One thing I didn't like about the Fantastic Four Rise of The Silver Surfer movie is the part where his powers come from his board that he rides on, the board is just an extension of his powers, the Power Cosmic comes from within his body, the board is not the source of his powers. If you recall the Marvel Comic books that The Silver Surfer has appeared in.

Yes, he's the strongest Marvel hero of all, yet no one ever says he's "over powered." I love it, because the Marvel "fan base" accept & respect their characters with immense god-like powers. They don't say silly nonsense like, "Iron-Man is better than Silver Surfer because Silver Surfer is a god & Iron-Man is only a human with no powers." That's why I respect Marvel & their fan base.

JazzyZenBrotha I'd say that the main reason for Silver Surfer is not considered overpowered is because a) He's actually not all that well known outside people who read the comics or know more about him, and b) because he has a semblance of character to him unlike some of the more powerful heroes in the DC comics. For example, if we look at Superman, he doesn't really have anything interesting about hi; he is, as Batman puts it "a boy scout". He is too perfect to seem human or to be relatable. OF course, Marvel has a few of these characters, such as Captain America, but they aren't often super powerful like Superman is.

***** I agree that Silver Surfer is not well known outside of people who read comics. And that's because people "say" they read comics, but they really don't. But anyway, I disagree with you about Superman being "not interesting." He actually is interesting. I even tested this as a hypothesis. Some comic book nerds (usually Marvel fans) keep saying Superman is not interesting. So I used that as a hypothesis and tested it. I read a couple of his comics to see if he was boring and ended up reading a bunch of Superman comics. The result is that I found him to be interesting and relatable. And also, due to many situations, I found that's he's actually not perfect. I got hooked on the character and his stories. If he truly was boring then I would've put down the comic and never finished reading. This quest for testing this hypothesis for "Superman is not interesting" ended up opening my eyes to a good character and garnered my interest so much so that I ended up watching Superman's animated series, his animated movies and his live action films. And guess what? Again I found him interesting and relatable. I found him to be very human. In fact, as Batman said, "In many ways Clark is the MOST human of us all..." I've always been a casual superhero fan. I've never hated any particular character. I've simply liked all superheroes. But after testing the hypothesis for "Superman is not interesting," I was surprised that the character is actually interesting and relatable, and it brought me to the conclusion that if Superman was not interesting (as his detractors say) then (1) the character would never have lasted 75+ years in Comics, Film, Animation, and pop culture. (2) He would never have had even ONE live-action film made about him because the character would've never gotten popular.

JazzyZenBrotha A character being popular and a character being interesting are two different things. Bella and Edward in Twilight are horribly written characters, yet they are very popular. The problem with Superman is that he represents a superhero prototype. The whole concept of Superman is boring in itself, there's hardly anything that really makes him human. For example, Flash is an interesting character, not because of his powers, but because he acts human. He has negative emotions such as anger and sadness, and more importantly, he makes very human mistakes. I think that goes to the core of the whole thing; Superman's mistakes are rarely human. Although he does make mistakes, they alwats seem to happen at a higher level, as if he almost never has any negative thoughts. The whole idea of Superman makes for a boring character. And just to clear it up, I'm not a Marvel fanboy, my forte in comics is actually Donald Duck :P

Fox will probably be begging Marvel to buy the rights back after the horrendous movie they made. Plus, Marvel probably won't make a F4 due to how bad the recent one was. Also, they could give the Surfer a backstory in one of the Infinity War movies then introduce Galactus at the end of the movie to go into Phase 4.

Sure, he could do it a number of ways. Superman's weaknesses are Kryptonite and red sunlight. The Silver Surfer can produce any form of energy or matter at will. He could literally cloak his entire body in Kryptonite if he wanted to. The Surfer can also teleport to anywhere. He could grab Superman and teleport both of them right into the center of a red sun.

Well, The Silver Surfer can destroy planets with one blast from his hands, he has survived being hit with Supernovas (exploding stars) taking very little damage, he can travel faster than light, time travel, heal people, create black holes, and he once beat the Hulk in a matter of seconds by simply draining all of the Gamma Ray energy out of him and turning him back to Banner. The Surfer lives in a world of insanely powerful beings like Galactus and Thanos, so he has to be this powerful.

I read that comic. Prime is unintentionally evil. Well in his Own universe he's a good guy, point blank period. He's extremely misunderstood. Yes he did kill all of those innocent heroes and earth, but it was his way of getting back his home, family, and friends. If he known that doing that wouldn't bring back nothing, he'd only kill super-boy. But because he's good in his own universe, I said Superhero origins: super-boy prime.

in COIE prime destroyed that earth in a failed attemp to bring his world back. He kept destroying earths and heroes, in search of his planet. The kid was hella mentally unstable too. He wasn't even in the right mind. He wasn't a villain his whole life either. When he first realized he had powers, he was helping superman and other heroes. And even after his killing sprees, when he went back home, he regretted everything he done. He cried, the writers heard him, and they left him alone.

In his universe, undoubtedly, he was a hero and a good guy. In alt universes, he did all those bad things, in an attempt to re-gain his earth. His mom, dad, girlfriend, home. And took out heros in the way of that. That's all.

It doesn't matter what he "could've" done, or if he was glad to be wherever he is. Just because I killed only 100 people instead of 200 it doesn't make me a hero instead of a villain. He did kill people he really didnt have to kill, like all those other supermen and Sodam yat. BUT they was trying to kill him too. So did the JLA heroes and alt heroes. Many things here are actually out of whack. Silver Surfer did not bring the ultimate nullifier it was given to Reed Richards by The Watcher. Galactus never ate Zenn La, in fact Galactus after making silver surfer his herald promise to never harm Zenn La and he keeps his promise. Zenn La was destroyed by the alien entity called The Other, and Galactus actually brought the planet back to life after complete destruction in Silver Surfer Vol 3 130.

Silver surfer is hella overlooked. He destroyed earth after killing every member of the fantastic 4 in a comic book once

Yes he is, he's gone many time faster than light in travels, a popular one is Fantastic Four Volume 1 Issue 413 where he was stated to travel light-year in seconds. He has time traveled in SS V3 51, and SS v3131 by traveling faster than light,those are just two of many other instances. If i may, is there any particular reason why you asked me this?

Yes, he kept destroying heroes and planets around the multiverse, searching for his planet. He didn't have to destroy those planets and kill billions. Being mentally unstable does remove the title villain. Being a serial killer, killing many people, even if you regret it afterwards does not remove the title "murderer". Being a hero and saving some people for awhile, then murdering billions, does retain you the title "hero" Should Darth Vader be considered a hero or a villain?

If you murder billions and terrorize the entire multiverse, you will be known as a villain, like it or not. Still though, He's a multiversial villian, but in his own universe, he's a hero. That's a fact. We can both agree than if his universe was not devoured, he would have never done those evil things in the first place. Did he HAVE to? no, but would he do tha tin his own nature? no. He has more good, but shows bad more.

Dr Manhattan would probably destroy Silver Surfer only because his power's seem to have a lot more potential than the Silver Surfers.

The Radical Justice story would make a great film. In a nutshell, Surfer is trapped in a cosmic powerweb, the more he tries to use his power, the stronger the web traps him. The web is the doing of a nomad survivor colony of beings, led by Gamora, whose planets were destroyed by Galactus. They put Surfer on trial for leading Galactus to destroy their home worlds. He pleads that Galactus brainwashed him, and seems remorseful, but they still pronounce him guilty and sentence him to death. But Surfer is too powerful to kill, so they have created an omni that drains energy from a nearby star and weakens the Surfer until he returns to human form. Once they start using it, it doesn't work as they had calculated. It's only weakening him minimally, and may take much longer than they planned. Eventually they realize the star will be completely drained before it kills Surfer. It will turn into a black hole and swallow them. They frantically start to evacuate that star system, but it seems futile, they won't have enough time. Gamora realizes Surfer is the only one who can save them, after they tried to execute him. She releases him and pleads with him. He doesn't answer her and seems to leave them behind. As the star starts to collapse the Surfer repowers the star and saves it from exploding. Saving the lives of the nomads who tried to kill him.

A hero being out casted by humans yet still tries to save them. Sounds like superman from bvs to me.

The Other is an alien entity, from outside the entire Marvel Multiverse, an alien being who's power were on par with Galactus. Others and his minions were seen as a cosmic virus that sickens and can kill the main marvel universe (marvel refers to as 616 universe) The destruction of Zenn La and later resurrection is explained and clearly shown in Silver Surfer Volume 3 Issue 130.

The solo movie of him is happening finally but don't know when. I'm still working being an actor and if I might want to play him someday which means I'll be reading more of the comics like the one i got for my birthday the other day because he's a character I don't know about too much. I do that because he's been serving Galactus all he has to do is travel across the stars in space and can't ever return home. He's kinda a sad character to be.

He's not a villain either. He just bade alot of bad mistakes and people labeled him as a hero. In actuality, his heart at least, is good.

But if he was a TRUE villain, then why, when he went home, he was so glad to be there. I mean he could have just killed his parents, especially when his mom said she was scared of him, he could've killed her then. He could've killed his girlfriend, and blew up the planet. I don't think he had villain intentions. I do think he was just a lost soul that wanted to fight to get everything back. Somehow. His first kill, he even said he didnt mean to do that.

No, he doesn't really lose his powers when you take away his board. The Fantastic Four movie was an embarrassment to the original comic book character. They made up arbitrary rules just for the film. That would be the same as if in the new Man Of Steel movie they just randomly decided that Superman now loses his powers when you take away his cape.

Sorry, he made alot of mistakes, and people labeled him as a villian. He mistakenly killed all those heros, he only ment to kill Superboy, not all those other heros.
