The way she explained why people love Idris was spot on. He is distinguished but never smug or pretentious. He can play the king and he can play the every man. Its impossible to dislike him
Drew was the soul of this episode. Her last remark really hit me. You strive to be perfect and please your loved ones. But learning to love and forgive yourself is the hardest thing to do.

Open Letter to Maverick Carter and Lebron James….. The show is an amazing show! This episode was the dopest episode yet. That being said, forget the analytics about attention span, etc., make this show an hour long show. Drew Barrymore is so dope and her story is and has been the autobiography of child actors for years. And giving that question at the end and listening to her testimony was dope, but that episode should’ve and had to allow room for Kyrie, Idris and Paul to answer too!! Compelling, human tv that deserved an hour…. Blessed Regards, Roygfan.. 👊🏾✊🏾

Powerful and one of the best episodes to date. This episode shined a light on resiliency, identifying who you are, and even touched on mental health in some aspects. The most poignant point is when Drew stated she has learned to accept and forgive herself. That ending had me in tears. Kudos to Kyrie he is such a beautiful soul that is misunderstood by so many and just seeing his growth, transparency, vulnerability, taking accountability, and now knowing who he is as a man today is quite a testament and should never go unnoticed.

At age 44, I've been a Drew Barrymore fan ever since E.T. and in all these years, because of her resilience, after learning her story, I never forgot about how her parents were towards her and me, going through my very own trials and tribulations, she was always inspiring. Thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. It completely flowed. The storytelling was so interesting. And it’s a huge yes for Idris for Bond. Without question. Drew articulated the reason why perfectly well... after watching this she even made me want to pull out my thesaurus! Her dialogue is fascinating how she puts words together. Love her. And I just love the way Kyrie described himself as an artist... the ball is just one of the tools he uses for his art. Beautifully spoken! This is by far, the best episode on The Shop. It made so much sense that Lebron was not on it IMO. His presence alone would have derailed the light shone on Kyrie's story and the other guests. The " I AM" talk that Kyrie brought up really hit me. I barely graduated high school, got arrested, went to construction, no college, but I told myself " I am going to become a firefighter". Took close to 10 years, but I realized that dream. The power of "I am" and really making it an obsession is what will drive you into the right channels to reach your ultimate goal. With that said, I wish you all success and a healthy, prosperous life.
This is beautiful. This is what bringing people together looks like. I’m a 39yo black male from inner city projects and Drew Barrymore is AMAZING. She’s so engaging and she wants to learn. And she wants Idris lol. This episode was special.

Great convo! I simply love this show. Every episode is enlightening. However, I think there is no learning more liberating than learning from failure/loss. Just staying focused on the process definitely leads to excellence. But there is something about experiencing failure that opens us up more to reflect, apply, and build resilience.
Amazing episode, loved getting to hear Drew open up so much. I would love to see her on All The Smoke with a longer episode getting to have more of a deep dive on her experiences on how she overcame her childhood experiences and how she has learned to start forgiving herself.

@@philbosh03 kyrie wanted out from day 1 when he heard rumblings bron was coming back. He didn’t want it. Kyrie has always wanted to be the alpha. Kyrie just needs to realize his basketball talent is alpha level with any of the top players in the league. The other intangibles such as leadership in a team first environment where talent isn’t the most valuable asset. Why his failures in Brooklyn(still up for debate), Boston, have come full circle due to his inability to realize he’s a better co-star then head honcho of a team. Kyrie won’t sacrifice his wants for the better of the team and basketball isn’t the most important value to kyrie at least in the past couple years. I think he has a new outlook and will improve this year due to the odds being stacked against him and realizing teams won’t mortgage the farm for individual talent anymore. Wow this episode of The Shop was the best one ever… didn’t want it to end… so many emotions in all levels
I rarely finish full episodes but this one pulled me in. Fantastic group and discussion 🙌🏾
This show is absolutely tops! It makes for the most interesting conversations. Spotlights a very diverse range of celebs/guests simultaneously from all different walks of life. Mav moderates these conversations so effortlessly; the transitions from topic to topic are seamless. And no man is ever left behind - all of the guests do well passing and sharing the ball. *Pun intended* I say this to say --- thank you for this!
This episode is special. Drew brought this to another level
Prolly my favorite episode just because of all the interaction with one another and just the constant flow of conversation. Great episode!
