I can’t believe she was only 20 in this interview. Just a baby but so poised, well spoken, and mature. She was so sooo inspiring then. She was really talented.

I love how beautiful, diverse and Glamorous they were back then!

I feel like all the 90's early 2000's models truly deserved to be a model. Such a prominent and glamorous face. A very relevant face too

Not only she had(has) the looks , she knows exactly what she is talking( I mean she is very intelligent woman). Much Respect.

Yasmeen had it all. Class, super great catwalk style (seems like she must have taken dance lessons before - graceful, great control of her body and legs), beautiful all in all, charismatic on the floor and great spin style; her head and eyes just knew how to move, where to look. - Naomi was on the same level, same qualities.

I like how she admits its also about timing and not all about beauty. She seems vey humble.

I always wondered what happened to this lovely lady. She was a real trailblazer for ethnic exotica on the runways around the world. No one else had the ability to "vamp" an outfit with a signature strut like Yasmeen had. Alas, the modeling industry is no longer her world, and I wish her much success as a wife and mother.

Today beauty standards are so low, anyone with enough plastic surgery, fillers and botox is considered good to go. No elegance, no natural beauty. She's definitely exotic and beautiful, the Indian beauty is what really shines through.

I remember Yasmeen Ghauri. Her, Karen Mulder, Tatiana Patitz, Rachel Williams, all had that really special look about them. They were not commercial enough to compete with Cindy Crawford or Naomi Campbell but they were bonafide supermodels.

Young adults were so much more mature back then, she speaks well without like every other word and a monotone voice that makes people sound fake

During this time there were so many beautiful women. Yasmeen was by far the most intoxicating to watch. When you look up the word beautiful in the dictionary her picture should be next to it.

She's the best walk runway model in this planet, no any model ever close how she walk. Every dress she wearing in the runaway, she own it. She know how to carry every each designer how diffrents she walk.

She is fabulously down to earth.

What you are saying is that India never existed before its independence. Well all the regions in South Asia areas where Britishers ruled through East India Company, it was a part of India including lands of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Its just that India got its independence in the form of division in three parts. You lol'd in your comments saying that India did not exist before even Pakistan. You are right that there was no fixed boundaries earlier for nations. But there was an existence. There was no Pakistan earlier but India was always here through its name. Her mother was born in Germany. Yasmeen is was Canadian who was born and grew up in Montreal. She is now an American citizen and lives in New York. She's of German and Pakistani ancestry but that doesn't make her anymore of a German than my German ancestor does.

What beautiful models we had in the 90's!

Yasmeen stayed true to herself and decided to leave modelling, started a family and stay low. If she followed other supermodels, who dated movie stars, billionaires, rock stars, and few scandals here and there, she definitely would be the top of the top.

Wow, she speaks so great and wise. Love it. I didnt like her when i saw her at the catwalk (kind of arrogant or too confident) but now i see she has so many insecurities and is still able to look confident. She has a beautyfull soul

First of all she ain't Indian, she's half German and half Pakistani. She hides her fathers side who is a famous Pakistani Imam in Montrea because he was religious he told her to leave the business as it against Islam. When we were kids I used to see her at gatherings in pls homes and she was shy and would keep to herself and not play with the other kids. She left because she and her parents didn't get along. She would send cheques to her dad but he would send them back. Yasmeen was extremely popular on fashion shows and would always be in every top show on tv and people in the community saw that and would make comments t.o the parents especially when yasmeen began posing for Victoria's Secret. Yasmeens father was very upset but couldn't do anything. I have noticed that German mixed with south Asian, or Arabs turn out to be gorgeous just look at Gigi Hadid and Bella hadid.

One of the most bizarre things/interviews I've heard! At 0.58 she says, "I always thought I was white...." I had a Pakistani friend/neighbour in the 90s who held Yasmeen as a personal role model and one for the Asian community. That's because Yasmeen CLEARLY looks Asian! You wouldn't even think she has a white parent, much like Zayn Malik. Having a white parent doesn't make you white and most people identify more with their aesthetic, not always the heritage. I just find this so strange!
