SURF FISHING NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Catching Pompano, Whiting and Bluefish in Rough Surf!

Фильм және анимация

Surf Fishing New Smyrna Beach, We caught Pompano, Whiting and some Bluefish in some pretty rough surf and strong current. The Pompano was probably a keeper but we usually don't keep them and she caught some decent Whiting on fishbites and sand fleas and even caught our first Bluefish with the fishbites!! We were going to make another trip in 2 days but got rained out and the conditions for the next 7-10 days for New Smyrna Beach don't look good. Surf Fishing the East coast of Florida during the winter time can be very tough!! March is probably the best time to catch a Trophy Blacktip Shark at New Smyrna Beach, So get ready!! Thanks for Watching!!

    if you don't mind, do you have a suggestion of a good place to fish at new smyrna? I've done a few days from the beach just south of the rock jetty at ponce inlet. Seemed ok but not the best.

    The Canaveral National Seashore Park is a good place to Surf Fish. They have a 2 parks that you can access with the same pass, One is in NSB and one is in Cape Canaveral which is Playalinda beach.

    We really focus on trying to catch Trophy Blacktips and March and April are probably the best time to get one Generally speaking, but we really like the summer time when the conditions allow you to wade out and get the shark rods in deeper water

    Question, why do you stand so far from shore? Is it because of the tide?

    We keep the rod holders away from the water to avoid splashing the reels while in the pipe, also to prevent the incoming water from loosening the sand around the pvc pipe. Thanks for Watching!!

    Are the fishing spots just somewhere you can park on the side of the road and walk straight to, or are they where you park in parking lot and walk out to it? Never been to this area.

    The Canaveral National Seashore parks in both NSB and Cape Canaveral in Titusville have parking lots with decks leading to the beach. They are separated by about 1-2 miles so if you hike down the beach from the deck 300yds-400yds there will be no one around,Thanks for Watching!!

    @@koreanfishingwife8766 Thats awesome. I always wondered where you all go for your videos, as there is hardly ever anyone around you. I love being at the beach fishing with no one around you. Thanks for the videos!

    The parking lots on the NSB side of the park are very small and fill up very fast during the summer time. The parking lots on the Titusville side are much bigger which allows many more people on the beach.

    @@koreanfishingwife8766 Hey, I'm really trying to get on that pompano bite, so would this area be good for pompano if you fish there at the right time of the year? Looking like April and May are the better times in the spring, does this sound about right? Thanks again!

    March and April are usually good months for Pompano on the East Coast of Florida, But you can catch them basically year round.

    We used to bring fish home to eat but that was a long time ago. We pack very light and our surf trips our usually 7-8 hours long and sometimes longer. We are to tired to mess with cleaning and cooking fish! Thanks for Watching!!

    She uses the 8ft Tica (TC2) 10-25 lb 3/4- 3oz most of the time and we use a 9ft Tica (TC2) 12-30lb 2-6oz as a cutbait/bluefish rod, We also use a 11ft Tica (TC2) that has been modified to 10’5” by cutting 7 inches off the butt it is used as a SHARK ROD and is rated 17-40lb 3-8oz and is a VERY powerful rod. Thanks for the question and Thanks for watching!!

    Thanks! Do you ever catch sharks in winter?

  • @koreanfishingwife8766

    @koreanfishingwife8766

    Yes, You can catch the sharks in the surf year round on the east coast of Florida. During the winter it is much harder to have conditions that allow you to fish for the sharks because of the high winds and big-rough surf. Also even though it really doesn’t get that cold in central Florida, If you are at the beach and it is 65 degrees with 10mph winds and you are getting your legs and feet wet you will Freeze Your Ass off!!
