Supercharged Boss 302 Mustang Custom
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This episode finds us back at Superformance in Irvine for something completely different than the Cobra's & GT40's there known for...this is an old school 1970 Boss 302 with a centrifugal supercharger and Boyd wheels. It has minor issues and needs a little tweaking but this is a seriously cool car.
Enjoy the ride...

Look at the heads, it's a Windsor engine now. Can't call it a Boss 302 anymore. If they had built up the original engine, or possibly created their own canted valve 302 I would be super impressed with this car. Don't think it's too easy to supercharge a Boss engine, have to change the piston's for a start. Much cheaper/easier to buy a crate engine which is why I am not impressed with this car. You are right about the paint though, it does look nice.
I absolutely dig this Mustang! And the black and gold combo love it👍
Totally beautiful Boss. And I’m loving hearing you go through the gears on that. Real muscle right there.

I gotta say, Shawn, this is one horse you rode hard and put away wet, that's the hardest I've seen you drive one of these cars, Impressive as can be! That Tremec transmission has got to be the whip! @@AutotopiaLA , I hear ya', Brother, I have two personalities, one when I'm driving someone else's car, and one when I'm driving my own. It's good to respect others properties, that says a lot about a person. Thank's again. BTW, I've got a car that one day I might do a video on but the way these keyboard experts gotta beat you up about the things that should and should not have been done, think I'll keep mine hidden, lol. Stay safe.
I love your videos man, you actually drive them and hard, I dig the expression on your face when you get on it, it’s all about the Smiles that your car gives you, I’m 72 and drive a 14 Fiesta ST on Stage Two with sticky Michelin tires, short shift kit 3 inch exhaust and cool Visual mods, it’s basically a street legal Go-Kart. I totally dig this car! We could all use a little tweak here and there, but the macho that this car brings just begs you to just drive it and sort out the few remaining details a little later on down the rode.

The Boss 302 was Ford's qualifier to get them into the TransAm series against the Camaro, Challenger, and the AMC Javelin. The HP numbers that were advertised didn't bear much resemblance to reality and were never given much credence. The factories were notorious for claiming XX amount of HP at 3,000 RPM in spite of the peak residing up around 5,500 or 6,000 RPM. It was supposed to placate the insurance companies of the day. We don't know what condition this car was in prior to the project starting. It may have been thoroughly trashed before it got the new crate motor and all the other work that was done to it. I would agree with the other commenters if the car was in fair to good condition initially, but we don't have that data...

Actually, the gold and black scheme was used by none other than racing legend Smokey Yunick on a 1969 Boss 302 in 1969 when the car was brand new from FoMoCo, a car that unfortunately was never campaigned. As the owner of a 1970 Boss 302 since 1974, I feel badly for the car that it retains little of its original pedigree. I agree with several of the posters -- a similar fastback/sportsroof would have been a better starting point.....
