Supercharging plastic bottle to Breakdown

In this experiment, we use a high voltage multiplier to supercharge a thick plastic bottle to the point where the charge can no longer be contained. The results are spectacular. The plastic of the bottle holds an incredible amount of charge towards the end of the experiment.

    you can bottle electricity? That's unbelievable! Best science channel ever. Now get some pink mercury and put it in a counter rotating device that goes 40,000rpms. You must be able to envision or see this stuff. I don't, but I can see the field lines of a magnet through a fero cell and I understand toroidal systems. You need a dual toroid, apparently. I thought one would work. Maybe it just rotates two equal masses of mercury in opposition, I don't know if the rings or bells are connected to cycle all the mercury through both sides. And don't forget your old buddy when you become a master of time and space.

    Great experiment! After the flash over, is the bottle positively charged, or negatively charged instead? How would you determine it?

    The outside of the bottle is negative. The inside of the bottle is positive. The net overall charge of the bottle with respect to earth ground is zero. The polarity could be determined by how it lights up a neon bulb. The negative terminal in a neon bulb containing two terminals would light up brighter than the positive terminal.
