As an American who use to like Stephen Colbert & supports the Canadian Freedom Convoy, I would like to say sorry on his behalf. He's a sell out. 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦

As an Indigenous Canadian, I can tell you that the racist presence is strong here. And for the most part, outside of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, they're out and proud. What's even more pathetic than their backwards, ignorant mentality, is their idolization of Amerikkkan racists. From full on KKK communities, to Confederate and 'Don't Tread On Me' flags and a nauseating hard on for Trump, including hopes and prayers that we get our own version, to adopting just about every Qanunce tinfoil hat brigade conspiracy and false belief, they're seriously Stans of everything Amerikkkan and it's just sickening. People think Canada is all rainbow flags, universal healthcare and gay marriages, but I assure you, our Nation has it's own skeletons (like the THOUSANDS of corpses of murdered and discarded Indigenous babies and children that were recently uncovered at Residential schools and Church grounds across Canada.). I watched it because it was on where I work and I was struck by the fact that the huge singer masks are Still more natural looking than the conglomerations of plastic surgery and fake lashes/nails/boobs that are judging the competition. Once you get hooked on the Hollywood lifestyle, apparently, nothing is off the table.

(I forget the exact details, but their life will be easier and I am happy for them about that, even if I am angry because the misinformation she has spread will cause children to be harmed by preventable disease.

@@opencommentsbbcnewsnight1704 Although it should be noted, a lot of that support is because they're truckers, and has nothing to do with their beliefs. The vast distances of travel required to goods to Canadian cities has given the average citizen there a more favorable view of trucking than we have in the US; one could even say they have the same favorable view as a doctor because they can quite literally be the difference between life and death in a lot of the small towns on the outskirts. So a lot of people just automatically support them, in much the same way that British citizens automatically support the Queen.

I moved there over two years ago from the US and it's been great. I've been happier and more stable in my life than I can recall. Anyhow, what's going on in Ottawa and all the fanfare surrounding it is really just a small minority groups, and it's also been at least partially funded by.....of course.....neo nazi groups.

The best part for me was when Stephen said, "If you're not familiar with The Masked singer... congratulations," and before I realized I was speaking I actually said out loud, "Thank you."

Either they pay it in taxes or they pay it with genuine service...build a municipal facility and hand the deed over to the local, state, or federal government. Spend a few million to revitalize a community as a service. Hell, look at the example of James Smithson, who gave his whole fortune to the USA for an institution of knowledge...today, we know that, as the Smithsonian. (The Air and Space museum is da bomb, man, and the American History Museum literally had da bomb...or a model of one. Fat man. It was in an exhibition on the information age.) I can appreciate those who made their fortune from the ground up. But freedom isn't free, and part of citizenship is a responsibility...if you have an income, you pay a fair share, with the expectation that you will get the services for which your tax dollars paid. Infrastructure, public assistance, emergency services. Having an ultra-wealthy caste is what led us into a Great Depression in 1920.

I am not in support of the Freedom Convoy however it should be noted that the individuals with the Confederate flag and Nazi paraphernalia were asked to leave by the truckers. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Terry Fox monument were cleaned by the truckers and some of them are actually picking up their trash.
