Constant action vs. 10 second plays then 2 minutes of standing around. During the race, call the race. They can spend 30 minutes bench racing after the lcq instead of “science of sx” garbage

I would gladly pay an extra $10 per month for Peacock if they provided an option to mute the broadcasters' mics.

I think Stew is equally painful to listen to. He's trying too hard to create a false image. J7 is the kinda guy that would spend the day at the track serious and focused and might never smile even while watching, but because he's on screen, he's gotta sound happy, excited, upbeat, enthusiastic and smile. I think he'd do much better in full blown serious analysis mode. He sounds like an Olympic snowboarder showed up to visit and they want his impressions of the sport.

David Bailey was the very best at this. Everyone after him, year after year, just verifies that for me.

Hopper is going in the right direction, he still pushes and mostly deals with facts not opinions. He knows where the line is so ultimately going to be able to make more of a difference once he is more established.

If you watch replays of old races w/RC in the booth right after he retired it was so much better. He didn't try to act like an announcer, he was just saying a few words from his perspective as a racer that directly applied to JS and CR who he had raced for years. Love him but he's frustrating to hear in the booth, tries too hard imo.

On his podcast with villipoto, he does so much better and is actually very knowledgeable and easy to listen to. But then he opens his mouth on supercross, and it’s like he’s an announcer in the special Olympics.

His choice of words is terrible but his voice and delivery are even worse. Nothing personal he just doesn't have the skills to be in the booth.

Outdoors last year was atrocious! I think he is just uncomfortable in front of the camera way too much! Hence the stuttering, mixing up peoples first names and last names....

His insight is generic, plain and unoriginal. So over it.

The other weekend he called kitchen “Eli kitchen” 🤣 I had to rewind that race just to make sure I heard right. It’s insane how often he fucks names up. I could see maybe messing up a privateer who isn’t known but you can’t mess up the biggest names.

RC is the customer service guy who tells you whatever the hell comes to mind, regardless if it is correct, just to have something to say and they’ll never simply say “they don’t know” or simply be quiet when they don’t need to be heard

I think it’s important to have the greatest riders still involved in the broadcast, still the face of the sport so to speak. I hated it when Stewart just stopped racing and fell off the public stage completely. Villipoto and Dungey did the same thing. Having the all-time greats there every week brings an authenticity to the broadcast that a good speaker just can’t in my opinion. Ricky’s not a great speaker but the other broadcast members are and that’s good enough for me.

I watched arena cross a couple weeks back… Three announcers. Ping, another guy, and one gal down on the track…it was great and chill! SX could learn a lot from those broadcasts.

Carmichael totally sucks as an announcer. You are 100% correct.

I am pretty sensitive to some audible sounds that “trigger” me and I had to literally mute the 250 main because he was sucking on something the entire time. Glad that was pointed out.

The things you had to say about RC in the booth made me chuckle, too, Cooksey! I don't think Ricky's completely terrible, but just when I think he's getting better, he says something that puts him back to square one. It's the job RC does that makes me so pissed that Jeff Emig got clipped from the booth, because I FREAKING LOVED JEFF EMIG IN THE BOOTH!! I'm a little surprised though you left out David Bailey and Denny Stephenson for good TV analysts (just saying). I'd rather have someone out there like Emig or Bailey or Stephenson than Ricky any day of the week! Keep 'em coming, Cooksey!

I'm a friend of Ricky's you hit the nail on the head. He paid his dues in full to be the goat when Greg Albertyn just absolutely freight trained his head that was like getting knocked out by Mike Tyson 10 times in a month. Yeah, we have to agree. We NOTICE the bad commentary, so you aren't alone. Some people are just good at this, others are LIKE ME and can't do this. We just don't have that gift for rapid commentary, we forget names, we're looking in the wrong spots all the time, we're just not good at it. But WE KNOW IT. Yes, on Jeff Emig. He was awesome. He was GOOD at it, but had to work extra hard because of his stutter. Yeah, it's TIME for Ricky to stick to running a team or something else. Justin Brayton is a natural at it. And Adam C is going to be fantastic at it one day. He's got that natural gift.

I don't mind him really, it's mostly just back ground noise for me I barely listen to them. I focus on the racing, looking at times and positions to see who is moving up and down. I couldn't tell you a single thing he said after the race

James Stewart does an amazing job as a color announcer. He's so comfortable with himself and isn't afraid to share his personal point of view, which is great and sometimes pretty funny.

In my opinion what makes a good announcer in any specific sport is that he can point out instances of what the racer maybe thinking or why a racer responded a certain way in live time: because in Ricky's case has that experience. It's obvious that those attributes aren't important to Cooksie. Cooksie is just worried about how the words come out not necessarily the message.

I'm right there with you! I spend half of the broadcast yelling "shut up Ricky!" He's the worst commentator I can remember. I think Ralph Sheheen and Daniel Blair together would be the best! Love both of those guys' commentary. Anything but Ricky

Except he is objectively a bad broadcaster. We can like whoever we want but if they suck at their job we gotta be honest

I have more of an issue with Will, as soon as she begins speaking I mute it, she shrieks, and always begins with " I spoke to them earlier".....seriously, the girl needs to go back to the land down under and commentate a women's volleyball league.

It's not just Supercross. NBC is not the best when it comes to picking announcers.

Let's also not forget that in THIS sport, you can generally assume that concussions in this career are plentiful. So, expecting a champion level rider to also SPEAK like a quality commentator is probably asking a lot. It's one thing to physically react quickly to something, but having a thought and articulating it well is a skill most average people don't even possess.

1000% agree he is scared to say certain things, weege is all time the passion and knowledge he has is next level.

I know you dislike Ricky but he is the goat. We don’t want our hero’s to disappear so go easy please!
