All I'm waiting for is Arm64 drivers from AMD and Nvidia so I can hook up an EGPU. GPD G1 will be perfect for portable setup.

These X-Elite spec sheets all have only USB4, which means they do not have 100% Thunderbolt support. Looking at the details, none of them list support for eGPUs. So, you should wait for the Intel in September if you want decent eGPU support on an ultrabook.

@@hexagonal7075 Only if the OEMs allow it, and I understand, like Apple Silicon, they do not. Maybe the graphic card makers are not happy that Qualcomm is taking their business by not using their dGPU, or ARM does not work on non-ARM graphics, I am not sure. But I would not recommend you buy these in the hope that one day they will support eGPUs. Apple continues to block GPU drivers, after four years, and who is to say that Qualcomm will not do the same clearly, it would be a stupid business decision as it means people will buy the cheapest X Elite and use an eGPU killing off next year's Pro-X Elite devices.

@@andyH_England Qualcomm said they have no problems with AMD or Nvidia GPU pairing with X elite. Don't know if AMD or Nvidia Arm64 GPU drivers on Windows. I think AMD has Arm64 GPU drivers on Linux.

@@hexagonal7075 I have searched the Internet and there is zero indication that EGPU Support is coming. Hence why I would say not to buy it if you need that feature. The same with Linux, the boot loader is locked and Qcomm couldn’t say if Microsoft would release it anytime soon.

I've been playing Witcher III and Genshin Impact on a Windows Dev Kit 2023 which has a Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 and around 50% of the performance of an X Elite. I found playing in a borderless windows Vs full screen often gave a better experience. Witcher III kept crashing when set to full screen but was much more stable using a borderless window. You can make it appear full screen by setting display resolution to match borderless window resolution. To initially open Genshin Impact after installing game and assets, I had to hold the key while pressing the start button on the launcher app. A pop-up window appeared allowing me to set a screen resolution lower than my 4K display resolution and check borderless option. Once the game has loaded, you can press + keys to rescale the borderless window the be full screen. The game then defaults to this configuration for subsequent runs.

“ARM are the most powerful processors on the market” Meanwhile, the 2015 game (The Witcher 3) barely reaches 60 frames on minimum graphics settings. ARM remained (Apple M) and remains and will remain for another 10 years the processor for 2D artists (weak for 3D) and office workers. No revolution in the world of processors. Meanwhile, my 3070 laptop handles it all without a connected charger much BETTER.

Samsung all the way. If you buy Asus and have a screen issue but a key has some fingernail marks, they may refuse you access to the screen warranty 😂😂😂

i wouldn't trust Asus due to what happend recently with their warranty policy.

There needs to be drivers for the igpu for these devices, and the ability to add dgpu if one wants to do so, but those gpus would have to be lower powered than their desktop counterparts for the time being.

The best rule is to buy deciding for what you have at the moment. ATM they promise a lot but the GPU drivers are very immature, DRM tools work only on real x86 and there’s no date for those things to be released. So, as of now, this is a great chip that has a rather weak iGPU (until drivers are fixed) and lot of compatibility issues. As I said before, I would definitely buy a Ryzen AI 9 chip over this.

does the x elite 78100 good enough to play fc24 ??? 45fps at 1080p would be quite playable already

My question is why is the laptops with x elite so darn expensive cause amd radeon 780 heck vega 7 is beating these adreno gpus and these laptops cost like 600 to 700 dollars

With 8000 series Ryzen, snapdragon battery is not better. Also wait for july 15th 9000 series ryzen 5 hx 370 ai strix point - it should murder these snapdragons!

Computers based on ARM architecture (just like Mac PCs) are not made for playing, but for working. If you want to play, buy a real gaming computer, or a portable console, as it was developed for this purpose.

You did put these laptops on performance mode right as there all really low compared to other reviews

Why does nobody test native arm games like wow

Looks like Qualcomm needs to put massive work on their graphics software and towards their chips to actually compete with Apple silicon .

These new computers are like you took all the ingredients for the MacBook m1 but you put them together wrong. About the only place where it is clearly Superior is video playback time of 15.5 hours, almost 1h more than macbook, 3x longer than x86/Intel. It's definitely inferior for playing games that run on both platforms and for video editing. The mac saves power by doing lots of special things to save memory. Take mac memory, multiply by 1.5x, then decide if you are happy with the mac price vs this price. Macs are still 15-20% more efficient. Please wait for the AMD HX 370 AI on July 15th. It should crush these devices!

I'm really perplexed to see reviews of this type and above all to read the comments that are absurdly useless and devoid of intelligent content. You can also do gaming tests. BUT does it make sense to do them on PCs that are absolutely not set up? Gaming machines are all something else. They are much more powerful, larger and heavier, capable of being powered to handle the power demands of dedicated graphics cards costing several hundred dollars. Do you think it's really smart to make such comparisons? These PCs with chip arm they are fabulous for the user group they are aimed at. Also, why spend time gaming with Arm chips when we all know that emulation X seriously compromises any kind of performance? But are you serious?
