I rarely like to house rule games as, in my opinion, playtesting should have found problems. I regard talk of fixing a game as a really bad sign.
Really sounds like this is a kids only game for the most part. Chris and Wendy seemed to both give it a bump for enjoyment of playing with their kid. Wendy is already talking about house ruling it which seems like a really bad sign. Tom seemed to judge it as an adult game which sounds more like where I would fall on it.
Sushi Go Party is just too good of a package for any further iteration unless it was expansion.

@@JUSTINTRIPjl I have those 4 cards! My box has room for many more ;)
Sounds like an easy "fix" would be to give each player 2 meal plans at the start of the game randomly as opposed to having them be in the table.

And if the chop sticks as point is a problem, as talked about in the video, just change the mechanic. One chop stick for the first skip, two for the second.

this is so much a better implementation that it should be the standard rules.
Thanks for the review!
Lately, I've been going back to simple games. I might like this one.
I wish it didnt have the Sushi Go pre-title before it. Like making a new game titled "Tokaido - The Great Wall"

I really don't like that I have to look at the player aid constantly to know what does which card.
Would it help this game if you built the recipe card on the card ? As a way to both cheat the end game timing and also keeping the card piles fresh? Edit to be clear the recipe cards when chosen acta as a slot for 4 cards to be able to score it. Not having those cards elsewhere in your tableau.
No Thanks with a rondel.
House rule the points. Double everything but the chopsticks, make zero point items each worth one, and squishy bun not taken from other players (and you must use it next turn without taking it again).
There need to be cards you don’t want to take that will hurt you.
Hey, here my biggest question: if you used a chopstick to move it, but the rule never stated that you can pick up a chopstick to take if your opponent side or goes back to you. I would assume that once chopstick is put down, that pile is completely cut off. Which make no sense cause if you play with 6 players and all of them drop a chopstick, game is over. Or if you have no chopstick where you have chopstick in front of you while your opponent is clear from his pile, he can keep drawing it till run out.

If you grab from a pile that has chopsticks on it, you collect all the chopstick tokens there. They're a good resource to keep plenty of!
Im not sure i understand Toms rating. He rates it a 5 but thinks it shouldnt exist. Wouldnt that warrant a lower score?

A game not needing to exist doesn't mean it's a 4/10 or lower necessarily. There are a lot of mediocre things that don't need to exist.

I think he mostly said that due to how great and easy to play sushi go party is
I'm with Tom. I bought the game. Played it, and then we returned it. Those recipes kill the game. We were gonna take them all out excpet for 4, but no one one wanted to play the game again. So disappointed.

Retired it?!?!? You bought it you keep it.
Less meal plans, more chopsticks, rebalance scoring. Done?
Have to say this looks terrible, I thought it was a bootleg attempt to cash in on the Sushi Go brand
