Superlight Gear Camping: Tent, Mat & Bag under 1.5kg. Neoair Uberlight FAIL + Cooking Fajitas
Trying a superlight tent, sleeping mat & bag - but the mat broke as soon as I lay on it. I really like the bag though! Hoping to try it on a multi-night trip soon if the weather warms up a bit 🙏

I love the built-in pillow-supplying feature that kicks in with the new sleeping mat. So brilliant how it appears upon first lie-down.
Your ability to remain upbeat, whatever happens, is delightful.
If you go to a car accessory shop and buy a small aerosol can of "Plus Gas" and squirt it in the joints of your trecking poles this will release them. It is specially for seized joints and rusty nuts etc. It is different from WD40 which is a water displacement product..hence its name ! The fajitas made me salivate... a few jalapeños to top off would have been a bonus ! Another fab vid.
"Feels really floooofy" so cute 🥰
I watch every one of your vids and it still makes me giggle when you jump up and pop off at the end 😃.

Always look forward to your videos, Claire. Great filming and editing, and the reviews are really helpful.
You brought a smile to my face , in the garden in Scotland, smell the barbecues, but miss the camping ,,.
Always keep all your gear inside your shelter. Boots especially! In my case as a service person it's a necessity but in your case it will prevent you putting on wet or damp boots in the morning. I'd put my boots in a bag and inside my sleeping bag so I didn't have to put cold footwear on in the morning. That is bad for morale when you get up and have to put cold boots on.
Great job getting the shot of the dear!
Nice little summer tent..does the job..got me excited about my trip and adventures in two weeks time.
You always bring the best foods with you!
Absolutely love watching you! You have definitely pushed me to go light camping in Snowdonia! Please keep up these videos! Totally make my day! 🥰

I love your spirit. I love how you love the little things . I live in Kentucky USA and we have Great camping too.
My summer weight sleeping bag came in handy recently. Was out stargazing and the temp dropped down in the 50s F. I got in the sleeping bag while laying in a lawn chair and was suddenly in my own little comfort bubble surrounded by the woods and the stars.
I remember on the Homemade Wanderlust channel Dixie tried the Uberlite right after they first came out 4 years ago or so and hers and her mom's both broke the first night.

High Claire. Been watching for a while but first time commenting. I use a sheet of thin insulation under my mat. It's foam lined foil both sides. Folds or rolls up. It's brilliant I can lay on that alone and not feel ground chill. Enjoy what you do ❤
I was just rewatching one of your old bushcraft videos and loved it. It would be cool to see something like thst agein 😊 looks like hard work but s lot of fun too ❤

Great vid. Yes, heard the mat fracturing from here! Just pleased you are ok. You make it look so easy but I did this for months as a kid, I know the problems. Well done.
Thanks so much! I was going to buy Thermarest Uberlite, and now I don't have to. Thanks again for your real world experience, always so useful!
Had the same problem with their thickest mat...this doesn't surprise me at all Claire. Glad you're hilighting the matter
Thanks for another great video Claire.
The Sea to Summit Spark bags are great lightweight bags, I use the Spark 3 all year round and just double bag it up in winter with my summer bag when the temperature heads down below zero.
Being able to cook at your campsite and not having to worry about bears poppin by to knick your food must be nice!

Good day my friend. Your video is very good, Thanks for helping me relax after a tiring day at work.
Good stuff. An honest review too. I have a NeoAir light I have so far fixed 4 punctures in 7 trips with it. When it works though I can sleep for a full 12 hours comfortably.
For more head/internal space I use a stick equal length as the height of the guy line anchors on my tent so when i tighten the guy line its propped up & pulls level & pulls tent outward not downward

Great vid! It's good to hear about the sleeping bag......I've not used any Sea to Summit gear either, so bit of an eye-opener.
Thanks for this. I'll be doing my first ever Summer hike in a week (Berwyns) and I'm a bit wary of going light. So I'll be taking an emergency bivvy to use as a vapour barrier just in case the temperature drops unexpectedly!
My wife and I have 5 acres of land in the Manx countryside which includes an acre of woodland. You are welcome to wildcamp there if you fancy a budget trip to the Isle of Man.
Thank you wild one!

Yes, and they are best if you warm the tortillas a bit just before you add the food. Heating any bread product softens them by making trapped water come out of the material. This makes them roll a lot easier.

Have a floofy weekend! Happy camping :)
Hello and my thanks for your bright tip´s and outlook on camping. I´m old now, yet it´s only when your old that you find idea´s of drifting so appealing. At least I thought of all those times when I have driven further than I expected or maybe it comes down to those thoughts of solitude that are appealing? It´s taken a few years to calm down enough to even entertain the idea not feeling guilt from my now selfish lifestyle. I now live in Sweden, so am more Swedish. Yet have had only stress in my life so far. Your thoughts of letting go and being able to moderate a practical packing, were inspiring. I´m interested in both the idea of scooting off with just enough to make it all seem easier. So I will follow your steps for a while and see if you are a kindred spirit after all. Thank you for both your wisdom and cooking tips. So much seasoning, no wonder weight was an issue! Ha ha Keep warm
Great video thank you for sharing 😊
Worn out or beat-up Thermarest camping mats work great as padding when you move.
I Like the exped Mats with.5 years guarantie.have the Red one with integrated pump for seakajaking or cycling the yellow one for hiking
Hi, followed a link from a friend her. Very interesting video, thanks very much. Kit is SO much lighter and more efficient than when I used to go out and about. Loved the morning clip with the Deer.
Another nice camping video Claire.
Sea to summit bags are great, mine always keeps me warm 😊

The lovely lady of the woods and hills . Such great viewing always. Magical Claire jumps out of shot at the end ,, where does she go 😀
Hullo Clairebear ! Thanks for sharing glad to see you are well..... I just sat out on my deck watching a nearby thunder storm for the last hour warm out with a nice breeze and an amazing lightshow, put me in a better place....and btw now I am dying for a Fajita! 🤓
I guess taking a thick fleece with you would extend the temperature range of the sleeping bag and wear it in the evening outside if it gets unexpectedly cool. Its not always possible to perfectly predict weather and there is always a chance of a sudden cold front passing over at altitude.
Hii ... hiking light and simple is a lot of fun 😀
The sleeping bag seems good 😊 so tiny packed up
@WildBeare

Yes so tiny isn't it 😍 smallest I've encountered, excited to use it on a longer trip :D
Hi Claire, a simple trick if you forget your support or pole and cannot find a stick, is tie a ridgeline above and tie the apex guy to the ridgeline direct then tie a second line to the guy to tension it by pulling to the tree nearest the entrance, or use a light karabiner on the main ridge line, tie the apex guy to the karabiner, set the tension by tying another line to the karabiner and pulling towards the tree nearest to the entrance and tying it off. There are other methods but i do not want to bore you or others. Love your videos and work. Take special care, safe trails, tight lines.
I own 4 lanshans so I love these tents... I do have a Uberlite but don't like it and well..never used the bag but looks like a great one.
Thank you for what appears to be a genuine unbiased the gear review =D
nice review. A Korean camper did a review of her gear and how it has changed in the last 2 years. Both of you were very honest and that is what people need, not paid endorsements
I learnt. As long as it works, it's ok if its alittle thin
I’ve got a yellow Neo-Air thats about 8-10 years old right when the came out with it and I had one pin hole in the seam that I fixed with super glue and it’s worked fine ever since. I love mine because it’s small enough it can fit in a Nalgene bottle.
Camping light freeze at night. You should comsider taking a liner silk/fleece, in case it does get cold to give you that extra protection and increase the warmth range of the sleeping bag. Think of it like layers.
@arthurrsaker8893
9 ай бұрын
There's no doubt a liner helps when used like that, but it helps even more if the sleeping bag is inside the liner, the reasons being that it provides an extra barrier between the lofted insulation of the sleeping bag and the cold night air, which is trying to un-loft it especially if it's only a budget stitch through system bag which loses too much warmth through all those seams, and not a box walled quilted one. If you can obtain a larger size liner it works best as it won't compress the insulation. If it's too snug it won't loft so well . Liners can be a nightmare for restless sleepers when they get a bit tangled so eliminating that uncomfortable nuisance is a bonus too. It's counter intuitive to use it this way and of course its no longer a liner, but it is a useful way of getting the most warmth you can from any lightweight sleeping bag, especially if it's only a stitch through job. A bivvy bag can usefully obtain the same outcome. So that's another reason to carry one, To sum up its more comfortable and a good bit warmer, and I,ll trade the, hygiene benefit, for a warm n comfortable night's sleep any time. Good sleep is the foundation of a good trail day.
@Garryck-1

Merci Claire, it’s so helpful to have real life testing and results of camping gear. And the big bonus is to see this gear tested in such lovely locations. You continually inspire me to reconnect with nature and the beauty of this planet. Merci beaucoup
Great save using the stick when the trekking pole failed on you!
Nice video. Maybe you can explain the fascination with the Lanshan tents. A lot of people seem to use them, but the problem with rain is often pointed out. It beats me why you would want a tent that has problem with rain. When it comes to the sleeping bag, I have several of the Sea 2 Summit bags. I'm also a very cold sleeper and they make a good job of keeping me warm. Last year I did however try to sleep with just a down puffy blanket and found that to be even more comfortable. To my surprise it did a better job of keeping med warm than the Sea 2 Summit bags. The blanket I have is a Easthills Outdoors 1 Person Down Puffy Blanket 137x203cm, 650 fill power, 500g. It will keep me warm down to around 5C when paired with a mat with a good R value. I'm guessing it's because I move around a lot in my sleep as well. 🙂 Something for you to try? Keep up the good work with the vids!
The best pitch(tautest) of the lanshan youve done... and it was with a stick!!!!!!!!! , nice one! ATB

Great vid. Honest too. I like that. Thanks. 😊
At home, I regularly use an air mattress for sleeping, and it has the same problem. Under stress, the internal dividers separate, rupturing the outer shell and puncturing it (I've got good at repairing it). If you notice, yours split internally under the pressure of your elbows (mine does this, too). If you can manage to get on and off it without using your elbows, or pressing hard with your hands, it might just hold up. Easier said than done though, and so easy to forget.
Congratulations on the 200k subs. Awesome achievement 🏆
Thanks 🤗🙏👌🌳
