IMO, Charles’ Gabby Jay voice sounds the most like Mario; to me, it’s basically Mario without the Italian accent. Would’ve been funny if Charles’ Mario voice (or something similar to it) was used for Mad Clown here

It’s my favorite with the secret multiplayer

I like seeing the character progression of fighters that showed up in Punch out Wii Bear Hugger went from second minor circuit fight to second major circuit fight, Bald Bull went from major circuit opener to the third fight in the world circuit and Sandman is the world champion Not really counting Super Macho Man cause he's always been a good fighter but got topped out by Sandman in the Wii release

Fun fact: mad clown and bear hugger have almost the same sprite, one is recolored. You can very much see it in their idle and knocked out animations.

a lot of the boxers reuse a bodytype from someone else to save on cartridge space, and it's actually been that way since the original arcade one for example, mike tyson himself actually uses piston hondo's body iirc

Gabby Jay... Ayaayyy! 💥 That shit had stuck with me since this game first released in the 90s.

I like to think that corruption was going rampant on the boxing association during this game, then they decided to clean up their act by getting rid of all the assholes who were blatantly cheating by doing whatever the hell they like, like kicking, jumping around on the ropes and throwing pool balls or were already using weapons, Aran Ryan got saved as he was fighting properly during this game.

You can get the Nintendo Switch for $300 - $350 with an online subscription to play almost ANY NES, SNES, or GAME BOY games, including Super Punch-Out!! The prices can vary but it’s very cheap for a whole bunch of retro games. And you could possibly get a computer virus trying to get this game.

Exactly. Every single opponent has a pattern. Once you figure out the pattern, they're all easy and finishing the game become a test of memory, not skill.

Fun fact: Gabby Jay's only win is against his teacher Glass Joe.

Nick Bruiser was such a clown after that Rick Bruiser fight. Rick’s pre-fight line wasn’t a joke, he was being serious.

I love how you can disrupt the opponent by hitting them on the same direction. Great video

He’s fairly hard at first.But once you memorize how to dodge his moves he’s very easy. This is a hard game but once you analyze all of the opponents moves you will be able to beat it.

Looking at this game more closely compared to NES and Wii version... They were definitely trying to go for the original Arcade presentation and gameplay.

Even in the original game’s manual that originally came with the cartridge, in the bio for the Bruiser Bros. the game said that “both brothers have near identical records and since only of them can be the champion the fight between brothers had to take place and Nick Bruiser defeated Rick.”

From what I could find online and various speedrun videos, you have to counter two of Nick's punches and get a 2nd Knockdown as fast as possible after the first and he won't get up.

Never got into this one. But it only occurs to me now that these toons were all designed to piss you off

This what’s referred to as a TAS run, or tool assisted speed run…meaning the player used cheat codes to complete the game.

i best this game without raking damage for the 2nd time! it was painful just like how i remembered it

There needs to be a Punch-Out made featuring ALL of the characters from the previous games. The Wii version had a pretty good roster, but it also could have had more. I'd like to see Pizza Pasta from the first arcade game return. He never made an appearance after that. With all the Italian stereotypes out there, they could do a lot more now than just a nondescript white guy in green trunks. 😂

Fun Fact: Charles Martinet (The Mario Ambassador) voiced everything from the Announcer to Little Mac.
