    Im on Ark to unwind and just have a good time with people. I would love to spend money to support it if its done correctly but, its rough right now when the feeling that we belong just isnt there in ASA. I hope a better company gets ahold of Ark ASAP.

    Great video tiia so well done well said asa might not be perfect or might not be for everyone but im enjoying the game sure id be happy if things released sooner or better announcements but been on ark since 2015 still here an i hope ill still be playing it 10 years from now, sure game has its issues but still no other game id rather play or support or wait for it to get better over time ive spent more time in ark then every other game ive ever played combined so ive got my moneys worth and some playing it right now 😂 great video tiia thanks for sharing and positive vibes 😊 I believe the content your making and positive outlook is in short supply and its very nice to see and hear something positive surrounding ark, the devs, the community. So thank you tiia :) listening to you talk about meeting ppl an talking with them hearing there stories about not only the game but also who they met how they met was extremely relatable. I met my best friend playing ark I ran some servers and he was just random player until one day I was online clearing out old structures an he messaged me telling me he has been coming online to feed other ppls dinos while they were away an some of there stuff was able to be demolished an asked if I could extend the time for them he did that for players he didn't know had only talked to few times he was more concerned for other ppl stuff then his own and we became really good friends, he met his wife back then an I remember the server throwing him little party on server because he had to be offline for 2 weeks an was nice send off everyone came brought him gifts an dinos congratulated him it was really something. So I knew I had to keep his stuff safe an cared for while he was away this was before cyro's so we all managed to help him move his tames to my base and everyone chipped in helping move them even had some ppl doing meat runs over the weeks he was gone. I hardly hear stories like these anymore but now we are still best friends we have never met in real life but we talk everyday, we text an call we share hiw our week has been or what happened at work we don't even live in same country but he will forever be my best friend he always there when I need him we still game we have blast and without ark I wouod never have known him even with ark it was rare we even met he randomly picked my server out of thousands an played in it for few weeks and there's plenty of other ppl that joined an I never spoke to at all I'll never forget how extremely lucky I was and the timing of us both being in same area of map he never talked in chat so wouldn't have even know each other if things had gone differently that day if I played I different game if I had been on later at night if he seen me an just kept going about his own game I may not have had the awesome experience and friendship over the last 6 years

    I partly agree, the ark community does need to chill, I don't think anyone is denying that, some people take things way too far, but at the same time, I still don't like the way things are being handled, and to be honest, I feel like ASA in general wasn't a good move, they should've stuck to ASE, and worked on ark 2 that would give us new content to look forward to. At this time, with ASA, we got the island with better graphics, that's it, there's not much to it. In the end though, it is what it is, we can just wait and see what they do with the franchise.

    Excellent video! More people really need to get it in their mind that if they don't like the state of the game and are frustrated, just take a break and come back later. That's exactly what I'm doing now. My ASA server is offline right now while I want for things to develop. I'm playing Conan Exiles (actually in game as I type this) and Space Engineers right now. I tried Enshrouded, but it needs to cook a bit more too. Both Ark And Enshrouded have joined my personal club of games that I am in wait and see mode. I have plenty of games to play, so taking a break from one or more just to give it time to develop is not a huge thing for me.

    I agree on your points. I would like to add, for me personally, I don't mind AAA-games not taking the biggest risks. Sometimes I want a safe game, a good game. Not every game needs to innovate. My personal reason for choosing indie-games over AAA the last few years is because of the quality they give us compared to the money they want from us. Not only is the games expensive, we have 2 or 4 different "packs" to choose from, where the most expensive one got everything you should have gotten in the game from the start. They've also started to add microtransactions that don't seem reasonable, both in price and what you get for it. 20€ for a weapon-skin? No thanks. Pre-orders to get exclusive items? No thanks. To sum it up in a TLDR way; I feel like the AAA-studios are trying to rob me, while indie-studios are trying to entertain me.

    I too find it funny that the people that scream and complain the loudest, are the ones who always say " I quit ARK a long time ago." So if you don't play it, then just shut up! For me, the only real problem I have is the horrible communication from WC. We all know that Snail Games is satan, and will try their hardest to bankrupt WC thru their stupid business moves. But if WC can keep working on the maps and get them released every 3-4 months, then I will be fine, and keep playing.

    ASA's all-time peak player count was over 98,000 players. Just yesterday, when I jumped on to see if it wouldn't crash (it didn't surprisingly - might jump on today for a bit of a longer session to see if the CTDs have stopped), there were just shy of 10,000 (9,914) players. ARK has gone from a semi-serious survival game with dinosaurs, interwoven with a story spanning the course of human history and beyond, to...Steamboat Willy and the impending 'cosmetic cash grab', combined with hastily implemented 'Adventure Packs' which apparently have Pay to Win mechanics. ASA is not a game, it's a (attempted) revenue stream for Snail Games and most players can see that, are angry at that and want nothing to do with that aspect of ARK, and just want to play a survival game about dinosaurs with their friends without supporting companies that have little to no moral compass or ethics. But of course, the Catch 22 is, to support Wildcard and ASA, you're actually supporting Snail Games - and ultimately lining their pockets, not Wildcards. If these 'skins' and other cosmetics were "ARK-themed" - you know, like different types of weapons/armour (so an M-4, or AK-47, instead of the 'Assault Rifle' or a more ornate style of Flak armour, or armour based on a Roman Legionnaire, or Greek Hoplite - or Vikings, even) - that sort of stuff we could get behind. Offering different dinosaurs (that either replace or complement those already in game, but with the same stats as those they replace/complement) would also be something you could get behind (such as partnering with Jurassic World and adding in dino models based on their designs - so while there is a paywall, it's to cover the licensing costs from another dinosaur franchise not to add mechanics otherwise not found in the game). Snail Games doesn't care about ARK the game, its lore, or its art-style - they only care about how many zeroes they can add behind the $1. Wildcard, now a company under the umbrella of Snail Games, have - in my opinion - essentially sold their souls. It might have been the smart move financially (to keep the lights on, as you say, post Court settlement - which in itself was less than stellar on behalf of Stieglitz, but what's done is done). I'm not sure where Wildcard stands on the issue of what their game is becoming vs the vision they sold us at the start - but either way, seeing as Snail Games is the parent company, they're hamstrung when it comes to doing anything that would improve or refine ARK's presentation. Instead we've gone down this 'fantastical' route instead of honing the 'dinosaur' content - the Oasisaur, for example, isn't even based on a real dino. Not even a little bit. Add to that, that it's massive (was server performance if every player has one active taken into consideration?) and has some very interesting capabilities that no other dino or structure in ASA has - meaning that if you want this thing that can do things nothing else in ASA can do, you have to pay. We have Steamboat Willy skins, so servers full of Mickey and Minnie Mouse (which can be optionally be disabled, I'm led to believe - thankfully) - which has nothing to do with ARK, ARK's lore or dinosaurs - unless you're speaking metaphorically, as Steamboat Willy is a 'dinosaur' of a cartoon... You highlighted it, Wildcard's communication has never been top-notch. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't have learned from their past mistakes - not banked on them. It's not endearing when they constantly miss deadlines they've set, or what they promised to add is only done half-assed. It's not a funny moment when something you've spent hundreds or thousands of hours on suddenly stops working the way it used to, or support suddenly stops, or it starts becoming a piss-take reflection of modern "culture". Fans of the game sending death threats is idiotic and also, perhaps ironically, a reflection of modern culture. But not something anyone should have to put up with, let alone the people making (or breaking) the game you love to play... Themed mini-DLCs, P2W creatures, and free cosmetic mice might keep the lights on, but it's not true to what ARK was or what ARK will be. Because what is will be is a pale reflection of what it could have been. We're seeing that with the 'major AAA' games - skins of rappers, or cats, in a game that used to be about depicting the seriousness and realities of war... And those games are now hurting financially as just as many people leave the game for those reasons, as play. In my opinion, The Centre (Center, for you Americans) map won't be the saviour for ASA - it might boost player numbers but not 'save' ASA. Scorched Earth (the map, not the impending paid mini-DLCs) may bring back some players also - may even encourage some that did not buy ASA to do so. But these 'Adventure Pack' DLCs and their offerings (at least the cosmetic skins are themed...) are probably going to force away as many people as they may bring in. And while modders might be able to enhance the game, it's lazy development to seemingly rely on modders to improve your game. Make a game to make a good game, not make a game to make good money. That's why 'Indie' studios are currently turning the market on its head - it's not just as clinical as 'Studios with shareholders to please don't take risks'). You make a good game, people will buy it - and you'll probably end up making good money. You make a game, expecting to make money, and you'll lose every time. The worst thing 'major' game development ever did was go public and be subjected to the whims of shareholders who want nothing but constant profits... All of the above, combined, translates to people (myself included) losing hope in the story of ARK. I don't have a lot of free time to invest these days, so when I do - I expect the game to be fun and I expect it to be enjoyable and above all, I expect the game to be performant and work. ASA, right now, isn't doing any of that - for me anyway.

Honestly ARK is a game that I actually enjoy and love playing, despite all the bugs and glitches. 5 years from now, we'll be able to look back to ASA and see how much the game has changes compared to now.

    Its also so sad that youtubers (not you) keep spreading misinformation. the big channels claimed that Ark Ascended was announced as Free DLC but there is NO legitimate source that backs that up at all. Maybe a reddit post posted by a random ark player, but nothing from wildcard/snailgames or the makers themselves. And now everyone was rampaging about the price and then about everything else they could find. I mean i do think they messed up big time, (especially with the nitrado stuff thats still makes me angry) but its still a great game.

    The initial plan was to just upgrade the original game and go with it. There was a quick tweet by one of the founders. But this didnt work out for various reason and they had to make it a paid version, especially because by the time ASA became a thing the whole Nitrado-Snail drama happened if I got my timeline right.

  • @lampjerulez

    @lampjerulez

    @TiiaAurora yeah but that was what i ment, a quick tweet is not a legitimate source or statement. People nowadays dont know what evidence based is anymore. and with this kind of statements i think we as an audiance should take in consideration that you cant justify this tweet someone made by prob just thinking out loud, as an evidence based source, or as a legitimate statement that refers to (2 in this case) companys. But still people talk about this thing as if it was made as an legitimate statement by snailgames/wildcard. it was not, it was just a tweet by 1 of the developers thinking out loud (en prob hoping) that they could make it a DLC. It was not up to him (or his responsibility) to decide if thats possible, so that being said, not a legitimate source. It would be the same thing as if your direct collegue says to you: you will get an pay raise, and then you try to hold your boss accountable for not getting that raise. It makes no sense, people just talk before they think

    Nobody is happy with the game? I am you should just say most or yourself because there alot about asa I don't like but there's alot I do like it's not perfect alot would probably agree on that but you can't really say nobody wants asa or likes asa I do my community does its not huge or anything we are only 83 ppl but we all love the game an play the game we wouldn't if we didn't want to or didn't enjoy the game I get your upset an don't like or want the game but you don't speak for everyone so if asa isn't your kind of game or your unhappy with it then say that don't need to blow it out of proportion an claim everyone hates it an didnt want the game and again I'm not saying it's perfect but I'm enjoying it an alot of other ppl are as well just because you aren't or you see ppl angry about decisions being made or features added or removed doesn't mean nobody wants asa or likes it. I see ppl saying game is dead for months because it has less players than ase that's also just not accurate sure more players are on ase but not because asa is dead if there's 10k ppl playing its not dead it might be less popular then ase at that time but not a dead game again these statements gets blow out of proportion an exaggerated to the extreme why? Just be honest say you don't like a game not that nobody likes it cause someone will always like something others hate so it'll never be true for gaming what you like I might not an vice versa don't say game is dead just because it doesn't have as many players as the forst game or it didn't meet your high expectations its not dead its just not as popular as others or didn't meet expectations you gave it ppl need to stop over reacting an exaggerating an be honest an truthful. If game is dead then it wouldn't get content or updates nobody would currently be playing it right? If nobody liked the game or wanted asa an they wanted ark 2 or ase to keep going would asa have 10-15k ppl playing game they don't like or want? See how silly that sounds and again it's not perfect if you don't like it fine say you don't like it if you are unhappy say that or don't play the game theres tons of great games to play so many older so many new ones that are doing great this year there's always gonna be a good game to go to old or new pick one

    Things are worse and a loud minority being the pve tourists on pvp servers is complaining about core gameplay mechanics and devs are changing pvp because of it. The cryo pod changes from people obnoxiously posting everywhere that cryopods ruined the game everywhere on social media. As a result cryos were nerfed into the ground pvp is unplayable and slowed down so much you cant throw a rhynio out to pick a stego off of your base because there is an enemy dino nearby, even though you already have to wait 5 minutes and have a cryo fridge to use cryo pods. All this because some tiny minority of players couldnt grasp how to play an open world pvp survival craft and got wiped. These players grasp onto anything they can to complain their way out of acccountability for getting wiped on pvp and say the cryo pods ruined the game. You cant play pvp like its pve you come to the servers and build big open bases and get upset you got raided. This isnt a roleplay cluster you dont go complaining because someone ruined your roleplay experience and wiped your base. The loud minority of pve players who try pvp and quit after being wiped will usually go back to pve and still make posts on social media and reply to every youtube video that a core gameplay mechanic used in pvp is ruining the game because they couldnt grasp how to learn why you got wiped and get better

  • @TiiaAurora

    Nah PvE had nothing to do with Cryos. They were despised from the lead devs from the beginning but were needed for performance. To be able to bring them back at all this was the compromise.
