Agreed on how the noodles look. They should be... Not clear but sort of translucent, and darker. Which is a shame because I love japchae.

Those look like rice noodles, japchae usually uses potato noodles i believe

I’m a white girl, and you’re suppose to put dark soy sauce when you boil the noodles in water. You’re welcome.

@pbandj089 even uncooked the noodles for japchae are thicker and a dark grey color. Yes you are supposed to season with soy sauce when boiling but these straight up look like vermicelli noodles.
From the look of it, that noodle isn't sweet potato noodle but vermicelli noodle. I guess they change cause sweet potato noodle is kind of hard to cook in microwave? I've only ever saw people boiled it so it might be. But the texture of those two is wayyyyy different , sweet potato noodle is kind of more chewy and bouncy , while vermicelli is smooth and soft.
Man. Japchae is one of my all time favourite food. I have a really nice small korean restaurant owned by an older korean couple near me, and their food in general is just absolutely godly. Before I went there, I had never tried korean food, but since going there, I am of the firm belief that nothing beats korean food.
That's vermicelli. It can be a cheaper alternative but the japchae noodles tastes way better and has better texture.
All these Steve references give me life

I absolutely love costco's frozen Ramen bowls. They are very awesome.
Gorgeous dish ❤
My phone's spying has leveled up... I just ate japchae
You should try the seaweed salad!
The Japchae from Trader Joe's is amazing, however I've never had "authentic" Japchae before.
I love your shirt omg 😂❤
Lol the steve sticker 😂😂
this is so good... a must try
i wouldnt be scared id be so happy to find any of these things at my local costco.. unfortunatly we just dont have much asian food there. 😢
I love the way you not just hate on the food like "ooh, it's not like the original, this sucks", but you actually talk about the positive points as well. Keep it up, please!
I love the mre tribute
During my time in high school this was one of the dishes they used to serve for lunch
Let's get this out onto a tray
Here in japan I've see japchae served with thinner noodles like that. But I just assume that dishes from other countries are just adjusted to the japanese taste or what is available in country.
The potato starch noodles are what makes the dish in the first place. Bag of those dry noodles cost over $10 here in Denmark tho.
Oh god that looks so good. I love rice noodles 🍜 😋 uuummaaaiii!
How did you get a Kirkland signature shirt?
noooo, those are not japchae noodles 😭😭😭 japchae vermicelli noodles are made of sweet potato. those seems to be either rice vermicelli or green bean vermicelli
I wish I can find some of these items in my local Costco lol!
As a fellow Steve fan, I’m disappointed that I didn’t hear a hiss!
They look like a good take to work lunch but not a great dinner ❤
In my costco they have another type of Japchae and its cooked differently
Maybe it’s cause I’m in Utah, but we don’t get this variety of Asian products at most of our Costcos. Is this mainly your local Costco or is Utah left out of the loop?
Nice
You the same dude that used the wrong rice for sushi. 😂
They used the wrong glass noodles. Those are made from green beans and not sweet potatoes. I eat the green bean glass noodles often but they have a lot less of a chew compared to sweet potato ones. The green bean one is better if they're part of soups.
these remind me of a hmong noodle dish similar to japchae. these are the noodles used for chov piaj (the hmong dish). but the seasoning is wrong.
Oh this has to be a west coast thing and maybe NY and Jersey. I’ve never seen this in my area outside of restaurants and Korean Markets. I’m jealous of whoever has this kind of Costco lol.
I bought noodles like that and I thought they were gross and thin. If it were thicker it'd probably be better consistency but it makes them seem slimy I hate it lol
I❤ this. Can you do Sam club.
Nice 👌
those lppk like veemicelli glass noodles!
The box literally says japchae, WITH glass noodles. No wonder it’s not the right noodles
The ones at Trader Joe’s are a hell of a lot better
God I love a good gusset.
Nice....❤
It’s very different from the real thing, noodles need to be thicker and clear color, also that sauce looks like a mushroom gravy! Very westernized version or something. Not justified~ 😂
Can anyone tell me is it spicy?
Those look like rice vermicelli as opposed to the sweet potato noodles
I love Japchae
Looks like pancit bihon
THOSE ARE MUNG BEAN THREAD NOODLES aka glass noodles which is written on the package. Sweet potato noodles are chewy, brown, & thicker and are the noodles needed for japchae. Vermicelli noodles aka (vietnamese) rice noodles are made of rice flour and those are not what's in that package either.
Wow those noodles look a little pale. I thought normally they look amber in color. Or am I wrong?
Is this the costco on automation parkway? ,🤔
I love how much this guy refrences steve.
Looks like vermicelli not like sweet potato noodles at all
I would just buy the right noodles for japchae and leave those other noodles for something else
Those noodles kinda look like mung bean noodles...
I mean... the seasoning for japchae isint too hard to get down so thats nice, but why they gotta do us like that with those noods??
I don’t even see this shit when I’m shopping.
Was that steve1998mre reveiws
The noodles is supposed to be brown that’s not it I have made japchae before
Noodles look like vermicelli
welcome to America where starch is in everything! those were not glass noddles
How could they possibly mess up the loteral defining point of the dish, the noodles?! That’s like putting spaghetti in miso soup
The noodles look like rice noodles
I'd love to try all of these but then you read the sodium content and it's enough salt to kill a man.
They're definitely vermicelli rice noodles and not the sweet potato noodles you would use in japchae, I'd be disappointed cuz the noodles are the best part
Those look like rice noodles, not sweet potato noodles.
No hiss?
Ur a fan of the dead right?
Gluten free ;v;
Those are not potato starch noodles.
Jhapche jhapche
THEY SELL JAPCHAE AT COSTCO??
Noodle wrong .. hai ya
It says it’s vegan. You’re comparing the vegan version of the food to the non vegan version. Of course it’s gonna taste different and have other slight differences. It doesn’t have the same ingredients
dva jumpscare
Those look like vermicelli noodles not the Korean sweet potato noodles hmm who created this in costco
Im not afraid to try it im just vegetarian
We got the Pad Thai (cooler), yakisoba (freezer) and the noodles were... Fine, IF cooked in pan. The pad Thai?? AWFUL 😢
Anybody who's a Steve fan is cool with me😃
Sorry, the Korean in me knows those noodles are just wrong. Wrong wrong wrong 😊
Hey Steve1989
I love asain food, but am i the only one who has a bad reaction to glass noodles? I dont know, could i be allergic to only one type of noodle. Whats even in those things
And 300% of your recommended sodium intake
Japchae doesn't taste right with those white rice noodles. It's gotta be the nuttier and chewier sweet potato noodles.
If something is sus theres a reason to be afraid of it....what youre saying doesnt make sense
Afraid to try jspchae? What kind of pssys are you friends with?
I was confused. Like, is Gronions green onions or the fish grunyon? I mean, it IS Japanese food. 🤷🏼♀️
