Surviving Boko Haram, the living of many in Nigeria | Reporters Plus • FRANCE 24 English

Borno state, in northeastern #Nigeria, has been ravaged by a deadly conflict between the military and #BokoHaram jihadists for more than a decade. Last autumn, the authorities announced that they wanted to close the Borno refugee camps as they claimed the insurgency was almost eradicated. However, in recent months, deadly attacks have taken place on the outskirts of the regional capital Maiduguri. Our team met some of the two million displaced people who have fled the fighting.

Truth is, the North started boko haram and fueled bh attacks during Goodluck's administration after Yar Adua had died. This was to destabilize his tenure, now the crocodile pet they fed and pampered has turned on their kids and families, that crocodile has given birth to bandits and kidnappers. Northern Nigeria vs Southern Nigeria are like two different countries. Best way to imagine this is to think of North Korea and South Korea. However Northern Nigeria has no prospect whatever of "ever" developing. Exploding population, literacy rate of less than 40% and girls literacy less than 20%. The only thing keeping this fragile state together is the Oil from the south and the 25 to 30 billion dollars of remittances yearly from overseas from southern nigerians who have fled the northern controlled corrupt and useless government.

One big problem of Nigeria is the unreasonable casting of votes.tell me exactly what these people expect of their leaders? Is it airports?because 95 percent of them don’t look like they ever want to explore,or is it infrastructure or good economy because obviously they are ok with their standards of living that is why you never see them protesting or saying anything bad about the government... I was born and brought up in plateau state of Nigeria although I’m originally from Enugu state and I can still tell you that there are amazing people in the north, people you can love and call your friends.they are all not blind to growth and development, some of them are even more intelligent than people from the south and west combined.they are humans as well.I have northern lecturers in my school and I can tell you that these lecturers are pretty good at what they do and can compete with all lecturers Nationwide. The north is under developed, little access to education,60 to 70 percent of them are still living that primitive life style, less informed and poor.these are some of the major problems northern Nigeria is faced with, believe it or not ,but we can’t fix this problem by hating or castigating them.we are all humans for God’s sake.all we not to do is enlighten them, let them know that life actually has more to offer. It might take centuries but Nigeria will definitely be a great nation one day.All it takes is one true leader. A man is never born stupid.he is thought to be stupid 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬.

Northern Nigerian economic weakness to the South is more than matched by its political supremacy. Borno state produces more than a million votes for the ruling APC. It is part of a northeast zone which has the 3rd highest vote count out of all 6 political zones. It has also produced a head of state and counts several top generals (incl the immediate past army chief), the national security adviser and a host of other top business men and politicians. Some Bornouans own oil assets in the south and are among the wealthiest Africans. Now why they have let their ppl suffer... Well that's another question... pls stop this basic appraisals of Nigerian geopolitics (France 24, al jazeera etc).
