    ya really captured my group of friends. we had more people but a couple were good at shittalking so we did a couple just found it funny but didnt some tried but sucked xd we didnt have the going to university drama but just that feeling of hanging out is the closest thing ive seen in a flick.

    Fun fact, this story is actually based off the real childhood of Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, which is why the characters are called Seth and Evan.

    I didn’t realize that until Seth had an interview with GQ At the time this movie came out, I’ve only seen Seth at 40 year old virgin, so I didn’t know who he was

    The scene toward the end when Seth is sleeping over at Evan's and they unroll the sleeping bags together always gets me. You can just tell that they've been best friends since they were little kids and have probably done dozens of sleepovers together.

    When I saw this in theatres, the period blood scene was hilarious because each person got the joke at a different time... one or two gasps and laughs eventually crescendos into the entire place dying in their seats

    Unfortunately it happens. When I was younger I always thought “haha no way no way me and my best friend are ever going to be apart. Best friends stay together forever.” and as we got older we had less and less time until one day we just.. stopped hanging out. Life got in the way and took us on different paths. But at least you will always have those fond memories to look back on.

    Funniest movie for me, shit never gets old. As someone who’s almost 28 friends splitting up and moving on without you really does suck, I wish I could go back to being in high school, Junior and senior year for me were glorious, just partying and hanging out with friends 100% of the time.

    One of my fav moments is when the cops admit they knew he wasn’t 25yrs old. They wanted to be high school boys again, and prove to themselves that they still had it in them to be fun

    This really is a perfect comedy. A wide range of great characters, great acting and directing, and a screenplay with a multitude of unexpected moments. And comedy comes from the unexpected.

    Imo also that it also has emotion for example the ending scene and the scene where the cops tell that they knew all along. So that it has absolutely amazing comedy it also has something else to offer shows this movies depth.

    I saw this in the theatre 11 times. I loved it so much. Looking back I see it's a great movie, but I don't know why I spent $150 (plus another $100 or so for friends and family) on tickets and then $25 for DVD and another $25 for blu-ray. In total I've spent about $300 on this movie. Like what the heck man lol. It came out the year i graduated from high school so it hit pretty hard. Thanks for the nostalgia boost and realizing all the money I wasted! 😅

    I liked your thoughts before viewing about Seth Rogen acting in this. He actually co-wrote the movie with his childhood best friend and current writing partner, Evan Goldberg. They started writing it in the 90's when they were teenagers in Vancouver BC. It's why the main characters are named Seth and Evan.

    Strange fact: The mom of the actor who plays Fogel had to be on set during his bedroom scene. He was not yet 18 and the law called for this. Must have been awkward as hell for him - and his mom.

    Every decade has it's best party/coming of age movies, Animal House, Porky's, Zapped, Revenge of the Nerds, Up in Smoke, Dazed and Confused, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, How High, Risky Business, Weird Science, Best Little Whorhouse in Texas,, Little Darlings, all those collage age gems we couldn't watch at 13 unless we had a connection. 😂

    You should watch the bloopers and table reads from the Superbad cast. They’re hilarious as well. Definitely one of the better comedies of the 2000s.

    This was actually the very first writing collaboration from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg which kickstarted their professional partnership and they went on to write, direct and produce many movies and tv shows together (This Is The End, The Interview, The Boys, Invincible). They are actually highschool friends and Superbad is partly based on their own experiences and the two main protagonists even inherited their given names, Seth and Evan.

    Not sure if you saw but this was actually written by Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg. From wiki- “the script began development when they were 13 years old, and was loosely based on their experience in Grade 12 at Point Grey Secondary School in Vancouver during the 1990s”.

    Seth and Evan are actually based on the writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and they first began working on the script at 13. By the time they were able to make the movie, Seth Rogen was too old to play Seth, so he played one of the cops instead.

    I was a senior in high school when this movie came out. This film was a highlight of my late teenage years. It was so quotable and left me so many memories. I still remember watching this in a cheap movie theater, laughing my arse off with my best friends.

    This movie was written by Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg about their high school experience...they actually started writing it in high school. So Jonah Hill and Michael Cera are based on the 2 of them. This was a summer blockbuster that year, back when comedies could actually be blockbusters (Iron Man came out the next year).

    6:18 If you watch the outtakes, they actually had to shoot that boob punch like 20 times because Michael Cera is such a shy nice guy he kept pulling his punches. They had to like assure him it was okay. P.S. There's a slew of movies with this type of comedy. 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, This is 40, I Love You Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc.

    I remember seeing this movie in the theatre the year after I graduated high school. Their portrayal of high school friendships and drama (while sometimes totally exaggerated lol) is so spot on. I just remember everyone in the theatre laughing so hard and having a great time watching. So much fun!

    Future recommendations: Pineapple Express and This is the End. In This is the End, Michael Cera plays the opposite of his usual characters. The movie was 85% improved, and he had to be talked into it.
