Superbooth 2024: MyVolts Alchemist 200W Isolated USB Power Hub

Ғылым және технология

Caroline from MyVolts shows us one of a pair of Alchemist Power Distribution Hubs (launching on Kickstarter today), highlighting its progression from prototype to production.
The Silent Alchemist and smaller sibling the Alchemist are designed with musicians in mind - the Silent version we saw offers 5 five isolated outputs with up to 20 watts each, plus an additional output providing 100 watts, also capable of powering devices like a MacBook.
Kickstarter: bit.ly/myvolts-sb24
Alchemist can power various items, such as an Elektron Analog 4, Korg devices, and modular rigs from Intellijel, Pittsburgh and others with different voltage outputs through USB-C cables using the range of Step-Up tips including a new 15v converter.
The hubs can be powered by powerbanks an traditional power bricks, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of power sources. Caroline emphasized the hub's isolation feature, eliminating grounding issues common with other USB power supplies. There is also a non-isolated version available.
Additionally, Caroline showcased the evolution of their original Crazy Chain now featuring a polarity indicator and a robust design capable of handling up to 100 watts.
The Kickstarter launch for the Alchemist gives early bird backers the opportunity to receive a free basic Alchemist unit (non isolated).

Great product! I supported the ripcord on kickstarter years ago and i think i did the first video review of it too. I powered everything from a korg minilogue to a pump for an inflatable mattress at festivals! Word got around that i had pump and i must have inflated about 4 mattresses for people, and had more 95% power left in the power bank!

Caroline said the acid tent was her favourite. *please* someone tell her that the TS-303 pedals that were featured there use 12v centre positive PSUs. I’ve had one for over a decade and hardly used it because at the time the only ones you could find were crappy, noisy, flakey Maplin ones. The guy who made them seemed to be baffled I couldn’t find one in the UK and wasn’t much help. So spread the word!

We came back to that tent 5 times to refill on good music! Thank you! I saw that it was 12V when I was having a go of the pedal - I always snoop at power input, of course. I gave sample of the 12V to the other chap in the tent, with the Roland replicas, but not the pedal chap. I will reach out to him, thanks for reminding.

This is awesome. I just get concerned about things like this messing up my gear. I've seen people do DIY versions, to make gear portable. If these have been tested well, and they guarantee that they won't eventually ruin the gear you use with them, I would be a customer. In my opinion, this is better than internal batteries, that will eventually end up dead, and need replaced. It definitely beats tearing apart your equipment, to replace the battery.

I want one. Why has it taken until now for somebody to develop a powerboard for synths? Centre-negative pedal boards have been around for yonks. I love my Myvolts 5-way splitters/daisy-chainers for use with my Korg Volcas and Sonicware Livens. However, they do have ground loop issues without the addition of 3rd party isolators. So an isolated centre-positive powerboard would be superb.

Its a shame. I really like this companies products. Unfortunately due to their absolutely piss poor customer service, I won't ever be buying anything else from them. Specifically, I bought a product that didn't work and upon contacting them about it, they told me they were aware that was case and that they had updated the product to work correctly. They then proceeded to tell me that I should buy the new version of the product, since they got it to work. How bout just send one out to replace the one that you knew wasn't working, and keep a customer. It cost you couple dollars to make it and sell em all day for $40 bucks. Its the little things. That sounds like the product wasn't faulty, rather, you bought it without making sure it could do what you wanted it to do. They just happened to develop a later version that did do what you wanted. The first version wasn't faulty, you bought the wrong thing. That's on you, not them.
