After hours of hours of video to check on which headphones should I buy, I got it down to Surface 2 and XM3. I was about to click pay on the XM3 and then I saw this video. Thanks to you, I will now go for the surface. The points that are important for me are multi device, controls of the headphones, and I will use it for a lot of conference calls on video calls. Thank you for pointing out that Surface will be the headphones to go for it. Your videos are great and up there with all others great creators. Your channel is one of the most underrated channel on YT.

This comparison video is the best one I have seen so far on these two items. I feel like it gave me more info than MKBHD or Unbox Therapy (both great videos by the way). The noise cancellation test with the mic in the cup was huge in helping me to make a decision.

Great easy comparison that helped me understand what I was looking for. I am going to use mine for technology focused work, in which I will pair with my PC and use computer audio for conference calls. Microphone audio is huge at that point. Thank you! Also, multiple Bluetooth inputs a must as well.

How do you connect Sony WF 1003xm3 with phone then laptop? Do you need to reset the Sony after use the phone? Thank you for your reply.

Okay wow, firstly I have never seen a reviewer insert their lav mic into a pair of noise cancelling headphones in order to test the noise cancelling...had no idea that would work but it makes perfect sense! Keep doing that! an excellent way for someone who hasn't experienced noise cancelling/can't go to a store to try them on etc, to get a feel for the product. Surface HP2 are $399 preorder on the MS site here in australia, but can currently pick up a pair of the XM3's for $370 on kogan, this is a tough choice! If the HP2's come down in price in other stores, I'll be sold!

Hey bro, see if you can get student/Edu pricing on the Microsoft store - can nab it for AU$360. If the XM3s had a better microphone for calling, it would be worth it on sale. But given its microphone supposedly sucks, I’m thinking Surface Headphones 2. Wondering if there would be any launch sales...

How have you liked them? I’m considering both because I’m not an audiophile so I probably won’t notice the sound difference so the only differences that I am strongly considering is the wheels vs touch, the auto pause, multiple devices support, and comfortable-ness. The only the surface headphones still very comfortable in your opinion?

@@dannykurland3866 They are quite good! I only had issues getting it at first due to customs in my country haha But yeah, i love them, comfy and the audio is really good! Oh and the interface is better with the knobs, and the EQ in the app makes it even better with your custom settings :)

I just remembered that I subscribed your channel after watch your WH 1000XM3 review video, I even got one after that. Kudos to you ;)

Very informative and in depth Mark. I ordered then returned the much lauded XM3's. I found the sound to be overtuned like a Beats or a VModa's. I will be purchasing the Surface Headphones 2 because of the multi-link support as well as their (maintained from the previous version) ability to use a plug in microphone. The Sony's do the latter, but as you said, they struggle with the former. You have another subscriber after this video, well done.

How do the mics perform on a phone call in a noisy environment?

I just got the Mx3 for 259€ (2 days ago) and I didn't pick the surface over those. Having the best noise cancelling is worth any nice feature the surface got. This is true I wish the mx3 had such a smooth volume and noise cancelling button. The worst part is the non multiple device connexion, knowing that most poeple have at least a computer and a smartphone. Anyway, as I said, the noise cancelling is worth that if you're not always switching between multiple devices.

Love the Surface 2 Headphones. The volume and ANC dials alone make all the difference

Can you please comment on how does the multi-connect hold up during a phone call. I have had Average at best experience with it in some other headphones. During the multi connect the music would stop on my laptop allowing me to attend the call, but there would be so much noise that I'd have to disconnect the headphones from the laptop. I'd love to know how Surface pro handles this situation.

Thanks for the comp. I own the XM3s and love them, but they've been so frustrating for Zoom calls with students and colleagues. Never knew how much I needed another set for, as you put it, "all around" use. I'll definitely be pulling the trigger on the order. Plus, my wife always takes my 3s when she travels for work, which is fine, but when we travel together, she has to switch back to her old headphones or I use my Galaxy buds. Now, we'll have an extra pair for travel, and since she doesn't use as high a setting for ANC as I do, she'll be perfectly happy with the Surface 2s. I also just picked up the 16gb I7 Surface Book 3, so what better headset to pair and use than the 2s?

One question. You mention a lack of padding the the inner part of the xm cans. How about the size/diameter of each for big ears. As a comparison I've used Bose quiet comfort II and found them quite small.
