SURGEON exposes the real Risks with hernia MESH

Спорт

Simply sewing tissues together to fix hernias rarely works. Hernias have been a problem in humankind since civilization formed and writing was possible. The advent of implantable meshes has resulted in real benefits for patients undergoing hernia operations.
If you are having a hernia repair, more than likely, you will have a mesh implanted.
Having a mesh implanted has its risks. I made a video years ago discussing hernia meshes, and it is time for a new video. Here I explain some of the most common risks associated with a hernia mesh. Make sure to watch this before your hernia surgery.

Reading some of these comments in here I can’t believe people want so long with an inguinal hernia. I had one in 2009 on the right side. It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life. I was in Germany at the time and I couldn’t wait for the doctor to get me in to get it done. He used mesh and so far so good.

I had laparoscopic mesh back around 2001 and never had any complications. Not long after the surgery I never had even the slightest reminder that anything had ever been wrong. I ran the marathon that year, and in those days did weight training until decades later when COVID closed down the gyms. I still run, but at my present age very slowly.

they used to but the rate of recurrence was very high because abdominal wall pressure is very strong. The expansion of the internal abdominal wall tears a primary suture closure back open which is why they began using mesh. they are coming out with mesh that fully absorbs and disappears over time therefore its your own collagen covering the defect after abosrption.

I had surgery 5 years ago. I too felt fine afterward. But mesh is a foreign object in the body. Your body changes over time. Mesh doesn't. Every now and then I feel extreme pain in the area where the mesh is. Most days I am fine. If I knew then what I know now I would have insisted on surgery without mesh even though the risk of reoccurrence is higher. My advice is to continue to work out, diet and exercise so that your body doesn't make too many changes.

One year later i figure out (not a doctor) i pulled a pelvic muscle that affected the testicle cord and that the mesh made these issue's worse. it's abit similar, that after i got my laparoscopic surgery done, i felt something that i've never felt before in the past (before surgery). initially i felt discomfort around my pelvic and groin area, urinating feels like a torture and it felt like im having a UTI, but it doesn't burn when i urinate. after 4 weeks have passed, the pain is 80% reduced, and i am still having around 20% discomfort. I then turned to TCM that alleviates the discomfort i am having. I went to the local TCM practitioner in my area and he prescribed me powder capsules that supposed to reduce the discomfort, the TCM medication i consumed is similar to the patented TCM medication that you guys can find on the internet called "Ba Zheng San" - but my local TCM practitioner added few more herbs on top of that. I've been taking it for a week and it gives me around 10% discomfort. I know that TCM doesn't work the same like Western medication, TCM works slower but sure, but at least no harsh side effects like many antibiotics do. On top of the TCM i took, i also consume quercetin supplements and been doing kegel exercise too. l am just hoping that this will get resolved soon in 3-6 months.

And since then I've been having stabbing pains on the left side of my pelvis and it feels like it's the mesh or something internally stabbing me along with testicle pain. I've had 2 panic attacks and have been to Dr's, urologists, ER's and none of them are exactly sure what it is. And It just doesn't sit right with me. I've already been on pills an could still feel the pain an they just messed my stomach up. But they also have found an epydidmal cyst on my testicle thru an ultrasound an just looking up symptoms on google it seems to me now it could be the cyst causing the pain. He said "no problem" as he knew some 20+ methods to repair a hernia and would decide on the method to use when he got in and saw the condition of the nearby body parts. He made no effort to inform me of the benefits of mesh use -- maybe he did not think them to be great enough to bother informing me. There is also a bulge just above my navel and I can feel the side walls of my stomach muscles when I lie down and let gravity help to push it all back in, the opening feels like a good 1.5" (4cm). I'm told I'll need a mesh repair as it's going to be a rebuild. I am scared and frightened as I've heard of problems in years past with mesh getting stiff and painfull. My surgeon told me that they have a new mesh and that the old one was problematic. He must've been right. I feel great. The first six weeks were sucky, but since then its been all down hill. I hope you are telling people that the mesh can leave people disabled, lose body parts, can fuse and migrate into other tissue. Recurrence can happen with mesh too, the Shouldice centre is better equipped for recurrence. As a patient whom has had a defective mesh implanted, I can safely say this surgeon knows very little in how mesh can harm people.

These include bisphenols and phthalates, which disrupt the endocrine system and have links to reproductive harm, cancer risk, and metabolic disorders1. Additionally, tiny microplastics, found in food, water, and air, can leach chemicals and present their own risks12. Plastic production is high, and its non-biodegradability threatens the environment3. Thousands of chemicals in plastics, some unregulated, may impact health4. I had my surgery back in 2005 at that time and never heard of Dr.Desarda because he was in India and not in the states yet. It's great not having great lumps popping out down there anymore. Feeling very normal and glad I had them both done at the same time. I did live with one for about ten years and then the other one popped out. Was cheaper getting both done at the same time, about 10K. I thought of it like cosmetic surgery. If people get implants done all the time for vanity reasons why wouldn't I get a hernia done for a good reason?

@@computerblue01 of course. Really the worst day was day two, but in fairness, they had warned me about it. It’s because your surgeon will put some internal anaesthetic which wears off about 48 hours after the surgery, and that’s why day two it’s the worst time. Now don’t imagine some horrible unimaginable pain. It’s just sore, and then you go online to find out why you’re sore, and you find out all these horror stories which, as you say mainly reflect how things used to be. But to give you an idea I was back at work on day five I’m a musician, and on day eight I was on stage giving a piano concert. I have been literally pain-free since about day 8. I kept forgetting to take the painkillers that they prescribed me because I wasn’t in any pain. You’ve got to be careful and remember not to lift more than 5 kgn it’s easy to forget because I really felt absolutely fine and normal. I’m going to be four weeks since the operation in a couple of days, and they will let me start lifting my own bag to go to work, which is the only thing wasn’t allowed to do. I have full trust in the doctors. Listen carefully to what they tell you about after-care, listen carefully to the physiotherapist, who will visit you either just before, or after surgery, and do the very simple physical exercises that they give you. It’s really important that you don’t just lie in bed, that you move as early as you can so that it heals not just in straight line, but actually it heals organically around your body movements. Roughly 24 hours after surgery I was up by myself in the house, going up and down the stairs, Was completely independent and didn’t need any support walking. You will be absolutely fine. Listen carefully to the advice and be proactive, move as early as you can, and do the physio exercises. On day one I could barely do them , but then it gets better. And that’s the thing - to do them a little every day. You have to lift up your knee and on day two I over did it and it sent shooting pains, but that was because I forced it. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Where are you having it done? I was in central London.

The surgeon told me the internal stitches will not dissolve for extra strength. I now have two meshes in the area. I know these things can fail and I’ve heard of terrible pain stories on the internet. I say I’m confused though delighted that I haven’t had any of the pain associated with failure. Have you looked into radiofrequency nerve ablation? I'm about to go through it after 2 hernia repairs and 4 months of post surgical pain. A lidocaine nerve block seems to show promise that the real surgery will help.

Had my surgery done with mesh 6 months ago. Had a much longer recovery with a decent amount of pulling tissue type of pain than what has been stated of 4 to 6 weeks. As time went on is did get better but certain random movements cause knee dropping pain. Recently had a sciatica problem which needed Therapy core strengthening exercises. A month after starting therapy things were getting better for the sciatica and we pushed a bit more (took it very slow and light at 1st). Then got more aggressive somewhat with therapy and also the next day I tripped and fell with NO obvious pain at all. Got up quickly without a problem. 2 days later my hernia pain (which never really went away. just some random movement causing pain like tissue and/or nerves fibers pulling apart) got so severe it dropped me to my knee and needed to have the surgeon look at it after 6 months. He said no infection or swelling and gave me some pain meds. Now 2 weeks later and I still have a lot of pain and soreness. Feels similar to a week after surgery with the sharp burning, pulling apart feeling I kept having but the core muscle don't feel weak. I've read all the problems some people have had and just hope I'm not going to be another one of them. I will say, there's plenty of studies about mesh problems, some of which down play the %'s of how many patients complain about it. But I've see enough people and read enough from others who have problems to know that it's not a very small amount who have issues. My doctor has been said to have a great reputation for the surgery, but although he's got a decent bedside manner I feel like I didn't get much input of the possibilities. I did do research for a maybe a week. More about which type of surgery was best. Open, laparoscopic or robotic. Not as much about the mesh issues down the line. I've now dug deeper and am hoping I'm not one of those with constant pain. Before this latest setback I could swing a golf club after a few months and do most out door work around the home, except digging or really heavy lifting. Now, I can only function with easy stuff. I'm hoping the fall I had just ripped the scar tissues, but that ripping tissue pain never completely went away before the setback. Just had less occurrences. People who may read need to know not just about the good outcomes. But those who have to deal with the bad too. It may be something to deal with for the rest of your life.

My experience was that I had occasional discomfort -- especially in situations like crossing legs like you mentioned -- but the discomfort faded and became less frequent with time. By a year out, only very occasional discomfort; at two years, none whatsoever. I would. be patient and enjoy being able to stand without having your intestine fall out of your abdomen; at three months you are no doubt still healing.

My husband and I went to the Shouldice hospital and we were so disappointed with how outdated it was. People have told me it was like staying at a hotel, and it was like staying at a very very old hotel. The hospital beds were very thin and uncomfortable, and they had such a strict Schedule for everybody that we left and went to a hospital had day surgery. My husband came home and he’s been fine ever since at Shouldice you have to stay for four days. Maybe if it really was like a hotel with nice comfortable beds but no, thank you. But that’s just my opinion, you have to make your own. And that little video they showed you that is what it looks like still.

I had a hernia mesh surgery 7 years ago, I injured myself at work back in August and felt my groin pull, I've been having abdomen and testicle pain since I've been to Drs, Urologist and General Surgeons been on pain pills and they barely worked for the pain. They think I ripped a stitch in the mesh or the scar tissue and its causing nerve pain and now they are recommending me to do nerve ablation. I feel like I need a redo hernia surgery but I feel as I'm not being heard. I just want to be pain free in Jesus name I pray you grant me healing! love your username tho lol, May God bless you!

Your experience is normal. You won't get a scar! The 3 small incisions are only to get the robotic arms into the abdomen and don't "mark" where your hernia was. It's like objects under a tent and reaching in to do something inside. If you have a long grabber, you aren't limited where you go in...

I had a hernia for 50 years and it never ever bothered me..Ive been training for 43 years including karate, boxing, weights and running..I recently went to the doctor with a foot problem whilst i was there my wife mentioned my hernia so he looked at it and said might be worth getting an operation..so i went to see a surgeon and explained ive had this for 50 years with no pain or problems with it so why should i have an operation..He said because there's a 2 percent chance of strangulation where i could die..So ive just had it repaired. My hernia was only very slightly raised area and i couldn't ever feel anything protruding up..The surgeon at my consultation never even examined or looked at it until the day of the operation whilst I was asleep..Its been a week of having the mesh and I'm in pain with periods of excruciating pain..Im worried it wont heal properly...
