I don't fly very often but I would attempt to do the same thing. This man kept order in a very tense and chaotic situation. Truly a hero and he should have been given some type of recognition for being brave enough to stay behind and help strangers.

@@mondaytosaturday1013 I know, so sad. The other accident was one of the fire trucks ran over one of the girls and that was what actually killed her. She had survived the initial eject from the plane. Terribly sad what happened to the three girls.

I flew into SFO, landing on 28R, two days later. I can't begin to describe the tension inside the plane, as we landed next to the wreckage of a crash.

i was helping my dad at the hospital one day trying to help him with a project. when the safety team, ICU, the ER and i heard this, we were shocked. so many people with so many injuries came. many people that live in the sf area will never forget this.

At the back of plane is where that WHOLEEEE thing is, and theres fire there and its quite high from the ground so ummmmmmmmm. :)

People at the emergency doors have to know this: The emergency slide only opens if the door is ARMED. There is a small lever on all aircraft that is mostly guarded with an invisible pane. Lift the lever to the red area so the door is armed and the slide will be deployed if the door is opened. NEVER open a door at the gate while it's armed; if a slide gets deployed unintentionally, that costs a lot of money and time. In this case, either the crew didn't arm the door, or the mechanism broke during impact.

I always sit at the emergency exit. If I do when I go to Maui in June I don't know. My caregiver will be booking First Class tickets thru Cheap tickets. She booked First class tickets to Vegas with American Airlines (which I am a frequent flyer) going to Vegas, and United ( which almost had a riot at the gate, when the flight ✈️ got delayed. It was like Braveheart part II) I made myself a promise, never to fly with United again.

No. 85 Merlin initially they were too high on the Glide slope and then they pulled the throttles back too far, and the auto throttles were turned off inadvertently, then they became too low and too slow and crashed.

That was a crazy intense crash just like we're inside a movie. But that man is really heroic helping the passengers to get off the broken plane safely

What a kind man helping the passengers

I was riding past the airport on Caltrain right when the pane crashed. We all saw the smoke and knew something had happened, but we weren't sure exactly what. It wasn't until we got to a restaurant in San Francisco we learned exactly what happened. Sometime later, my brother said he may have seen the exact moment of the crash. Later that month, when we flew out of SFO to Orlando, we saw the wreckage while taxiing.

My friend was on thus flight actually, She survived

This crash happened while I was in SF visiting my family. I came home to my father watching this on a live news broadcast. This crash happened the day before I was suppose to fly back to Virginia.

My dad went on this same flight 1 day before. I’m so grateful that my dad was not on this plane.

My dad and I had a tradition wherein before every flight, we'd watch National Geographic's Air Crash Investigations. Haha this brings back many surprisingly wonderful times. Airplanes are truly remarkable feats of engineering. I intend to make planes as we know them obsolete, by stalling their dependence on the very air they fly through. Nobody ever talks about what it's like being a passenger in a plane circling the airport for landing and seeing another plane crash land on the tarmac.

How strong is the cameraman, he always survives!

I like how crazy that was and then the innocent music at the end

I appreciated how much G's everyone could handled in that flight.

I've never been on a commercial airliner & this video is exactly why. I am worried about pilot error. I have all the faith in the technology of the aircraft, but the human aspect of the take offs, landings etc... worry me to the point where I can't do it.

The chance of you being in a plane crash is 1 in 1,200,000, which is 0.000083%. You are more likely to die in a car or on the side of a road walking than you are in a plane. If you flew once a day for your whole life, on average, you would meet with a crash after 150 years, or 55,000 days. The chance of you dying if your plane crashes (already very unlikely), is under 10%! It's the safest mode of transport by far.

I love how whenever something goes wrong, regardless on what actually is going wrong, the plane just shakes for no reason lol

That was actually another Captain who was more experienced in the 777 than the pilot flying. The pilot flying had transferred from the Airbus 320 and was struggling with the transition. Unfortunately, the more experienced pilot hadn’t supervised a landing like that before.

This was the flight were one was killed in the initial crash, one later at the hospital of injuries, and one Got run over by a firetruck at the scene ☹️

i would say the middle is the safest. when a plane crashes, it usually hits its nose or tail first. also, when there is turbulence, the middle moves the least.

true, but if you are up in sky it won't matter where the plane got hit , there are only very few people who survived falling down from sky. and i know there are accident where plane were on ground and they got hit in the middle and mostly no body survived since fuel tanks are located there. all in all there is no guarantee which seats are safer. if its your time to leave the earth you will.

I was told by someone who builds airliners that the safest place is over the wings, it is structurally the strongest part of the plane.

I was in Honolulu at the time of this crash and was about to fly out. Thank God I took a direct flight to Newark. I was thinking of stopping in San Francisco but man that would’ve meant a lot of delays. My heart goes out to those who passed

I remember this crash. I was on the port that goes to Angel Island north of San Francisco with some friends when I heard about it. My dad was at home when he saw it on the local news.

Ben Levy was a hero and I love Smithsonian's Plane Accidents and the flight channel

It's a good thing everyone survived

Whenever there is someone interviewed I’m always relived.💀💀

I'm the kind of person who reads the safety card multiple times, so it made me cringe so much when they didn't activate the manual emergency slide deployment.
