Surfboard Restoration Al Merrick Modern Epoxy Repair

I found this modern, epoxy 5’10 Al Merrick short board on a council cleanup on the side of the road. Apart from the large cracked fibreglass across the top side which wrapped both edges it is in immaculate condition. It’s a perfect board for my 15 year old son. This video is its full restoration including expanding foam, epoxy resin, fibreglass and spray paint. Please comment on the restoration and repair process.

Very interesting stuff. I can watch projects all day. It is certainly work and the epoxy has health hazards. Glad ot see the respiratory and work done outdoors. Great to save a nice board!

Nice job bro! Tho it would be better if you replace the carbon strips instead of just painting it over.

I was thinking the same. Stringerless boards, don't they need the carbon?

This hurts my brain but, I can't look away. Good attempt though. I hope you don't sell these boards or charge people for repairs. Looks like you got a few on the go there.

Hi, any particular reason why you didn't apply a hot coat this time?

I did do a hot coat but left it out of the video. Probably should have included but tried to keep the video short
