You know, submarines don't typically have open hatches on the top, they have a way to close them. I would suggest a tarp at the very least, considering you guys don't have the equipment to seal off all air.

I like it when you guys get wet at the start of this video, although you could’ve just built a hatch up top to keep yourself dry, but it doesn’t seem like you’re getting anywhere near deeper and that’s probably for the best. If you built the next one with a large bore pipe as the base structure you will have less weld seams and hypothetically less leaks to worry about.
