Well, I met her. She was very shy to get drawn. Then I learned this was not her first time getting a caricature by me… apparently I had drawn her years ago. She trusted me with her face then, and entrusted me with her face again this time. Amazing.

I have to say I have seen a lot of caricature artists. Most of which go overboard, trying too hard to get a laugh. Alani, you have an unbelievable talent drawing the caricatures and keeping them real. That's a true art from a true master! Keep doing what you're doing!!!

As a caricature artist, you have to know when it’s ok to poke fun at someone’s looks and when not to. I think it shows a lot of heart and awareness that you drew her in the best light. I’m sure this experience has really built her confidence going into the coming years of extreme growth and change. Thank you.

No they didn’t..he stated that a “caricature artist” may exaggerate attributes to make them look more funny then they are. But the dude drawing probably felt that she was a extremely shy girl so he drew her without making excessive cartoon expressions.

I inherited my mother's gummy smile. I was self-conscious about it for a very long time until somebody paid me a compliment I have never forgotten. I don't care why she said it, if it was a calculated move because she may have sensed my self-consciousness, if she was doing it as some kind of interpersonal skills practice, or if she really did just mean to pay me a compliment for the sake of it but when she said my face lit up when I smiled that allowed me to give myself permission to smile freely. I don't hide my smile anymore, and a genuine smile will usually be well received no matter what it looks like. I wish my mother would accept her smile too.

This was a sweet read. I have a friend w a big gummy smile but she was always laughing and happy so her smile was quite beautiful. Probably the same as yours. That smile brings joy to people inside when they're feeling dowm. So keep smiling! 😁

Beautiful story. Similar thing with me and my nose, which has a bump in it that I was always self conscious about it. One day my friend’s aunt realized that and said she liked it, thought it ‘added character’. I liked it too, from that moment on.

I love that he drew her beautiful with zero flaws! Girls at her age are super insecure… so great job!!!

I’ve seen some artists that would’ve absolutely FLAMED her just cause she’s not society’s version of “conventionally attractive”. It’s pretty cruel imo. Like they’ll draw people with prominent noses absolutely MASSIVE and then if they have the tiniest bit of acne they’ll draw whiteheads and pimples all over their face, and they look like they wanna cry but there’s a bunch of people watching so they feel the need to laugh. But this guy did amazing with her. I could neverrrr get a caricature I am way too insecure so she’s very brave lol

Beautiful lady and beautiful art work

I'm always amazed at the speed these artists draw in... I know this was sped up of course😁... but every time we'd be at Magic Mountain or fairs or wherever, I could have just watched them for hours! The quick smooth & straight lines are always incredible and make it so clear they have confidence in their moves from loads of drawing. But you have to have that confidence to draw people, so fast, but also while lots of other people are watching you!! I get embarrassed to just sketch outside where people are because I'm nothing great like this, just learning in my old age...but I feel like, if I'm bold enough to draw out in public areas, people want to see, assuming you're already good.... but then they see I'm not and we're both embarrassed!😳🤣😂🥺🤣😂🤣😬😁🤷🏼‍♀️ but, I'm tryin' :) But you're all so awesome and kind, especially when the person is shy and nervous, cuz I felt the same anytime I had one done with family or my husband. So fun to watch!! Thanks for sharing!
