Today was the beginning of the civil lawsuit against Washington state. This is heartbreaking to watch knowing in a few months she would be dead. The stress in her voice and desperation in trying to document everything “just in case” is difficult to witness. I pray she didn’t know or feel anything.

No, I highly doubt that he is with her....murder is such a heinous act of violence that only someone totally lacking humanity could commit such an act. So if you are a Christian, no matter the brand or affiliation or act, if there us a heaven and a hell ..and most probably there ARE, in keeping with the laws of nature and physics, and opposits/duality....then HE should be writing in Hell for eternity. And, she and thevbots are in Heaven, in Peace, surrounded by love, acceptance, forgiveness and righteous spirits, deserving if all the blessings and happiness that this evil excuse for a man, robbed them of. Yes, to me it seems obvious that she knew what her tu ific potential the man MUGHT be capable of (hence, the videi). But as a good, loving, "normal" human being, as a wife and mother, she apparently (like I myself did, fir years) believed that her love, the children, that perhaps could change him, or soften his selfishness. Because we women, foolishly believe that if we love hard enough, strongly enough. that we can change someone. And she probably believed that the boys having a father around in their lives was important for them to be raised right....quite mistakenly....What a shame SHE di not take the boys and bail ling before the infamous camping trip to the birth pole.....a one way ticket with no return trip. God bless she and her boys....

I'm sure it isn't worse than a husband who used all her money for junk, and racked up thousands of dollars in debt from his in laws, never paying any of it back. Plus, allowing his father to sexually harass her for years, even when she expressed that it made her uncomfortable. This tape is so chilling....I am so sorry Clarissa for your great loss. I read this book and was so overwhelmed by her story. Should have never happened. I wish they were able to bring him into custody...which I feel they should have as it was obvious to me that he was responsible, come on. Now the two boys have lost their lives, it is grossly unfair. RIP Susan and her angels.

The part that stuck out to me the most was when when she was opening her drawers with her makeup to show her little collection and explained how she liked Mary Kay but josh, a giant pathetic man baby would cut her off from buying it because it was “too expensive” . Meanwhile he has drawers full of literal crap and tools amounting to thousands of dollars. Susan deserved so much better she was surrounded by evil and lived with a narcissist and his family🤮. I really hope somehow her remains are found she deserves to rest in peace along with her boys and give her family some type of closure by having her home.❤️😞

she was well aware danger was lurking. She seems so unhappy there is no doubt she wanted out and he could not handle it.

Even if she knew he was suicidal....they would never have believed he would blow up the house and kids with himself. It is so hard to convey these types of issues to police and law officials....they can't act on "feelings"

It's not always easy to leave, and a lot of the time abusive people present themselves as loving and caring for so long when they start showing signs and becoming abusive you start questioning yourself because it's hard to believe. You have so many memories of this person being nothing but good to you and now they're acting this way, it really makes you question your own sanity sometimes. Leaving an abusive relationship is never easy especially after marriage aswell and my heart goes out to the people that didnt manage to make it out alive :(

Been there. It took me awhile to realize all the sympathy he got from me, all the help...meant nothing. It was never reciprocated. " Thats what you did for me yesterday, what about today?" I just didn't understand how someone could have a mindset like that. I do now. There really are people like this.

Looks like Josh was all about Josh. All those tools and RC cars for himself. Looks like he always got what he wanted. Thousands and thousands of dollars spent on himself and they had to borrow money for a rocking chair that she probably used to rock her babies in. What a selfish heartless person. Most parents give everything to their children first so their needs are met such as food, clothing, bedding etc. Such a sad story and so much heartache for Susan’s family and friends. Such awful memories to live with Keeping her story alive has made others aware of what could happen and hopefully kept more families alive and well because of it. My sympathy to all that have endured such pain that this has caused.

I'm 55 yrs old, and watching this brought chills down my spine and pure terror of PTSD. I was married to a " Josh ". I married very young and had 3 kids by a Ex. He was extremely volatile and extremely abusive in every form imaginable. I'm in tears watching this...I and my kids escape. My God, I cried because She and her Children didn't. I'm shattering just thinking about how evilness walks in the world and does vile things. My heart breaks all over for Susan and her boys.

@@courthebrave I left at age 25. I hear people tell women in similar situations to just leave, It's not so cut and dry as such. Men like that tear women down to nothing. And finding places to hide, they find you. Trust me they do. Family and Friends are willing to go so far and do so much. There's so much that goes into disappearing, because that's what you have to do. Domestic violence is the number one death in young women. Think about that for a moment. I'm a survivor. It's not easy to leave and recovery is no joke. I'm 55 now and I still flinch with sudden movements and noises. I still suffer from PTSD. But I survived. I got my young children away before he could hurt them or kill me. And any man I get near with a red flag is history in my eyes. Do I still fear? You betcha! Those memories I'll never forget. I'm stronger and wiser now. But in no way do I feel like a hero or a warrior, I'm a survivor. I want to help every victim I see.

I’m happy you’re not afraid to share your life and help other women who go through these horrible situations. The reason i called you a warrior is because you are someone who battles with your past and helps other victims as well. It takes a lot of heart and courage to do that. Her divorce lawyer told her to make this so he couldn’t hide assets. She was instructed to say “in case of flood, fire, etc,” so Josh wouldn’t think she was leaving him if he found it

Susan points out a box fan in the basement that was more than likely one of the fans found by police being used to dry a wet spot on the couch when they initially forced entry into the house. So sad and creepy to think that, to her at this point, it is just an innocuous fan, but we know it was used to try and hide the truth about what happened to her just a year later.

ayeni sia thats what you call ALWAYS in fear, the constant walking on eggshells, saving that "smiling energy" for when hes around so he doesn't see her depression or another beating will follow, I know, I lived it, my ex husband tried to kill me and didn't not succeed obviously, because our 16 year old son saved us all! , My ex was going to kill all of us, he was sent to prison and we no longer walk on eggshells...... thank you to those of you defending my aunt in the comments as for the person defending josh, he was a selfish man throughout the relationship he didnt just spoil himself for years they had this annoying and expensive bird thatbhe also spent all of susans money on and as a response to another comment, she didnt know she was gonna die evidently, and my mom did tell susan to leave, but josh was listening on another line most of the time and he on quote said over his dead body would she ever get those kids... and a while later she was gone, then when he didnt get the kids... they were gone too

Josh Powell was a despicable man. That wonderful woman and those sweet little boys, killed by the person that was supposed to protect them.......smh.

I guarantee she was murdered and dismembered with multiple items she actual filmed through out this video and that is so sick and heartbreaking. Josh killed her and cut up her remains with the shit she bought his broke ass

He bought all that stuff to bankrupt her so she could not leave him! What you hear in her voice is frustration from the mental abuse she suffered repeatedly. She was on edge. Emotional abuse keeps you on edge, and yes, you lose sight on how you speak to your children when you are constantly on edge. This is a classic case of a woman that is emotionally abused.

I remember them, they lived down the street from me, Charlie had a crush on me in primary. I don’t remember Braden that much, but I clearly remember me teasing Charlie in primary by putting my feet on his chair and Susan telling me to stop. This video is so saddening, the fact that they are gone, the fact that my friend is gone- it’s just so heart breaking.

Listen to the cold podcast. Apparently around this time he made her take out a 500,000 insurance policy and made her bike to work. Not only that but he had her sign over the rights for him to pull the plug if she was on life support.. The host thinks he was plotting for her to have an "accident" 3 years prior to her disappearance. They had such a massive debt that he could wipe it clean if she passed. He used the van mainly but she had to ask to.

so incredibly sad. Did anyone get that part about the make up? she said she liked a certain brand but josh cuts her off after a while, because it's too expensive. Sick freak

I don't think that part is something to focus on. Mary Kay is multi level marketing. They essentially charge women to buy their make up and try to sell it for them. Text book pyramid scheme. Josh was definitely controlling, but I would get my wife to stay away from that stuff too.

She's breathing heavy like nervous. My heart hurts for her she never got the justice she deserved. My brother in law Matt Odom was murdered by his wife and boyfriend at the time. I.am glad Susan and her children are all together and not suffering anymore 💕

This is the SADDEST MOST HEARTBREAKING thing I've seen.she 100% had a gut feeling of some sort! When she said...hopefully things will work out...her facial expression said it all 😢. I'm so sorry this happened to you & your babies 😔

He's a bad man on this video because she states that he bought stuff got the bank to repo it and bought more on her credit so while having 2 young boys-he bought toys for himself that put them in debt. Nevermind the fact that this guy killed his wife and hacked his two sweet boys up with a hatchet. He is beyond selfish and evil and is burning for eternity down below.

This is one of the heart rending story I have ever read.Now this video of Susan documenting assets just makes it even more horrific in light of what happened in the end.

It's amazing how all this material stuff that is supposed to make you happy can absolutely make you miserable.

It's so sad to look in Susan's (RIP) eyes on this video. Another beautiful soul dispatched much too soon. I pray that it was quick and she didn't suffer. How we as humans can do this to each other is beyond me. How can you kill another innocent human being, your wife, the mother of your children?!? Her children are with her now in heaven while that coward Josh is roasting in hell.

Their family is LDS, which makes me most surprised and upset. Because Josh was basically betraying the trust of the church. I’m also LDS, so I understand how it is. I didn’t say you don’t though.

Since you have to wait until judgement day to go to heaven or hell, no I don't think he's roasting in hell or they're in heaven right now. We sleep in the grave until judgement day. Why do Christians believe that God will allow people in hell before judgement day, just to roast and roast. That's not what Gods like.

By the sound of her voice she seems unhappy and on edge so sad their all dead,we never know what someone is thinking and willing to do to the people they claim to Love.

Why didn't her family get her out of this situation before it was too late. The father of these children reminds me of the father in Frederick, Colo recently. Narcissistic.

This is so terribly sad . My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Susan’s friends and family.

Born and raised up the street from their once was home. This story hits hard and continues to do so. I feel so much for Susan and her family, I hope one day we can find her and lay her to rest. What a sick man Josh Powell was. She was probably unhappy and wanted a happy life with her boys and he didn't like that so he took her out of this world. Nobody deserves to have their life taken by other people. May Susan and her boys Rest In Peace and hopefully they find her soon.

She really did look stressed. Still keeping her kids happy tho. Such an amazing woman.

Its sad this is the only way ill ever get to hear charlie and susan, ever again, and ill never hear braden again..

I feel so bad for those children. i watched brave little Charlie in that interrogation video. Basically saying his dad did something terrible. I cant believe they gave those kids back to that monster.

They completely failed those boys and the poor little guy was saying I can’t talk to you. It’s just so heartbreaking. They should be alive and with a new tip that came forward they may have found her. I hope it’s her so she can be placed with her sons.

I watched Heavy D Sparks and Alan on their channels clearing out the mine that they thought she was in and that's how I first heard about this tragic incident. I wish they could have found her so her family could get some closure and she could be buried in a proper burial. I can't ever understand how or why a man can do these awful things to his family like this. I feel so so terrible for Susan and her little boys. And watching this knowing what happened to them was very hard to say the least. My most sincere and deepest condolences to Susan's family. I hope she is found soon. Rest in peace Susan and her little boys. I'm so sorry..

Women experiencing abuse can experience irritability, agitation, distress, anxiety, depression and mood disorders relative to the terror and violence, emotional or otherwise that they experience. It is well documented. I extend grace and kindness to Susan and assume your assessment is valid and that Susan may have been experiencing more abuse than she knew how to explain or articulate. I am so sorry for your loss, pain and suffering and especially for the insensitivity of online commenters who are uneducated about the severity of domestic violence (DV). She did this video at 4 am which also tells me she didn't feel safe doing while Josh was home during the day. People need to understand the level of stress women experience who are experiencing violence. Her father in law was also abusive to her in a sexually harassing way. She had NO protection. Our society and systems need to respond more quickly to the danger women face in DV relationships. It's very serious. Too many woman die while awaiting legal protections and help. Again, an aly and advocate and sympathizer for your loss and suffering. Sending love, compassion, empathy and healing for your entire family. I pray the world get answers. Susan Powell is Utah's poster child for the need for severe change to our systems. Love to you.

Susan is such a sweet loving mother to her kids, her only mistake is to love a spineless, selfish man.

Who keeps a lockbox from their wife 🤔 my husband barely knows what were going to find in his pockets when they go in the wash. Very odd. He clearly had lots of evidence to destroy.

This is so sad seeing what she and her children were like as people, and then knowing what happened to them.

This is so heartbreaking to watch. The sound of her voice sounds in distress as well. It's frustrating how someone can go on to act like he has some sort of an authority on your life and make you suffer with them.

Susan sounded resigned.

This gives me cold chills. Beautiful young woman and her 2 boys 😢

I feel bad for her I really do but after hearing a more in depth version of this story on the cold podcast it just baffles me why this woman stayed with him??? she was evening trying for another child???? and she was telling her friends that if anything happened to me it's my husband....its just crazy to me why anyone would stay in such a toxic situation and not expect something toxic not to happen.. idk it's just crazy to me..and it's not like she was alone she had family and friends she could have gone to.. sorry to be insensitive but it just really bothers me that Susan stayed with him

She stayed because he was breaking her down , at first it probably was just annoying, then hurtful, they she started questioning herself….. it sounds like she was beginning to question maybe it wasn’t her but him that had issues.

It's exhausting to try to get out of the situation she is in with him. She probably gave up and just decided all she could be is a devoted Mom. Once you are in an abusive relationship, it's so difficult to have insight on your situation.

I wish that instead of taking the time to videotape all of those possessions, she had taken those two precious boys and gotten the heck out. She should have gone to her parents' house. None of the crap in that house was worth fighting over.

I'm listening to the Crime Junkie episode on this case. It's crazy looking at how she would openly talk like something was going to happen

This video is so eerie to me. I am currently renting this house with roommates . The floral chandeliers and light fixtures are still here in the kitchen. The basement is finished now-two bedrooms, a living room area and a bathroom. With the exception of furnishings of course...not much has changed. :'(

Was this thw home she stayed at when she went 'missing'. If it is theres a good chance he may have murdered her there. Doesn't bare thinking about what kind of life she had. You can tell she was in fear for her life making this video :(

This case haunts me. The fact that everyone directly involved in Susan's disappearance or those who had some knowledge of what hapoened are now dead

She seems so weak disappointed and helpless, without any power anymore because of fighting with this sick man! It reminds me so much of myself

Josh killed her he was a sick brutal bastard and so was his father. What he did to his sons is awful. One day they will find her body in a mine

Why did no one advise her to leave the stuff, grab the kids, and get out. She was in an impossibly difficult situation and needed someone to step in. I was in a very similar situation and left without a penny and have been paying for it financially ever since, but I know now that it was the right decision. Susan and her sons needed help, not legal advise on how to hold on to the marital assets. This unimaginable tragedy stands as a warning that safety should always come first.

Update! They MAY have found her. They pulled remains from an old mine shaft a few days ago and are being sent off for testing.

Poor thing it sounds like she didn't feel safe and was showing how he was more concerned about expensive stuff. She also said I hope we live happily ever after like she felt he was evil. My heart goes out to her and her kids. Rip

Poor sweetheart you can hear it in her voice. I came from a very abusive relationship where I couldn't sleep at night for fear of my life and my small children. At night I had to lock them in the basement bedroom so daddy couldn't get to them in the event that I accidentally fell asleep. So when she's snapping at her son it's called stress and exhaustion where every little sound makes your skin crawl. RIP Susan you have your little boys with you. They were spared a grim upbringing by their father who we all know would've gotten them back based on how this whole thing was handled.

😔 I remember Susan and her boys. I wish there was more that could be done to help people get away from abusive relationships.

Those buckets of food are a perfect example of how too many people waste their lives fearing the wrong thing. To date, not a single person has had to cope with a collapse of the ever-reliable American food supply. But how many are murdered every year by someone they know and trust?

Attorney should have advised her to grab her kids and get the hell out of there.

Josh has an abundance of tools RC cars and electronics and he cuts her off from buying a few Mary Kay products? Obviously a selfish self centered piece of crap. And dishonest. He buys thousands in tools and then goes bankrupt. Shows his lack of character. I wish this poor woman had taken the boys and run straight to her parents.

God this is is so heartbreaking and bone chilling to watch, especially when she talks to her kids, it just hurts to watch. This whole thing just stresses me out to watch.
