Dr I want to thank you for a life saving incident. I m 18yo, Yesterday my brother in law (sisters side) had a road accident..he was at backseat of motorbike & didn't wear helmet, when taken to a govt hospital the doctor said he is ok no need to to do any kind of diagnosis although he was bleeding from his crown & vomiting constantly, when I heard that I insisted 100 times that no doctor can say whether smtng is wrong without a diagnosis like MRI (This is one of the things I learnt from you❤️).. the next day when they did that..they found he had severe injury to the head & blood clot..which could've killed him. I m just thankfull to God that I have encountered you🥹..I m aspiring to be a doctor & human like you in the future ..God bless🫂❤️

Dr. Mike, as someone who has suffered with severe vaginismus, I'm so happy to see it mentioned in this video. There is not enough awareness of the condition, and many women try to painfully put up with it for years before seeking treatment, because of misinformation, shame, and thinking that sex is supposed to be painful for us, when that's just not supposed to be the case. Botox is one treatment that is used more as a secondary option and in conjunction with physical and/or mental therapy. So many suffer in silence. Hopefully this little bit of info can help someone.

Botox is also used in the vocal cords-when someone has aphonia due to paralysis of a vocal cord in the open position, Botox can be injected to help make the cord more closed, allowing the non paralyzed cord to make contact with it during phonation, thus restoring a person’s voice.

I work for a Neurologist and we are heavily using it to help with migraine patients. I can happily say, about 95% of our patients notice a huge difference ☺️. However, our government in Canada does not support this treatment, therefore does not want to assist in helping patients to pay for it. So a lot of times, patients need to have extended benefits to cover the majority of the cost, in order to get it.

I’ve been getting quarterly Botox for chronic migraines for about a year now and the severity of the headaches has become so manageable. It’s life changing.
I have a super rare (and minor) medical condition that's been discovered in the past few years known as R-CPD. Essentially one of the muscles in my throat responsible for letting food go down and letting gas pass back up only works 'one way', so food can go down, but I'm almost entirely unable to burp or pass gas upwards. The results are gas bloating (sometimes painful cramps), weird digestive noises, and possible link to IBS (which I have), among a few other little things. The current treatment for it is to get a botox injection into the aforementioned muscle, which relaxes it and causes it to 'work properly'. I haven't gotten the treatment yet because only a few places do it, but yeah! Botox can be very useful.

RCPD gang. I’ve had the treatment once but need to get it again as the muscle stopped working properly after the Botox wore off. But guys while it was working it was life changing
My friend uses this for her chronic migraines. My migraines aren't frequent enough to warrant it. However, I have multiple sclerosis and just had my second Botox treatment for my bladder yesterday. Complete lifechanger. I told my fellow MS Warriors that it is a miracle of modern science. I highly recommend it. No need to sit and suffer in silence when help is available. 🧡💜🧡
I had Botox injected into my upper eye muscle to purposefully paralyze my eyelid. This was to help heal my cornea.
It’s also very effective for TMJ!
My grandma got Botox in her neck muscles due to dystonia from Parkinson’s, which would spasm and pull her head down. It was super beneficial in allowing those muscles to relax
I have Tourette's Syndrome, causing tics similar to the movements of cervical dystonia, among others. When I went to the neurologist to talk to him about how bad my tics have gotten and told him how my neck and upper back muscles were constantly tense from those specific tics, he referred me to a place to get botox in the neck muscles. I am also saving money to get some in my jaw for my TMJ disorder. I have severe bruxism at even during the day at times, nothing has helped. My dentist told me to not take muscle relaxants since there's a risk it could make my jaw slide off completely. It's quite incredible how versatile it can be!
I'm physically disabled with Spina Bifida and I'm incontinent so I take medication wear adult diapers. Couple years ago I found out that Moss Rehab of Philadelphia have a Spina Bifida program and I get Botox treatment for my bladder. My sister is a stroke survivor but she has no movement on her left side so she gets Botox treatment on her left arm and leg.
I have hyperhydrosis (we believe it’s primary) and I am seeing a dermatologist for it. I’ve been dealing with this for a couple years and now started seeking help. I go though 5-6 shirts a day. So I can’t wear short sleeves or long sleeves(I wear long sleeve’s only if I need to.) So we tried antiseptics but none isn’t working. So we are now trying Botox and I get my first injection next week. And I honestly cannot wait
Botox REALLY works for treating hyperhidrosis! Unfortunately for me, hyperhidrosis is considered an illness in the EU but NOT in Sweden where I live. I've gone through two treatments. The first one lasted 3-4 months, but the second lasted 15 WONDERFUL months! Initially after the first treatment, I had "ghost sweating", as it felt like I was severely sweating from my head, but when I touched it, it was completely dry! Living with hyperhidrosis means that you always need to have a few spare sets of clothing at work. Once I start sweating because of my condition, it can take 30-120 minutes before it stops, regardless of my environment. I can highly recommend botox as a treatment if you can afford it. My treatment consisted of 400-500 tiny injections on my head and torso, and took well over an hour each time.
Finding botox treatment for migraines completely changed my life. I was having at least one migraine a week and I had no life. I was constantly under the threat of disciplinary action from work due to time off sick. The agony was unbearable. I was eventually referred to the neurology department at my local hospital and, having looked at my history and all the drugs I'd been on, the consultant immediately recommended me for botox. I had my first injections done there and then. In the last 10 years, I've only had 8 migraines, which is nothing short of a miracle. I'm so unbelievably happy that I found this treatment.
Dr Mike is one of the best KZreadrs I have ever seen. I have so much more appreciation for medicine because of him. Thanks so much for your work.
U sound sick u ok?
I've received suggestion for botox as an off-label use to help with severe TMJ. Was expecting to see it on the list! 🤣 Truly the "dose makes the poison", as botulinum toxin is one of, if not the most potent neurotoxin known to exist. Wild!

I have something on a throat muscle (sorry for the lack of medical specific terms) that makes me unable to burp. Which sounds like not that important, but it causes some discomforting things to happen. For example, I can't drink beers or sodas because of the carbonated gas. Since I cant burp, the gas will just accumulate and it gets to a point where I can't even be standing up or breathe properly. That to say: the treatment for this condition, from what I've seen, is using botox to relax the throat muscles that allow for burping

it's also used off-label for PGAD (persistant genital arousal) by freezing the nerves around the clitoris and labia to prevent oversensitivity. I believe you watched a doctor prescribe it in an episode about rare conditions you commented on

I have a whole bunch of Botox around my head to try and reduce my ridiculous migraines. But I am hoping to look into getting it for TMJ as well.
I work with brain injury patients and these injections are really useful with secretion management as well. The patient might have lost cough reflex and are in increased aspiration risk. We request frequently botox from the specialists if these become frequent episodes despite all other professional input. 😊
Lots of my Tourette’s mates have had Botox to help reduce tics. I hate feeling restricted which is why I haven’t gone for it, but I know some find it gives them relief. I’m not exactly sure if it really does restrict the movement as much as my friend described it. And everyone is different. But with meds quite often having annoying side effects, for some botox is a really good option.
RCPD is a condition that cause the inability to burp. The current treatment is injecting Botox into the muscle that allows people to burp. I’ve had this done once and am going to get it again as it can take a few goes for the muscle to work correctly once the Botox wears off but it is super helpful for a surprisingly debilitating condition.

It makes sense that people getting botox would report reduced depression, especially if it's for cosmetic reasons. They're probably just less depressed because they're happier with their appearance, or because their medical problem has been helped by the botox in non-cosmetic cases.

There is a study presented by Vera Birkenbihl (hopefully written correct) that even a fake smile will produce "happy" hormones. Maybe this offlabel use goes in that direction

Your videos make me happy
I got my first round of botox for rcpd (no burp). Getting a second one somewhere this year. I cannot burp, due to botox I finally can!
Hi dr mike You should do a video on how to become a doctor or the pros and cons of being a doctor
Wow!! Really enlightening to learn from the video and comment section about Botox outside of cosmetic treatments.
