A guy near us built a new house and popped up with a 93 Lightning and a 93 454ss truck all at the same time. We were in the country and he was my new idol for so long. He would stop in front of our house and do burnouts.

My husband and I bought a 1990 454 SS. Dearly loved that truck...it was my truck until 2016. Brakes went out and I wrecked it. We put a gear vendors on it, had better gas mileage than. 😊

That is a sweet truck! I’m a couple years older than Shawn, so it brings back a lot of memories for me as well seeing those trucks running around and me being a kid drooling over them. Great job guys!

Truck brings back memories of the good old days for sure. Buddy of mine had a black ‘90 model in around 93-94 I believe . But he sold it and ended up building a regular ‘90 model 1500 with one of the 502 crate engines. I think I was 17 at the time. Hard to believe that’s been 30 years ago 😔

The truck is great and all but I must say I was impressed to see that Phantoms background for his phone is a Pic of him and Mallory. Takes a great man to keep that background. Good on you, Phantom.

I just bought a 91 black 454 SS real 37,000 miles One owner Guy I’ve known most of my life has medical issues. He wanted me to have it and he wouldn’t take more than four grand. I felt very bad, actually doing it. But very blessed at the same time.

There's lots of "gems" out there BUT most who have 'em know what they've got and won't part company with 'em EVEN in their heart of hearts they'll NEVER do a dang thing with 'em. It's COOL but really SAD,, both at the same time.

I drove a pre-production ss454 around Talladega before the spring cup race as a promotion for GM with the head of Chevrolet motorsports riding shotgun. Was a great experience for a young gearhead. The first year trucks only had one option available...a $7 locking gas cap lol as long as you like black with red interior and a corporate gas card, this was your truck. I drove it back to the dealership and drove it for several months to promote it until GM released it for sale. GM provided me with the truck and an open parts bin to develop over the counter mods. These trucks are not just a big block in a production 1/2 ton, at least the first 2 years. There is a ton of factory goodies done with the suspension.

That thing cleaned up nice, your detail guy rocks. I've always been a square body guy, so those took a while to grow on me, but that is a good looking truck.

Talking about smog pumps my dad and his buddy put one on a bracket car and it picked up time. They pulled vacuum on valve covers into a catch can. So my dad did the same thing on his f150 with factory smog pump

I love it murder drives 3-4000hp or whatever they are nowadays on the reg and the ol 250hp in an Chevy still does it for him. You know it’s truly in his blood.

I had a Red on Red 454 SS truck. I still have the box. The cab and frame were trashed in an accident. I dont remember what happen to the drivetrain. Scrapped everything but the rear frame, rear end and the pickup box. I get some looks from people when i im hauling my grass clippings or tree branches to the dump in it.

I own a 90 454ss I drove to high school back in 05 and later on down the road went threw motor did heads cam and all that and put a small blower on it it's a blast to drive

That's a cool truck a friend of mine had a black one back in the day.

I just learned not all the 454 trucks were black but that's only in 91, 92/93 were white and red also

If you want rare obs Chevy look for a 400ss pickup. I have seen 3 when I worked at a dealership in 91. Came in red, white and blue and were small block 400 and 5 speed manuals. Fun to drive. The owner bought every special edition or new body style Chevrolet put out and that started with his dad who started the dealership. He had what looked like mini storage building packed full. All the doors but no interior walls. He had 100's of cars back there.
