Thank you for posting these videos! There was a similar show where they went back in time to work like this, but there was also a Lordship and Ladyship. And the only thing I can remember about that show was when the show was about over the Ladyship started crying about it being over and how she enjoyed having everything done for her and one of the maids thinking it was rude that, back in time, the maids had to turn to the wall when the Lord or Lady came near them. Anyone remember that show?????

Just about everyone loves the glamour of the aristocracy, beautiful clothes, tons of servants, glorious food. It's a wonder the poor could even survive. One of my first jobs (I was 11) was doing reenactments at a Victorian era war museum. It shaped me. I learned to dry herbs, turn wool into thread and then fabric, baked using sugar cones that had to be ground by mortar and pestle, etc. And all in the clothing of the day. I still went back to modern civilization at night. But it was freaking awesome. Especially the clothes. 🥰

It would be like, living in a lockdown for months where the rules are that you cannot leave your house and every time you turn on the news you see more and more deaths. Try to keep your sanity while you are practically trapped in your home with your very annoying "family members", but every time you are near them, you have to stay 6 feet away and wear a mask or they are "eliminated" because you are "infected", so every time you see them, you have to worry about hospitalizing and possibly killing them by accident. Oh, and you have to strategically place clean objects (face towels, etc.) around so they don't touch the objects contaminated with COVID and wash your hands almost every hour and don't touch your eyes or nose... And every time you receive mail, you have to figure out how to avoid spreading the germs from that around your house. You also have to ration all your disinfecting supplies, soap, and toilet paper for that month because there's no more. Bonus round: you have kids, so you have to disinfect everything before they touch it because kids touch everything then touch their eyes and pick their noses 24/7.

Corsets or stays weren't supposed to be laced up all the way, especially in working day-to-day. When fitted properly it proved great back support and alignment assistance. Only a few high-fashion people like high-society socialites would often do that for a dramatic look when they didn't need to do any work except look pretty. like saying every woman today wore 6inch stiletto heels. You CAN do it, but it wasn't the norm. there are actually some really interesting videos about it that historical fashion KZreadrs like Karolina Żebrowska (Meme MOOOOM) and Bernedette Banner does a less than 12 minute video about victorian corsets and who wore what and why.

If some stolen veg can keep you alive another day, and a stolen ring can provide for you when you are too sick to work for a while, that's what you need to do. Morality will leave you starving to death, you have to be looking out for yourself at other's expense sadly. Tiger would've been alive in those times. Next time you're running into a garbage man, sewer worker, cleaning lady, custodian, recycling plant worker, plumber, etc., etc., etc, make sure to thank everybody and truly appreciate how valuable their work is for our society!

Sewer workers get paid quite nicely, as they should. I did a tour of a waste water treatment center, a lot of those guys make 100k+...again...as they should.

its fine to appreciate them, but their salary is their thanks.... Where I am from you walk up to a garbage man and say "thanks" you will get a nasty reaction, possibly may get into a fight!

And if you work fast, you're winding up with having to do even more work. I used to be working faster than any of my coworkers, and would wind up doing part of their job for them when I was done with my portion, even though we all had an equal amount of tasks. Don't get paid more than them, though. So... I've learned to slow down.

@Smileyrie James Pacing is different to laziness. If I pace myself then I know how long the job should take and steadily complete the work in a through and methodical way, completing the work to a high standard (like when they went through the manure to find dog muck or when that man was cleaning the rags). But I am lazy with the work, then I only work hard when being watched and don't check the quality of the work at the end...I let a small task last longer than it should and , like with a large task, 'corners are cut '(like when the team deceptively filled up the barrels)! Trouble is.... it's easy to take advantage of a trusting work-place, so people will end up with lazy people on their team when allowed to pace their-selves!

Thank you so much for enduring this time for our knowledge & entertainment. I've watched this particular series 4-5 times as I'm lost count. you have made me laugh out loud, smile, surprisingly angry, cry with real tears and cringe with disgust. I'm really thankful you brought everything up close and personal as so many people have never been hungry, homeless or cold. So many can't empathize for another soul and they certainly have no sympathy either. I hope this has the hearts of the many who don't believe in giving anyone help as they've either forgotten they or their family received help or they claim there's work for anyone who wants to work. Hopefully, people will open their heats and minds to the fact that one person they claim to this might fit there's another thousand more who won't eat without help. And, no one has the right to speak to anyone has harshly and rudely as those who did at the Work House. It broke my heart when they cruelly locked Ms Anne in the awful, cold room. I'm her age and I know how badly she must've ached from the cold. She was and I'm thankful she did so. I'm sure they were acting (hopefully) but that woman seemed to enjoy speaking to all of you girls terribly. We would've gotten the point regardless. Again, I thank you. You were all my favorites and you were wonderful. Much love from the USA. 🇺🇸🙏❤️🇬🇧
