hi friends, wanted to pop in (months later lol apologies) to share there's a difference between the "apricot kernel" mentioned in this video and the poisonous apricot kernel you find via a quick google search. I'm fully aware that KitchenHeroes is not the most credible source, but just wanted to give some context to possible mistranslation and misunderstanding about the two variations of northern and southern apricot kernels: www.kitchenheroes.com.sg/single-post/2018/03/04/The-Difference-between-North-%E5%8D%97%E6%9D%8F-and-South-almonds-%E5%8C%97%E6%9D%8F-Apricot-Kernels also worth mentioning that as with everything we see online, I feel it’s important we do our own research and consult our doctor(s) to ensure what we’re watching / hearing is aligned with what we is best for ourselves, our body, and our health as we all function and operate beautifully uniquely, person to person 🙏🏻

Hi Rowena, I like your posts but am having trouble finding ingredients. It looks like your comment here is from 3 months ago, but the link about apricot kernels already does not work. Can you just add to these comments what you wanted us to know about apricot kernels so we don't buy the wrong/ dangerous kind? It sounds like very important info! Thank you :) Also, your black sugar link goes to a package of candy. Surely not the same as plain sugar? And Thrive does not have apricot kernel or black sugar. Amazon has them at millionaire's prices, not affordable for regular people. Can you link to safe and affordable sources, please? 🤗💗

Wanted to say a HUGE 🙏🏼 thank you for this video! It’s change my life. I’ve never been able to stomach caffeine. I’d drink English Breakfast on the weekends and would crash hard, coffee was out of the question. The Matcha Latte is my everyday go to for a long lasting much needed energy boost(tired mommy). Btw, I’ve watched the video so many times my 2 yo 👧🏻 repeats “chasen” when she helps me make it. I die. I found the same apricot kernel powder you used after sending poor hubs to 4 different Asian markets during quarantine. It actually shrunk a tumor protruding from my forehead that an MRI showed as benign. While grateful for that. Still as a woman, I was self conscious. Surgery seemed too extreme to remove it. It does upset my stomach so I only use it sparingly. It gave me my face back and I truly enjoy the whole process of making it. It’s feels like something small I can do for myself everyday that’s so enjoyable. Truly this video has changed my life. Thank you my dear from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. ♥️

I don't know if other people would be interested, but if you're in the mood, some Chinese healthy/comfort food recipes ? Something like the soup your mother made in the "Nourish" episode, things we could try to make ourselves feel better ? I really miss the comfort food I used to get in the Chinese part of my family. Anyway, thank you for the video :)

I love this video and your channel so much, but just one thing I wanted to point out: apricot kernels/seeds as well as many other fruit pits/seeds contain amygdalin, which is a cyanogenic glycoside, basically meaning it converts to cyanide in your body. There are quantities of amygdalin that are safe to consume, but you should limit consumption considerably because cyanide is very toxic to humans and can cause a myriad of symptoms in high quantities, including coma and death. Apricot seeds are particularly high in amygdalin, so this means the safe dose of the ground apricot kernel shown here is much lower than in other fruit seeds that contain amygdalin. I'm not saying people shouldn't eat it, as long as you monitor your intake and stay below/at the recommended amount you should be fine, but I believe people should know this, as it's not common knowledge. I don't know anything about the specific powder you're using, or whether some of the properties are different from a raw seed, so I can't comment on that. I have absolutely nothing against you or this video, just thought education on this topic was important, as that powder is potentially lethal at high quantities.

Supplements ARE NOT regulated by the FDA, so they can literally put ANYTHING they want in them, and put ANY claim they want to on their packages. My dearest Rowena, You truly encourage me to thrive and to flourish into the best version of myself whilst simultaneously taking the time to take a step back, as to not get swept up in the flurry of life as our little prince once learned from the signalman, "people are never happy where they are". Where i am it's Friday night and i've had quite the week; i came home hoping to find a new upload from you and to my fortune you had uploaded just the video i'd been looking forward to for the longest time. I'm not the type to comment and i know you may not get to read this, however i want to thank you for all the ways you bring waves of calm to my soul, and introduce methods to maintain that calm in life's calamity since i first discovered your channel from what feels like eons ago. Your bubbly air and infectious smile had me captivated. Your outlook on life, resilient spirit, soft heart and sweet soul, brought more wisdom and joy into my life than i ever could've anticipated from that very first moment i clicked. I struck gold. Thank you. - also i have a book recc: The poetry of Zen (trans. by Sam Hamill & J.P Seaton) // it's one of my favourite poetry books, please do feel free to check it out! As much as i love your videos i love you more and so please do take care of yourself - in every sense of the word. We'll always understand if you need a break (even one that lasts forever). You come first. Always. I am soso proud of you! I wish you and your family all the best xx

You can find a lot of fancier ingredients for a discount at TJ Maxx/Marshalls (Coconut sugar, oils, teas, syrup, cinnamon) and check out Asian Markets or Amazon for the matcha. Plant based milk you can buy at Walmart or make your own. :)

Usually, good quality ingredients will cost more, but they'll also last longer. I never buy any tea from supermarkets, nor the ones in bags anymore, because, in the long run, I'll still pay the same amount of money for a lesser quality tea. I buy my teas and rooibos in a local tea shop, and it has changed my life. It's 10€ for a 100g container, but the tea lasts me for months (I also rotate them, so that helps). Just two teaspoons in my 1.5L teapot and I'm set. And let's not even talk about taste. ALthough I do agree that some of the ingredients she used were a bit too overkill for me. No need to add more than just the tea, a good sweetener, water and milk.

It is but think about this. They boost your immune system, you get less sick. Your skin looks better. So you can buy less beauty products or medecine! And they last a long time. I bought a huge bag of cinnamon (around a kilo) like a year and a half ago for less than ten dollars and I'm not even halfway through. Turmeric too. You can buy oat and make oatmilk for a few cents. Even sweeteners! We buy coconut sugar for almost nothing at Bulk Barn. I get my matcha from Amazon when there are discount. It's expensive at first but it lasts a while (and you can skip coffee if you drink that). I'm a mom of 2 and a college student. I know how expensive life can be but you choose where you invest your money and I don't buy drinks outside of the house and don't drink sodas or juices. In the end I think I break out even ☺

IMPORTANT: coconut oil is not a healthy fat. This is such a common myth, but as I am educated in chemistry, it has a LOT of saturated („bad“) fats and almost no unsaturated („good“) fats. If you really want healthy fats, go for olive oil or flaxseed oil (which is also great for digestion) or walnut oil. PLEASE DON‘T THINK COCONUT OIL IS HEALTHY! IT ISN‘T!
