Surviving the Awkwardness of Drawing Lines in the Sand | Setting Boundaries
Ahhhh boundaries, why do you have to feel so bad?!
While it DOES get easier to set boundaries, at the beginning it's like pulling your arm off in an effort to just get a little space. Painful, with instant regret, and the results are generally less than stellar.
Why does this happen? Aren't we SUPPOSED to set boundaries? Isn't this the healthy thing?
Yes. And.
Yes, it's healthy, AND it's like trying to put a car in reverse when it's barrelling down the highway. If you've seen any Fast & Furious movie you know that maneuver could end in a giant, fiery, explosions-on-all-sides-and-halfway-down-the-road crash.

Thank you, Sarah! I enjoy the video. The video was very detailed. The “mom” example you gave resonated with me.

I'm 61, but let's just say I know where you're voting from! Saw a counsellor about she told me to walk away eventually I did, she put herself in a care home, I never saw her again, she's passed now 8 years ago, hopefully the wounds will heal, I was ignored and treated badly after the death of my deformed son, she couldn't deal with it and took her anger out on me! Anyway it's in the past now!
