🎉 Surprise, this pattern isn't as scary as it seems // MELIDES Dress Vlog #3 // Goodknits

Continuing with documenting the knitting process of my MELIDES dress. In this Vlog I'll take you through the wins I've had the last couple weeks with knitting the bodice. This pattern is all about prep work and so long as you read thoroughly and make notes on your specific size it really isn't as daunting as it seems. It's also working up surprisingly fast!

Wow, you can be very proud of you! This will be a masterpiece! ❤ The knitting is one thing but to grade / tailoring / make it to fit to the body is something different…You will get it done and it will look amazing ❤ Do not give up…it is beautiful 🤩 Greetings from Germany, Daniela

I love that color so much! as someone who has knit several things that are accidentally too small in the bust and then never wear them - maybe you could try blocking it now to see the how to top fits post block? personally I would be worried about it being too tight around my bust (I am also between sizes where my bust is a size larger than everything else in every pattern 🙃)

Ended up doing a mid-project block and happy to report all fits as expected!

What are you wearing?! It's gorgeous! I love the minimal finishing. I'll go search your channel when I'm done with this video :) (I'm referring to the cardigan in the beginning of the video)

Cardigan No4! Assume you found the previous podcast but if not it's Podcast 11 that has the full deep dive on it.

It looks lovely but I hope it's not too see through 🙈 Will there be an edging added on? I don't think I could handle those tubes flopping around lol... I would say "FORGET THIS" and put my strap stitches on big safety pins or a loop of scrap yarn or something 😂😂😂

😂 I ended up getting it down to 2 try-on tubes now so that helps. icord edging will be applied to the whole piece at the end which will really help with overall look

I loved this one a lot, especially I am so happy for you and your reignited passion for books as I am an avid reader myself (who writes long sentences 😅)! I always read a few books at the same time, I am more of an emotional reader (reading what I feel I need at this time). All your books are now on by tbr list 😅 I love fantasy historical romance😊 oder meshed together or alone😅 thank you ❤❤

Ooh, I'm nervous about the bodice width too. Its so hard to guess how things will block out or sit once the neckline, or in this case, the straps, are done. It didn't look like you measured the bust width in the video, did she provide a measurement? Has your gauge changed at all as you've knit? I've only knit two sweaters, but that's happened to me both times. I've also heard knitters say that when you block something to stretch wider, increasing the width shortens the length, so maybe the dress was designed with that in mind? Are you able to finish the straps and do a mid-project block? I've seen other knitters do it on big projects like this to make sure. Sorry for all the questions, they don't have to be answered. I'm just invested lol.

She only gave the measurements for the height from what I can see and those are correct minus the short straps. I checked and my gauge is same as my pre-blocked swatch so I am on track which gives me confidence. Still opting to do a mid-project block just to be 100% sure though as it would be awful if I finished and it didn't fit. The top would be much easier to knit up again if I need to.

Yess, the same gauge would give me confidence too. I'm excited to see how the blocking goes! Also agree that it'd be easy to reknit. It seems the mathing is the hardest part. I'm a better sewist than knitter so I'd probably do alterations that way rather than reknitting, but either way its a quick fix.
