Superior Late Ripening Fig Varieties

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, Ross, known as the Fig Boss, introduces the late-ripening fig variety "De La Roca," highlighting its resistance to rain and quick ripening. He discusses several other late-ripening fig varieties, emphasizing their ability to produce high-quality fruit well into the fall, and offers recommendations for extending the fig season.
A companion guide to this video can be found on the Fig Boss blog. Check it out here: www.figboss.com/post/varietie... - "Let's consider how good the fig tastes even when it's not picked perfectly. Truthfully, I love to let my figs hang longer on the tree to fully develop their flavor and even dry on the tree to concentrate the flavor and sugars further.
I will argue that a lot of figs don't taste very good unless you let them fully develop and intensify. This is exactly why we grow them at home. Fresh figs that you can regularly buy at grocery stores are always insipid. They taste like cardboard. Why? They’re picked at only 50-60% ripeness."

Hello, I updated everyone on the figs about 3 weeks ago: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2yhztGJqrSelrg.htmlsi=WSyAJJVUTC7et1Kz - There's not a whole lot going on yet. The figs are protected and our winter low was only 14F. Soon I will be uncovering everything and assessing any additional damage.

You have quite a variety of figs with so many exotic names. As a beginning fig grower I am hoping to catch the fig bug but cannot imagine collecting anywhere near the number of varieties you have. But who knows? With superb videos about figs like what you offer, I hope I can keep up my interest in getting more fig varieties that will thrive here in east central Tenn. Thanks Fig Boss for another insightful video!

As someone new to the world of figs, don't get overwhelmed by all of the varieties. There are some standard and easy to find figs that are really hard to beat in TN like Smith or Celeste. From there you can choose other varieties with different flavor profiles and ripening windows.
