I got to like this song in The US and thought that TS' voice was EPs before remembering that TS' musical tune was the first one I ever heard. The female vocalist of 3rd song sounded like a Hong Kong night club's lady singer (old days under British rules).

Elvis is the absolute king, but Terry Strafford version OMG! The background voices the instruments arrangement its just PERFECT.

I like Elvis version - and it’s very rare that someone would come along and knock Elvis off the throne - but Terry Stafford did just that. Terry took off like a rocket with his version of Suspicion - I was station at Sheppard Air Force Base In Witchita Falls, Texas and I go down to the Airman’s Club and listen to the music on the Duke Box and Terry Stafford “Suspicion” would be the song that everyone played. So thanks Terry for the memories - You are surely miss - but we have your suspicion to listen to. Thanks again

Elvis Presley couldn't even come Close to Terry Safford singing suspicion.. Elvis Presley had a beautiful voice. But Terry Stafford sang suspicion the best. And I loved Elvis the most. This song just simply was made for Terry Stafford.

I always liked Terry's version, that was the one I knew first. As a kid, I'd thought it was Elvis and was floored when I learned it was sung by another artist; and then wondered idly if Elvis himself had a version of his own, maybe on the B-side of one of his more popular songs. SURPRISE!!! When I heard the original "Suspicion" by Elvis, I was mesmerized! Elvis's exquisite voice at its greatest with that lovely Latino beat in the background ... I was sold!! Elvis's "Suspicion" isn't only my favorite version of the song, but one of my favorite songs of all time!! 💖💖💖💖🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

The instruments and background music makes TERRY STAFFORD'S Suspicion the best. When Elvis did it with the same background music both versions become at par.

If only we had a time machine where you could get Elvis and Terry Stafford to sing in harmony on this one, Terry Stafford's arrangement shades it for me, the backing vocal on his version brings the song to a different level, the biggest compliment I could pay Terry is that if you closed your eyes you'd think it was Elvis you were listening to, the Teresa Brewer version not at the races for me I'm afraid.

@@jaslady22 I think it’s safe to say that this could have been Terry’s finest moment in song, as you say Elvis was Elvis and no doubt Terry had Elvis on his mind when he performed this song, he certainly did the song justice but if you’re looking for a good Elvis impersonator in the now then look no further than Ben Portsmouth.

Terry Stafford version was the best on this song, I always thought that it was Elvis for the longest time.

I love Terry's version. The word suspicion in Elvis' rendition is too SHARP. Teresa's version is much too fast. Terry's is soft and mellow, if you are not in love, it makes you feel like you are - Terry's the best ❤❤! Thank you Terry for such a beautiful song you left the world with - RIP ❤❤!!

This song went through my head a few years ago. I thought what I remembered was Elvis but it was Terry Stafford. I don't remember that name. I prefer his sound to Elvis. Surprised he wasn't more famous.

Terry Stafford wrote this song when he was only 21 and he has put so much of himself into it and it's simply the best. Terry Stafford also wrote "Amarillo by Morning" and while Terry's original version was very good, the cover by George Strait kills it! Give both versions a listen, they are on KZread, you won't regret it!

I started listen to this song a few days ago a very good song both Elvis and Terry have really good versions of the song it's tough to pick.

Elvis seems to hit the high notes better

Great delivery from both performers. Terry would have to be the closest sound a like to Elvis which is remarkable given that no one has ever sounded like Elvis especially in the young years.

Teresa Brewer reminded me of a young Dolly Parton. All three had great musical talent.

Being a Elvis fan l would have too say l liked all three

King Elvis!

Elvis for me. His sounds fresher and somehow less dated. Interesting that Terry's version was bigger in the US, but Elvis' bigger in the UK.

Elvis put passion and that Godlike voice into this, but Terry and the instrumentation and the background vocals make his version three steps above. Simply astounding!

@@mushmanpeets7867 Elvis's arrangement is lame - and his vibrato on the chorus makes me laugh - not a good idea if you're trying to sell a serious song. LOL! Stafford's arrangement has punch and sounds contemporary (for 1964).

suspicion by elvis has always been one of my favourite songs by him the instrumentals with that bell like sound coupled with his early “60s vocals is just perfect on this version, teresa’s version sounded speeded up and she sounded like a chipmunk, Stafford’s version sounded flat elvis sings with emotion with all the highs and lows he’s in a different class to these two they both should’ve left this song alone

You can have all the wonderful arrangements and back up singers, bells and whistles as you like but at the end of the day it's the voice that matters and Elvis had the golden voice that nobody could match. Stafford tries hard but doesn't come anywhere near the king in his version. I'm sticking with Elvis on this one, the original and the best!

@@57Class No he wasn’t. As the uploader of this clip has correctly stated, Elvis first released this song on the Pot Luck album in March 1962. Terry’s cover version was released as a single in February 1964. RCA finally decided to release Elvis’ version as a single in April 1964 but by that stage Terry’s version had achieved some major success on the charts and Elvis' version didn’t end up doing well at all.

Most important thing to me is the lirics., I can understand the words and pronunciation on Teresa Breawer version better on her version. In the tone of voice and rithem I like it better on Terry Stafford version. In dramatisation and force in the voice Elvis Presley the King., but in this song the bell in my heat rings most with Terry Stafford version. Long life for the good music 🎶

So for me it's very difficult - almost impossible - to decide between Terry and Elvis in the end. I just like both versions in slightly different ways

@@shakespeare_hall4788 listened again to 3 versions Elvis is truly the best he presents the song with Suspicion being the key word none of allowing backing singers to sing that word. Terry just sings the song with no feeling, the female version is awful, Elvis as usual sings with light and shade which is what a song is all about, using the key word as the most important one. the other two don't. Elvis 's velvety tone is outstanding and gives feeling to the song. Anyone can sing a song, which is what 2 do here, Elvis never just sings he feels the song to allow the listener understand what the song is all about and tells a story. I will give you an idea of how great a singer Elvis was. The Opera singer who was asked to sing at the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana Princess of Wales of UK Royal Family was asked who in her opinion was the best singer ever, without hesitation her reply was"without a doubt Elvis Presley". It doesn't matter who if Terry outsold Elvis with the song, it is simply a choice. I know music my mother was a trained singer and came from a musical family. Without a doubt Elvis far exceeds anyone else in the 20th Century. I know Elvis used backing singers, but he was clever in that they never stole the show from him he was the one with Charisma, greatest voice, knowing how to present a song and bring in his musicians and backing singers at the right time, all for the public who adored him. There will never be another like him. He had a special gift from God, and used the talent given to him, being able to sing any genre of music from rocknroll to Gospel and everything in between.
