    @BUILD THE WALL The choice is fascist racist Trumpism vs decency. Go to one of trump's hitler rallies and you will see a glimpse of the end of democracy in america and the beginning of fascism. Save America. Vote against trumpism. Vote against the 28,000 lies that trump has spoken in the last four years. Vote against support of white supremacy. My Sinbad was free flight. It wasn’t a super Sinbad. My dad and I built it...60 plus years ago. Dad is gone now and I cannot remember where the plane went. The memories linger! Oh how they linger.

    Very much my exoerience,the smell of the dope,fitting the bands. Towed her uowind in Windsor Great Park for first launch in the early 60s, ,she rurned and it was a good half mile chase to recover,great.

    Same. Our first flight was during a relative lull in the Santa Ana winds we get in southern California. Note that "relative lull"- the upper level winds were a good deal stronger than we realized. After the towline droped, lady Sinbad wnet her own way, out towards Costa Mesa, maybe all the way to the beach. We didn't think to put a name or contact info on the plane. I just hope whoever found it treated it like a gift of the skygods.

    The Super Sinbad was my first kit built glider, circa 1967ish. Ambroid glue, tissue paper and airplane dope was all I had back then. Had her trimmed to fly lazy circles, free flight, after a running tow. She would often catch some lift and then the chase would be on, HA!

    Beautiful. Perhaps trans finishes make planes look more delicate than they in fact are. I remember many years ago, transparent covering materials weren't so easy to get, and yellow tissue seemed to be the colour of choice if you wanted to use traditional cellulose dope and sanding sealer etc. Trans finishes such as this really add a dimension to an excellent build like this; after all, as they say, "if you've got it, flaunt it"! Nice one John. ⭐👍

  • @SlopeRCGliders

    @SlopeRCGliders

    4 жыл бұрын

    I do fly just as many gliders with ailerons, but for flying in light winds you just can’t beat the simplicity and lightness of a rudder and elevator model. When the wind picks up I always swap to an aileron model but they tend to be faster and harder to get good footage of. Flying without ailerons on a lovely day is both relaxing and challenging.

    It’s just two channel. The elevator works off one servo, which is then split into two pushrods.

    I normally cover all my models in the cheap unbranded stuff from Hobbyking but this one is Oracover. I think it’s transparent lime green but it looks more like yellow.

    @@richarddarlington1139 exactly! ~In fact the lighter they are, the slower they fly and the less momentum they have to break in a crash. By trying to over engineer it, you make it heavier weaker, and fly badly. It impossible to build something strong enough to survive every crash so just build it strong enough to fly.

    Hi John. You'll probably never see this but it looks like your horizontal stabilizer is rotated several degrees clockwise (when looking from the rear) from the wing. Is this a trick of the camera or am I seeing this correctly? If the latter, is there a reason for this?

    It probably is slightly out of alignment. With these lightweight open frame gliders it’s possible for the fuselage to twist out of shape if they are stored for a while. It’s easy to pull it back into shape with a heat gun. However, it could be simply be that the wings aren’t sitting in exactly right, as they are only held in place with elastic bands.
