Supplement Video For Putting the Lines Down - Laying Paper Circles (Asterisk)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

What’s good everyone for this episode we start the line lining process. It turned out much better than the paint job.
A special thanks to Andy, Jake, Jimmy, and the minor hockey dad. It took a better part of a day being short handled. Andy, the older gentleman, fell off a ladder a few days before and cracked a few bones. He was moving slow but was a big help. The minor hockey dad showed up out of nowhere to lead a hand.
We had a enough people to start a second crew but no one was confident enough to take the lead and lay a line down. Two people can lay one line but three person crew is ideal with paper.
Questions and comments are much appreciated.
Thank you for Watching!

Thank you! I appreciate you basically making this specifically to answer my question! I'm pretty nervous about installing the ice / painting in a few weeks!

Have you ever tried brightening up the lines with a hose? I’ve heard you spray all of your lines and painted surfaces with hot water and it burns out all the skate marks, you just can’t go too far or you’ll burn through the paint. Then let the ice setup and it should float any impurities to the surface that you can cut out. May work out for you and I’d love to see a video on it as I’ve never seen it done

Yes I have tried that once. It took too long to build the ice back up. We had deep wells all along the lines I did it too. It can be done but the rink has to be close for a day or so to do it. Atleast thats my experience doing it. Our ice was just put in so we will not have to worry about it for some time. I will do a vid in a few months to show the process and if it is really worth it versus shaving the entire sheet down and build back up again.

Your Local Ice Man we use a long board with a wheel at one end and the thing another wheel would go on. We put the paper in the place where the other wheel should be. The board has a big steel cycler piece in the middle with a point in the middle of it. Put the steel in the centre and just spin it around. It dose require three people though. One hold the centre one pulling the board around and one with a roller. Every circle done in about half hour.

@@swallowlsd Thanks. Appreciate the feedback. I think if we took our ice more than once very 5 years we would figure out something better by now. Totally back breaking. I have seen rollers on a stick with a cable and such. Many better ways to do it I am sure. Gonna tell the boss next time we need to get one. You are right, we would save sooo much time.

Your Local Ice Man no problem work smarter not harder lol. We do scribe the creases and the refs half circle, but they're painted on. The rink I work at is only open for six month, so we put new ice in every year.
