Surface Force Strategy

Responding to global challenges under the leadership of the CNO and guided by the precepts of our "Design for Maintaining Maritime Superiority" the U.S. Naval Surface Force has developed its "Surface Force Strategy" which describes the return to sea control and implementation of Distributed Lethality.

The HMS Hood was the British flagship in ww2 and it was ww1 era dreadnaught. It had some good battleships though such as the Lyon and after Pearl Harbor had more operable battleships then the USN but the real force came from carriers anyway.

People here saying "Put this in the next super bowl" but then half the people like me won't understand what they're saying if all they do is say words that hint at what they are actually trying to say. All these double meanings are so overwhelming for the brain, and they let you interpret the text and images in a negative light. If the navy wants to use this as a recruiting video for people who are smart enough to read out sonar bearings on a corvette then they need to make it A: Understandable to an average American and B: Not have words that can be interpreted as "We are the Aggressive, Warmongering Branch of the US Military." Still a good video, really makes me feel safe and it's good to know that we still have the strongest navy in the world.

rickinpa62 things are different in a so called "Blue Water" naval fight which is what the USN is gearing up for. Launching a volley of anti ship missiles or torpedoes at an enemy ship or sub is different to trying to fight an enemy that melts away. There is far more at stake politically if you try an manage specific engagements from the White House, hundreds or thousands of US service men and women are at stake in a naval war.

Sorry, Jon don't see a significant difference between ground and naval forces. We've had Naval vessels impounded by Iran and Russian planes violate air space rules over U.S. vessels without a response. Don't get me wrong I'm not looking to start a war and I understand from my Navy days that it's not unusual for Russia to push the boundaries as did we., but I still fail the see the difference between War Fighting and Warfare again sounds like PC Washington B.S.

Namely, if any modern warship detects incoming sea-skimming missiles, will it turn to point its bows towards them in order to present a smaller radar signature, or will it turn near-broadside on to them in order to open the firing arcs of all its point-defence guns? Thanks
