Always, but, I live in Milledgeville Ga. And as a new fig grower, we have similar climates. So I Like, Subscribe, and ring the bell. There aren't a lot of fig growers in our state, we can learn a lot from each other...

@@alabamagirl2725 me too girl.. have you noticed the fig growers on KZread, have valuable info, but, they are from Pennsylvania, Oregon, Illinois etc.. they do have amazing information, but nothing beats a grower from our climate and our zone..

The pulled up fig root I told you about that my friend gave me … is doing incredibly well in the pot - now that it’s past the shock! And out of 6 cuttings I took from a different fig that was gifted to me by my neighbor- 4 are sprouting leaves! 😳😃

I put my Olympian in a pot. I have had a petite negra since 2022 in a pot. I have up potted it each spring. Each year it gets a little bigger and produces more. Super delicious, can’t wait till next year to try the Olympian. Planning to put it in the ground spring 2024 or 2025.

Zone 5 and all mine are in 5 gallon pots. I drag them to the basement every November. I do alright. My hip high fig forest. Lol

I love it when you fig around . Thanks for all your great info. Don’t give up on that brown turkey log. .. it will root , just needs more time .

Thanks for the log update. Can I suggest an experiment? If folks pot up the figs, should they think of air pruning? How would you feel about testing that out for us? ;)

My figs are in pots. I up pot as soon as I get a tree. 15 gallon seems about right. I like being able to move things around as things change.

I've been dying to see the Brown Turkey after y'all pruned it.. looks like you remembered to water it !! I love the pruning videos, I get so excited to see the growth the following season..

I have one in a pot that has grown about three feet since Spring.

I have plenty of house plants. I can't wait to grow a fig in a pot. I have a Chicago hardy here in north Missouri in ground outside and basically I'm just growing a plant. It's come back for 3 yrs and nothing. I just have gave up on figs I guess for my area. I can't wait to grow one and take it inside

I just up-potted my Conadria I got from you a year ago from a 2 gallon pot to a 10 gallon pot. It’s pretty large and full of figs. I knew I couldn’t go into the summer with that small pot. I was very careful with it and didn’t lose any figs from up-potting. I also tented it with a fruit tree bag so that I could enjoy the figs this year instead of the birds.

Same here with our Conadria Fig in Maryland. A wee transplant from you last Spring has grown into a great looking tree that is full of beautiful figs. I have it in a 5 gallon pot & it loves life. I’ll send more pix but it’s a beaut! We should be Picking the first ripe ones soon!

I have three fig trees in five gallon pots that live outdoors in the summer and fall but I move em into the greenhouse for winter cause although we’re in Arizona our elevation is 5500 feet and it can get down to 15 degrees and snow over a foot. I just trim out the center growth and they make fruit.

My fig tree I got from you I put in a 5 gallon bucket for the first year and then planted it out last spring. It's now loaded with figs. Wish they would ripen already. 😀

I wonder if part of the reason the potted Salem Dart is growing better is because of the extra warmth imparted by the black pot soaking up the sun, versus the light mulch around the in ground one reflecting much of the heat away? Up here in Oregon I'm considering pulling back the wood chips around our fig tree and just sticking with compost as the mulch, since it's darker and we need all the heat we can scrape together to get our tree to produce.

Some areas in the South (like North Carolina) can have nematodes (little worms) that kill fig trees. 90% of my fig trees (about 200) are started in 5 gallon buckets. Then the next year they go to a ten gallon, and then either in the ground or to a 25 gallon tree pot. The biggest thing in pots is that you need to make sure and add new soil every year. Mulch with pine bark or some other mulch, and make sure you give them water after three or four days of drying out. The pots make water almost repellent, and you will need to water regularly, This year I got the best breba figs ever. All the LSU varieties (Gold, Champagne, Celeste, Scotts black, O'Rourke) produced heavy Spring figs, and the November crop are loaded and should be huge. (Yes, you can get TWO crops of figs in a year). I have a Lyndhurst White fig, Travis, that you have got to try!!! It tastes peachy!! No lie. Thanks for the videos and keep on growing.

I have one potted fig of unknown origins and it's doing great in the pot. However it seems to be outgrowing the 15 gal pot so I will be up potting it this fall/winter.

I like the benefits of growing in frig in pots lol

Hi!! I understand more about fig tress from watching this video … thank you … Question? When you talked about preserving the tree in the pot … do you mean store it over winter in an unheated protected space?

Store it in a place where it will be protected from temps in the low 20s and teens, but where it will experience enough cold to go dormant.

Thank you for making this video! I am growing the tree I got from you last year in a pot still (a bigger one than it came in). But my friend who had figs told me I need to get it in the ground. I'm not sure how much longer we will be living in our house, so I'm reluctant to plant it in the ground. :0

Plant it into a 5 gallon bucket. Easily moved but lots of space.

Thank you Travis! This gives me hope. I did receive my Olympian Fig a few weeks ago and I couldn’t decide what size pot to put it in. I doubt it will survive winters here in Ohio so I plan to leave it in a pot and figure out how to overwinter it. I have two or three choices. In an unheated greenhouse, in the house or basement. Any suggestions on overwintering would be great, or I have some research to do.

You want it to experience enough cold so that it goes dormant, but keep it from experiencing anything in the low 20s if you can.

Hey Travis, I have young trees. I’ve started the sun is burning the leaves. I’ve moved them into the shade. Don’t know what to do. They need sun to grow. I live in Bakersfield, California Kern county it turned 106 it cooked a new leaf that just formed on my tree leaf was probably three or four days old curled up from the heat

Where do you live? Some dappled shade is fine, especially young trees. OR, erect some shade cloth.

Are you sure it's the sun burning the leaves and not just rust that usually comes with summer temps?

You could. A lot of the commercial growers around here do that.

Hey Travis, I grew up with planting a four acre garden with my parents until about five years after I married. Then they quit gardening and made the land an investment property. Since then my husband and I have planted 1 to 3 acre gardens. Now that we are aging we are moving to raised beds and smaller in ground rows. However, I say all that to tell you even though I have garden history, I have learned so much from your videos. Your figs look great. But I'm writing in regard to an another topic. I have Kudzu Bugs in my beans planted in my raised beds. Do you have any information on how to get rid of them. In my research they are fairly new and no exact way to eradicate them organically. Do you have any information who to get rid of them? Thanks BJ

Just ordered a Brooklyn White. I live in Powhatan, AR-near the Missouri border. Whatever the variety is in the yard (purchased years ago at Home Depot) dies back every year and doesn’t get big enough to produce any fruit. Should I plant the Brooklyn White in a pot as you describe in your video? Also, can I dig up the other fig tree and baby it in a pot? Thanks in advance for the advice.

The bigger the pot, the better. But if you live in a climate where you'd need to protect it through the winter, you don't want a pot so big that you can't move it.
