When aligned as one, the door of the safety gate will be formed. Two plastic snap connectors are included to hold both sections of this metal child safety gate together. Lock them into place at the preferred extended length to tightly secure the gate panels and you will have easy adjustability for future use. Should you choose to change the location of the metal baby gate, the snap connectors can be removed and the two metal panels can be easily adjusted to the new width. Once the four plastic mounts are on the wall or banister, slide the catch bolts into the plastic catch brackets until they click in to their allotted mounting bracket. Swing direction control allows the gate to be opened inward only, outward only or both directions, for safety reasons gates must never open over stairs. Designed for one-handed operation, the secure lock with a push-button release, allows you to open the gate while holding your child. The Do It Yourself installation makes for simple and quick results for babyproofing your home. All screws and mounting components necessary for assembly are included. Our walk thru baby gate complies with safety standards: ASTM F1004 & EN1930.

At 2:11 shouldn't the spring and the plastic tube be below the hinge bolt? The way shown in the video makes the gate harder rather than easier to open?
Good.
The hinges on this unit are a very poor fit, making it hard to lift for opening and closing. They also seem very flimsy - I've read reviews elsewhere of people complaining of them breaking after a couple of months.
The hinges do not lift smoothly. The metal donuts scrape on the plastic hinge axle. Pity could be a good design with some minor improvements.

for the money you pay, plastic is flimsy and brittle , easy to crack and hollow, would expect a metal brace for this money, all you really pay for is some powder coated bars and screws
