I think I have good neighbors 😂 but I do have an old farmhouse sink with a bullet hole that I'll have to try this on, thanks!
Wanted to say thanks, great vid, bought a new f-150 fender bought it with with 9 holes for a wheel flare, my doesn't have flares, so filled them in with your method and was able to tape a peice of flat thin copper behind them, then filled the holes, was blown away how well this worked ,when finished the front was able to peel the tape and copper came off, witch made solder flat on the backside, love the turn out impressed thx, alot!!! 5 stars!

Cool trick. It's how I first did auto body. Then learned to braze, then learned to weld. Electronic solder is smaller so it melts easier and is usually acid free compared to plumbing solder
Thank you sir!
Thanks for making the video. My solder iron goes from 5-40watts and maxes out at 900 degrees Fahrenheit. Will this be hot enough if the area is prepped like shown in the video? Thank you

I’m not sure if that will work. Little confused on the watts of your gun. Try it on some scrap steel and see what happens. Thanks for watching
Would this work to fix cracks around a bolt hole from a mirror on a door? I'm using a different style mirror
@autobodytrainingsolutions838
2 жыл бұрын
Possibly but the cracks need to be opened up for the solder to flow in. This method doesn’t work if it’s a stress crack but if the new mirror puts stress on it it may crack again. Thanks for watching
Could you use this method for larger patches?
@autobodytrainingsolutions838
3 жыл бұрын
It could be used for a slightly larger patch although for cosmetic use only. This patch doesn’t have a lot of strength so it shouldn’t be used in a structural area or where there could be some stress.
I have a truck that had a sun visor it was blown off and left the holes I don't plan on putting it back on, will this be ok to fix the holes?

It will work fine. For another option check out my video Hole Repair Without Welding. Thanks for watching
Exactly which model Weller is that? I’ve got a Hakko soldering iron, maxes out at around 800 degrees.. I can’t imaging my iron getting the sheet metal hot enough for the solder to stick as easily as your Weller did. I’ve got an antenna hole to fill and there’s glued on felt headliner on the other side. To repair it, I’ll need to minimize heat as much as possible. This might just be the way to go. Thanks for an awesome tip!

My soldering iron is a Weller D650 and heats up in about 10 seconds. Make sure you're using an acid core solder (which is typical plumbers solder). The metal needs to be perfectly clean for the solder to stick. You will also need to make sure the tip of your iron is clean; I usually use Scotch Brite. I've done antenna holes before too and haven't had any problems with this method. Here is a link to the soldering iron on Amazon that I use - amzn.to/2zf6bw1

What would be the best way to do trim holes?
@autobodytrainingsolutions838
Жыл бұрын
Trim holes can be solder closed easily sometimes without a patch. Depending on the size hole, they can be filled with solder but make sure the edges of the holes are clean and free of any paint. Thanks for watching

Is there a certain gauge of sheet metal you recommend? What do b you use to cut the sheet metal? Just found a bullet hole in my truck probably from the idiots who use guns to celebrate the Superbowl. SMH.

Depending on manufacturers, gauge can vary. I just use whatever scrap I have laying around. 16 -20 gauge works good. I use tin snips to cut small patches. Thanks for watching
