Surface Pro X Student and Artist Review | Is This Beautiful Machine Worth It?

Ғылым және технология

The Surface Pro X has a beautiful design with the 13" Display in the same footprint as the surface pro 7. I mostly use the surface pro for OneNote and classwork so that is what I am giving my feedback on. I also do a quick timelapse of me drawing on it and give my thoughts on the slim pen. I do some comparison between the surface pro 6 and surface pro x as well as some comparison with the surface slim pen and the surface pro pen.
Surface Pro X: amzn.to/2QEAela
60watt USB C Charger: amzn.to/2sIDfcs
You can use these for both surface pro x and pr 7 and will charge them at their appropriate wattage.
Xiaomi Power Bank 3 Pro (one I use): bit.ly/2P61hs4
Recommended Powerbanks:
Ravpower 60W: amzn.to/2RKksWH
Anker PowerCore: amzn.to/364yTKk
This is my first windows on ARM laptop. I really enjoyed using the surface pro x in class. It was fast and responsive to opening OneNote and my digital textbooks. I had no issues getting my work done. This is great for those who use OneNote and other office apps and don't really need to use any other heavy programs that are not supported on here. You can still download Adobe Photoshop, but it will have to be the 32-bit version which limits the amount of ram that it can use.
The surface pro x doesn't support all programs here. As of now, it doesn't support my preferred drawing app. You won't be able to download the Sketchbook app in the windows store. had to download the 32-bit version online. It was a bit finicky and didn't have the pen tool that allowed for only drawing with the pen and moving around with the hand.
Thanks for watching my surface pro x real-life use video.

Cool video, so nice to see the SPX being used in the real world. I spend most of my day in OneNote and find the slim pen more comfortable than the previous version (probably weight related) and I don't have to 'hunt' for the button as much as on the rounder pen (I wish my OneNote pages looked as neat as the brief glimpse we saw of yours). I love my SPX but yeah the price was horrific so my old surface go and 2018 iPad will be going on eBay to offset the cost.

  • @ghtechreview

    @ghtechreview

    4 жыл бұрын

If you won't be downloading tons of apps and programs on it then I think you should be fine. I have been using the 128gb model on all of my Surface Pro devices since it has been enough for all my files and photos. I am usually left with 40gb of storage on it. It should be fairly simple to upgrade the SSD, you just unscrew the one screw holding it down and slide it out. It's the easiest way to replace the SSD that I have seen on a laptop. The only tricky part would be cloning the SSD to the new one if you haven't done that before. There are tons of videos on how to clone an SSD. I believe this is the type of SSD the surface pro x is using "(M.2 NVMe SSD 2230)." There will probably be more options available in the future.

@@Joshua-zv7gx So far it's really good for taking notes; it's got a good keyboard layout for coding however not every IDE has a 32 bit version but there's a good amount. Also use it for digital art real good there. However, it is a secondary device for me and it serves its purpose well. If youre gonna use it as a primary I would say go for the pro 7.

@Adnan Manna It works perfectly as a secondary device for my purposes. I use it a lot for note taking, programming on the go, and some digital art every once and a while. But if you need it to handle heavier applications I would suggest against it. Windows ARM 32bit compatibility is pretty shit. Hope this helps.

They are flat-out lying and don't know what they are talking about. Windows has 35 million apps/programs. It is impossible not to find multiple apps for your needs. Apple only had 1.9 million apps. So millions more apps don't work on iPads/MBs compared to the SPX.

It's a fair enough review but I have to disagree. I actually went from the 2016 MobileStudio 16 to this and find it outstanding, but this is with the caveat that I spend more than 90% of my time in Clip Studio. It's crazy how the 13" 3:2 screen literally feels as spacious as the 15.3" 16:9 screen on the MSP. The SPX also has the latest MS pen protocol in it and I think it's worth the extra price to have the hover lag shaved down to virtually nothing, just like on a Wacom PC. Lastly, for the time being, I think it's worth paying extra for the SPX over the iPad Pro because I'm able to use peripherals like the CSP Tab-mate and also view the brush cursor size. I've also heard that the build quality of the SPX feels a bit more solid while you may have to worry about bending the iPad, as if Apple's quest for the lightest weight comes at that cost.

He was recommending the surface pro 7 instead of the pro x because of the price and how you get Intel with surface pro 7. For me I wanted the bigger screen and that you can have a safe place to store the pen. If you are. Student you can get a hefty discount. I paid $1155 for everything.
