Thanks so much, Jaya! You totally made my whole week. Keep practicing!!
Still the lit wind ensemble piece after 3 years since I played this. ;) eight grade band was so much fun
I got the amazing oportunity to play this at the ONU High School Honors band, and not only that, but it was an honor being able to be directed by sir Patrick Burns himself. The very first time I heard this song I fell in love with it. The man is a genius!
I remember playing this piece about 7 years ago when I was in 7th grade for my first Festival performance. We all hated it, but now that I'm a music major and I'm more attuned to contemporary music of this style, I absolutely dig it.
I had played this at junior all county about a year ago on Baritone Horn/Euphonium, and I have to say that this was easily my favorite piece.
I don't know what you did but every single time I hear this it get's better.
this is by far my favorite piece I have ever played! I constantly listen to it. literally I sing it everyday. it's the bomb!
Just played this today, for you Mr. Burns, over the phone! Great piece! Concert went well.
I also like playing the triplets in the song and high notes. After that, in music, I'm clarinet 1 and my friend is clarinet 2. When we play together, it sounds so cool
Yup, it was a lot of fun working with you guys. I will be back on Thursday May 3 for another rehearsal, so I'll see you then!
Man, music has the power to take you back like nothing else can. I commented 7 years ago how I was playing this song on the tuba. It's been quite a few years since I've played now, but this just transported me right back. Such a masterfully wonderful piece. It's so intense, but beautiful. I simply read the words "suspended animation" in a book and it immediately made me remember this song. Now all these years later, I'm listening again and it's like I'm back there in that auditorium. Thank you, Mr. Burns.

Hi Patrick Burns. I played this piece back in all county as a freshman during Junior All County in Rockland County, NY. It is my senior year and as my senior year comes to an end soon, I wanted to take a trip down memory lane and your song is a great accomplishment that I am glad I was able to be a part of and play. Thank you.

The triplets in this piece are BEAUTIFUL
I played this song for NYSBDA Middle School Honor Band about 5 or 6 years ago and you were our conductor. It was an amazing experience that played a huge part in convincing me to go into music for college. I will be starting college next year and hopefully getting a music degree. I'd just like to thank you for making this experience so awesome and memorable.
Thanks! Glad to hear you've had fun with it. Be sure to thank your band director for programming it .

This was one of the pieces we would play every single year in commencement band and I would look forward to playing it so much!
I play the lowest part in our band. Bari sax (tubas are WAY too quiet!) and this is an incredible experience! 0:50 has always been my favorite part! The low Bb's are awesome! I also changed one note at the end, and jump an octave lower on the "A" :D
MAY 1RST BABY

You totally made my whole week, Thomas. Thanks so much for your kind words, and for remembering my music. If that doesn't make a guy feel great than I don't know what would. Stay in touch.
@Bluefin9547 Funny story which I'll only tell part of. It was actually inspired by my hatred of another piece of middle school band music. The title of this piece implies music which is rhythmic and exciting but delivers nothing but boredom. That piece begins with woodblock, so I began Suspended Animation with woodblock and took it from there.
I'm playing this in my advanced band and it always feel amazing to play something like this.
I'm a sax and and I'm playing this amazing piece with my six flags band band so I get a lot of fun and attention playing this because there is a lot of sax in this crazy song. and I love the part at 0:28-0:29.
This song is just perfect! Im a trombone.
