My guess is that she's just following orders from one of her "handlers" and that person is the sloppy one? The question I would want to ask is "How did you decide on a security team of four? Why not two, three, five or six? Was it the police chief's decision to assign four? If not, who had more training to make that call than the police chief? Did you look into hiring an outside firm to serve as your security team which would be much less cost?"

The rules on running for or holding local government offices very by state but even with felony convictions the U.S. Constitution doesn’t prohibit a person from running for and holding elected federal office. I know her positions are city/municipal, I’m just trying to make the point it’s not as easy to lose that right as one may think.

At 17:30 she just cant help her ego. While explaining she has nothing to do with the charity she says "someone, who likes the work I do in my community, made a foundation and named it after me" Guys, we've reached peak ego here.

It seems like she is unstoppable.

She tried a "Power move", she thought she could overrule the local bad press by doing a national show but it backfired. All it did was add more fuel to her credibility fire.

She brought up race when berating the council members while she was ripping off black taxpayers.😂

We need to look into the officer who got that $13,000 paycheck, and see if they have some sort of personal relationship. Follow the money it always leads you to the truth. People lie no matter what their position is but the facts are just that. We need mandatory quarterly financial reports from every division of government and every employee. It should be posted on government websites so we know where our tax dollars are going. No more hiding behind your position and honesty as a govt employee you should not have the right to plead the fifth under oath, or anything you say after you take the oath of office or service should be considered under oath.

If I was on that town board, my first question would be, why do you need to fly around the country at the tax payers expense? What is it that Dolton has to offer other communities out of state? They need to look at the deposits made by her charity! That's where they'll find the village's deficit... Somebody is going to prison!

Accountant here: if you have money to pay the bills, then you cannot be in a deficit. Whether you choose to retain the funds or not.

Former civil servant here, if you run up bills such that you exceed your budget and project that you will run out of money by October because you overspent on non-budgeted items in June, you are in deficit from the moment you found out in June. As a city there are non-negotiable expenses such as salaries for permanent employees. Other things like copy paper and repairs you can adjust. You estimate your earnings based on the taxes you get. And budget it to cover your annual expenses. Taxes may come in monthly, quarterly depending on how corporate and other taxes are paid in. Over time, you know your estimated earnings. Your ability to increase earnings by pushing sales doesn't exist in government entities. If there is a shortfall, services that you originally had money for like garbage collection now has to be cut. As an accountant, you know that if the boss decides to postpone paying the bank loan in order to keep paying your salary and not firing you, that bankruptcy is around the corner.

No one should feel sorry for this community, they voted for this criminal!

I've lived in several small towns, and I have never heard of a mayor having a security detail. I just tried Googling to see if the Colorado Springs mayor has a dedicated security detail and it appears no. In a city of roughly half a million.
