Surama Ghatak speaks about her husband Ritwik Ghatak reminiscing the old days.
She says, "Father used to stay with me sometimes and whenever the very much difficult condition I used to send a telegram to my brother and he came at once, two or three times he was admitted in the hospital. With a long time, he discussed with him, try to understand his problem, discussed with him but at last, he could not and we tried our best, we admitted him in the hospital, we became very much sympathetic to him but we couldn't.".She goes on to say," His hobby was to read and he said it is my religion to read and 21 years of married life he collected many books, many records and he used to read about from 12 to 1 or 2 'o clock. He was reading and reading."
Surama Ghatak was the wife of the famous Bengali filmmaker and scriptwriter Rithwik Ghatak. Ritwik Ghatak was born on November 4, 1925, in Dacca, Bengal Presidency, British India as Ritwik Kumar Ghatak. He was a director and writer, known for The Cloud-Capped Star (1960), Madhumati (1958) and Jukti Takka Arr Gappo (1974).
