@@gauravgummaraju In the Silver Age, Lois was always saying that it was weird that you could never see Clark Kent and Superman together (impossible as he is Superman). The joke is that you never see Clark and The Flash together so Lois suspects that Clark is The Flash.

RIP Gilda Radner, Margot Kidder, and John Belushi (not to be confused with his brother, Jim Belushi, who is still very much alive). John died of a drug overdose, age 33. Radner died of cancer, age 42, and Kidder died at the age of 69. Her death was ruled a suicide.

Two things I liked about this skit: 1) The professional looking Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and The Thing costumes, most likely on loan from Marvel HQ. 2) The way that the writers stuck close with the source material, right down to Ant-Man. Also, if you what you say was true about Garrett Morris' cameo in the Ant-Man movie is true, I'm going to have to go back an re-watch that.

Too bad Chevy was only a cast member for the first year and change. Always found him hilarious. There's a reason he was the first breakout star of SNL. Unfortunately, noone else liked him because he was a writer for National Lampoon's and didn't make his bones with sketch troops like the rest of them. They thought he was Lorne's pet. John Belushi particularly hated him because he petitioned for Bill for the spot. Bill replaced Chevy, but there was a major rift when Chevy was asked to host. Chevy didn't have animosity, but John, Bill and Danny hated him. By 1980 and Caddyshack, it was over, but 76-80 were tense.

Well, in Margot’s case I’m sure it was the professional actress in her. In Bill Murray’s case, the guy is such a master of deadpan comedy, he can keep a straight face while telling the funniest of jokes. 😂

They even have the classic “Voter Spidey” suit! More effort in this than modern SNL that just gets costumes from the nearest Party City

I agree! My friends were all in their early 20's (when we watched SNL). We were in bands, had parties, and did a lot of things. But on Saturday night, there was something special about sitting around the TV and watching MTM, Bob Newhart, and other Saturday night shows - then watching SNL! That is the funniest part of this skit, as it implies that Hulk's crap is truly toxic. Remember her asking, "Did something die in there!?" I've heard that a few times myself after I've come out of the bathroom. I can only imagine how much more putrid smelling it would be for Hulk. I like to imagine that if Superman ever has a case of "explosive diarrhea," that the toilet would get blasted to bits.

I personally like the 2005 film one better.

It was like a MAD magazine but in live acción!!!

Priceless. I love how SNL develops skits around their guest stars. Fantastic job with the whole original cast. Short but sweet. Good memories packed into a few minutes. I remember watching this show in the seventies with my buddies and thinking it would be gone soon as something truly unique, special and short lived. Who knew?

I'm pretty sure SNL has the skits in mind before they ask someone to host. Plus most hosts have something to plug. For this show it was probably the second Superman movie. There sure were a lot of Canadians on SNL. Lorne Michaels, his wife writer Rosie Shuster, Dan Aykroyd, Margot Kidder in this sketch. Even more Canucks on SCTV.

It's not the original cast. Chevy Chase was in the original cast . Bill Murray replaced Chevy Chase after Chase chose to leave the show . after. I will be 63 years old so I've been watching SNL since the show began in 1975.

As a kid that used to make a lot of costumes growing up, I always marveled at the accuracy of these costumes! The “Thing” costume was mind blowing!!, my hats off to the wardrobe people of SNL for pulling that off!

There’s so many different gags and jokes in this sketch it’s amazing. Old SNL was the best.

I wonder if the general audience knew so many comic book references (that weren't in cartoons or movies at the time)? Ant Man back in the day, did anyone know him (other than comic book readers)?

@@DocRunaway Well, this incarnation of Ant-Man (Scott Lang) was only at most a year old. And I highly doubt the character ever was mainstream. So the writers were definitely current with their Marvel reading.

@@DocRunaway At the time, Superman and The Hulk (had his own TV show) and maybe Spider-man were the only superheroes known to the mainstream audience (from this sketch). In fact, the only 2 other superheroes that people in this era would be familiar with would be Batman & Wonder Woman.

Who says Garrett Morris was playing the Scott Lang version of Ant-Man? I think his costume is the Hank Pym version. And Lana Lang was in the 1966 Superboy cartoons so she might be known to the general public. For the record, Erica Durance was the hottest Lois Lane ever!!!

I always wondered if Belushi ad-libbed that line. I get the impression that when he first said "Sorry, I didn't see you sitting there on the pot" he expected the audience to know he was talking about the Invisible Girl...but the audience didn't catch on, so he had to spell it out.

This was the crew!! John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain, Dan Akroyd, Garret Morris, Chevy Chase, Loraine Newman, The Best!!

Belushi was really amazing. The last time I saw this was 41 years ago and I immediately remembered the handshake joke like it was yesterday.

Would have been great if they could have had a surprise appearance by Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent - imagine the roar if he walked in!.

Smallville had a chance to do some really epic episodes with Christopher Reeves, and instead they just messed it up by only giving a few minutes of screen time and barely anything useful to the show.

Grew up with superman films.Hadn't seen this before.Wow.Was lovely. Seeing Margot kidder. sad she is gone, christopher reeve too.John Belushi also. Reminded me of Stars that are no longer with us.... I Will always remember 'Lois Lane' as 'Margot kidder'. She was absolutely Wonderful. She was 'Super' in films. None could replace her... Rip to those now gone.

I remember watching this skit back when it first aired. It's still funny 40 years later.

This is either the craziest "Crossover" or "What If" scenario ever.

I was half expecting Superman to return with the ice when Clark was talking to Lois and The Flash to be nowhere in sight.

"I just had some..." "Kryptonite!!! Oohhh let go, let go, let go"! This cast was brilliant. Everybody involved sell'n out this ridiculous premise, like "Get Smart" or "The Munsters". I only saw this the night it aired. I may have seen it twice, but it was so memorable. I thought it was hilarious. I had that same reaction when I first heard they were making an Ant Man movie. Thought it wouldn't work, but I digress... this was/is funny.

Did anyone notice the flash got nailed in the head with an ice cube??🤣🤣

I remembered when this first aired. Laughing my ass off still---many moons later. CLASSIC!
