SUPERMAN 1978 Facts You Didn't Know!
Фильм және анимация
Fun fact alert for all the Superman fans out there! In the 1978 film, Marlon Brando, who played Jor-El, the father of Superman, had a unique method of memorizing his lines. During the scene where he's supposed to be putting baby Kal-El into an escape pod. Instead of learning his lines like a regular actor, Marlon went all out and read his lines from the diaper of the baby! Brando told director Richard Donner that he wanted to record the first time he read the lines, to keep his performance fresh and avoid over-rehearsing. That's one way to make sure your performance is full of... surprises. #shorts #superman #didyouknow #moviefacts #moviedetails #supermanlegacy

He didn't care about being an actor or learn his lines, no passion, even Chris Reeve said he didn't care, just came, did a bit and left, nothing good about that.

He didn't have a "unique method of memorizing his lines". He didn't bother to learn his lines. He did this on a lot of his later work.
He gave the director an offer he couldn't refuse.
Why is everyone downing Brando? He was a legend. He read cue cards so he would sound genuine. As if he was saying the lines for the first time... and he was. Pretty smart if you ask me.

Your kidding yourself if you think this was done to add to the performance, it just stinks of laziness and if anything takes away from his performance because there isnt any time to perfect the lines or performance
He didn't read his lines off the baby's diaper. He placed a card NEXT to the baby with his lines on it. He used this method many times in many films. Even Richard Donner said so in the DVD documentary track.
I believe they call that the Brando effect

I will make General Zod an offer he can’t refuse..
Is that why he says “kryptun” instead of “krypton”
It wasn't only this film but nearly all his films after 1970.
"That man is bereft of passion...and imagination!!" - Picard
Even cheating on an exam requires more effort than this
You can say he’s lazy but without him the studio wouldn’t have ever made this movie.
So nevermind that Marlon was going through a lot of stress and anxiety at the time. Depression is a monster.
Fun fact: He was paid $4 million for an 8-12 minute cameo.

Google told me that's 19.7 million in today's money.
Apparently, he did this a lot in almost every movie he was in from the 70's up. Made 3 million for his superman scene. Some thought he was lazy others a Genius, He made a good living and did it honestly with people still happy at his performance. What do you think he is?
If you look closely, you can also spot Brando’s wrist watch when he’s putting Kal-El into the spaceship.

Still today the Krypton sequence is awesome. Greetings from Brasil
Probably just thinking about that delivery of five hundred Big Macs to his island that was on its way 😂
Brando wasn't a regular actor.
the first superman movie was good!❤❤❤
OMG!!!! Yo vi esta película en 1981 aprox tenía 4 años ❤❤❤ , después de más grande la volví a ver, pero forma parte de mí niñez.
From the diaper of the baby?, What......?
Brando was ultra genious
This is not true Marlon Brando NEVER remembered his lines they were always written on people on boxes or anywhere he happens to be. So this wasn't a director's genius it was a necessity for Marlon...
There are many actors who DO memorize and rehearse their lines but still manage to suck. If a movie with Brando in it was good it was likely because of everyone involved, not just him.
I guess I should've used the Marlon Brando method.😊
Unrehearsed and unmemorized. What a professional 🥹
I loved this movie, when I was a kid.
Brando was so talented that he was able to bend the rules and still succeed on a massive level.
Did the same thing in the Godfather...co-stars wore giant cue cards during takes.
Say what you want but Brandos casting had pulling power . It got the studio to invest some of it's own money to give Director Donner more time to perfect the movie .
Human Rights And Dignity Oh Yeah.
Or he was just being lazy and they helped him out in a way. Regardless it was a phenomenal finish.
So he didn’t want to learn his lines 😂😂
Yeah... the more I learn about Brando, the less i respect him.
Who should I say sent me, tell them"I AM" sent you
Marlin Brando wasn't playing Jor-El. Marlin Brando was playing Marlin Brando dressed as Jor-El.
Brando's "brand" became waaay overblown by the rest of Hollywood, until they worshiped him like some kind of god.
Reading your lines instead of memorizing them isn’t going all out lol it’s just laziness. Saying it’s so the lines would be fresh and not “over rehearsed” is just an excuse he made up lol

Marlon really went/turned from Jor-El to his character from The Godfather (Wait, that wasn't what it was, he didn't care about being an actor, you could see the actor looking down like if his lines were written on the baby's diaper)
Laziest. Actor. Ever. I'm shocked that he didn't try to read all his lines from behind the wheel of his car.
that's not how you say that name cause that's my brother's name and hes saying it wrong
