Surfing New Zealand Workshop - Preparing for Competition

We live in an incredibly beautiful country surrounded by ocean and some of the best waves in the world. A largely untouched, raw and unforgiving coastline that has honed the skills of these 11 incredibly talented water men and women; Surfers who represent our country on the world stage 🇳🇿
.
This was 2 days spent in our performance camp in the build up to the Paris Olympics and multiple other events and challenges that lie ahead of these athletes. The main focus for this workshop evolved around mental skill development, breathing training, recovery, nervous system regulation, stress tolerance and improving the ability to shift from energised to relaxed states rapidly and in stressful situations. But most importantly it was about being a team and supporting each other.
.
Myself and our team have huge respect for these surfers and what they have and are going to achieve with often limited resources and funding. Our biggest asset is our story and our story is rich. Hard work, discipline, accountability and radical ownership of the process and how we turn up is what will forge change and success in a sport that demands a lot in order to succeed.
