SUPER TIGHT B-Train Backing On The BLINDSIDE

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a continuation of my last video, of the tight turns and hillclimb to get to this place!
Tight turns and hillclimb: • PETERBILT 379 - Hillcl...
There is actually a decent amount of space that I’m backing INTO, but the issue is the road in front is so tight that I have no room to “wiggle” the tractor around to get the trailers into position!

You did a great job and far from it for me to tell you how to do your job but this is a tip that I use that may help you. When you were straightening your truck up and ran out of space in front, instead of redoing it or jumping the curb, I turn my wheel in the opposite direction so that your basically jackknifing it (in your case you would have turned the wheel to left). Once your in about a 45° angle, turn your wheel the opposite way and pull forward 5-7 feet, then turn back put towards the road and pull up. Once you start backing again you'll actually give yourself more space in front. I don't see alot of drivers do this but it really works and it's not hard on your tires if you do it right. Number 2, this is why I prefer the Western Star 4900EX as it has the giant window in the bunk on the passengers side. I can blindside better than many people can drivers side back, lol.

hey, could you maybe do a video where you show/explain how you shift this thing? I don't drive trucks myself but I find these 18 speed transmissions (assuming you have one?) really interesting and I'd love to see how you go about up-/downshifting. Love to watch your videos btw, especially your backing vids. And I'm not even from north america, I'm from Germany. It's really impressive how you handle those b trains, you don't really get to see vehicles like this here in Europe. Keep up the good work 👍

That’s really good backing, nice job at taking your time, however, as a truck driver myself, making smart decisions is the best thing to do, you gotta think is it really worth it to risk damaging something trying to back in somewhere tight? Especially when they can come out with a lift.

Also you are so kind to the clutch and transmission, most truckers these days don’t have a clutch or gear Shifter but you have all that plus two trailers.
