And the backstage shots were because it was also Hazuki’s birthday (one of ths guitarists, the one with the blue guitar)

It was Hazuki's birthday party and also Tamu's return to the band after her maternity leave. The reason Mayu is facing Tamu is because the song was dedicated to her. This song hits just right in the heart strings, doesn't it? Thing is, most of their songs are like this. Powerfully uplifting, and exuding girl power throughout their lyrics and music. Wait till you hear her scream. You haven't heard anything yet. As for the video, she's not facing backwards. They're playing in a circle, all facing each other, with a bit of a focus on the drummer, as this song was dedicated to her. There's no live audience to face😂. I've personally seen them live 4 times. And let me tell you, in person this song hits even harder when she DOES face the audience. They are an amazing band.

You may like Scandal. They're an all-female rock band. Shunkan Sentimental might be a good introduction. Do as Infinity is a two-member, female-fronted band. Their song Fukai Mori is really neat. Kalafina was another cool pop/rock group; you could try their song Lacrimosa. There's also Aimer, who's a solo artist. Her song Brave Shine is pretty bittersweet.

J-Pop artists tend toward higher "kawaii" (childlike cute) vocals. J-ROCK and J-METAL artists more typically sing from their natural registers. Nemophila is hard rock and metal. Most music from all-woman Japanese rock and metal groups is positive, often encouraging us to overcome and rise above. I think it is great you checked out the lyrics. Now try re-reading them with the thought in mind that they are celebrating the new life Tamu just brought into the world and making these life-affirming vibes as blessing on the child and her. I see that in the feelings and tears seen here. BTW, their newest (I think) song Amateras is about the goddess of Light and appears to me to be saying they see themselves and their mission as to manifest (spiritual) light in metal. Mayu can do harsh metal death growls and instantly be doing soaring beautiful "clean" vocals so fast it's dizzying. As in Dissension and several others. Hang on, you have a wild (but fun) ride ahead. BTW, Nemophila is a genus of five petaled flower (five group members) that is native to North America (like rock and roll) but popular in Japan (likewise). The flowers mostly have names like Baby Blue Eyes.

Interesting first exposure to Nemophila. If this is the only song you ever see by them you will definitely be missing the greater truth of who Nemophila are. This is just one small facet of their ability and definitely not typical of their usual fare. I highly encourage you to try some more.

Don't be fooled this song is welcoming the drummer back from maternity leave they have some really hard rock songs. Zen is probably the heaviest but it's a very screamy band. The drummer has 2 children now and the singer has one but this is a kick ass band. She's backwards because she's singing to Tamu.
