Same! Honestly some nurses have seen the procedures more than some doctors, and they know how to handle the situation, it's not like in med school they teach us anything else about it that nurses don't know, the only difference is that we are allowed to do it and practice, while nurses just watch, but in an emergency crisis you really value the time, so if the doctor is nowhere to be seen, then the nurse should definitely intervene and save the patient

So, I texted my mom who is a former ER, current OR nurse in sweden, and according to her... If a nurse has significant experience and the operative procedure results in life being preserved, the nurse will face investigation, but not be suspended nor loose their license. If however the patient dies, regardless of if the operative procedure was the COD or if the procedure was done in too late of a stage, the nurse may be subject to suspension or losing their licence. So basically, emergency knows no law if it means a life can be saved. However, if permanent damage is sustained there is the possibility that the nurse will be charged with grievous bodily harm or medical malpractice.

  • @TheKabukimann

In many countries nurses are allowed and trained to do intubation when ordered by a doctor or if its nescessary. Sadly in the US because you can get sued for anything for millions of dollars they dont allow non doctors to do so. The Tracheotomy is very risky if you arent trained in it, because you can easily hit an artery.

@@TheKabukimann I like to point out that intubating and Tracheotomy are 2 different things (but related). Intubating is when the tube gets inserted through the nose or mouth while Tracheotomy (or as they say in the clip, "Cranking") is when a cut/slit is made through the trachea for the tube to be inserted into. Im pretty sure paramedics, docs AND nurses are trained in intubating but only docs are allowed do the tracheotomy (unless under VERY specific situations almost anybody could do it from my understanding BUT VERY SPECIFIC).

His an emergency doctor consulting an oncologist (or admitting doctor) for a plan. Emergency doctors initiate generalized treatment and stabilize patients before finding an admitting doctor to get a plan from. Good doctors ask questions

i dont see the problem here. if she had done nothing the outcome wouldnt be better. she didnt do it instead of a doctor doing it. she did it instead of nothing being done. and the damage is from waiting too long anyway. so shes to blame for not waiting longer?

This thing doesn't make sense? Did the patient sue Maggie over it? It has to be very extreme case of negligence before a case will be considered as a crime no? Which in this case this is rather reasonable emergency

*It's unfair on how things has turned ever since the outbreak of covid 19 things has been difficult and different from the usual times* *we see complains here and there in the social Media from different people in different countries all around the world* *Looks like the government care's less OR aren't making enough efforts anymore* *I suggest we citizens should learn to be more creative, Believe in God and sort several means to earn a better living rather than hoping on the government or economy*

Not to criticize But directory is correct. Yes the procedure had saved patient's life , but if it were to let by then anyone regardless how much proficient or experience he/she is will be allowed to do as much as he/she wants. Human life is precious beyond a price tag. Medical doctors are taught to do no harm first then to treat with the utmost care . I hope made my point .
