On 6 February 2024 musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and the Australian Youth Orchestra represented the Arts8 group of companies with a performance at the opening of parliament. We were welcomed into the House by the Parliamentary Envoi for the Arts, the Hon Susan Templeman, who later in the morning made a statement to the House of Representatives, emphasising the importance of the training organisations in securing Australia’s creative future.
The Australian Government funds the eight national elite training organisations in the performing arts, which support Australia's thriving creative economy. The organisations' training programs promote artistic and cultural excellence. Together with the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, these organisations comprise Arts8: the Australian Roundtable for Arts Training Excellence.
