I've never seen such intense menu speedrunning in my life. Why does that impress me even more than the rest of the run? 😂

Still coming back to these runs after all these years. They never get old.

I imagine Peach, like, taking out a little mirror and checking her makeup or something while Mario does his two solid minutes of jumping on an enemy.

One of my favorite games of all time. This is so fun to watch!

Actually the "charades" gag that Mario does is a homage to the "silent protagonist" of classic RPG's like the old Final Fantasy's, Chrono Trigger. Instead of talking, Mario acts out what he wants to say.

Awesome run! Can't believe I'm only two months in to knowing about speed runs and just thought to look up my favorite game. Learned a lot of useful information from this run as well!

Great commentary on the couch. Great chemistry. One of the best narrators reading donations. And as usual, Lack is always a blast to watch. Doesn't get much better than this lineup for an RPG run.

James Howard Paper Mario is my fav from the Mario RPGs but Super Mario RPG is better

The lazy shell is one of the greatest items in the game, it's too bad there's not enough time in a speed run to get it. It makes smithy a breeze

Finally a playthrough of this I can stand to watch.

The crowd's Waluigi impression is surprisingly good.

@jd87a it has to do with the original speedruns of the game. When the JP and the English community came together, they decided to keep the rules linear using the JP rules of start and end time to keep timings between them.

Well, you'll have casual players, you'll have exceptional players, you'll have average speedrunners and you'll have top tier speedrunners. Nothing wrong with that (and I am the same way 'frustrated' as you are, but then with A Link to the Past 😉).

This is what I love about this game, and Paper Mario. No "oh you clip through here and skip 2 whole worlds!". It's just a game. Done quick.

Origiginal In TTYD, you can skip chapters 3-6... palace skip skips the entire last palace...

I've beaten this game many times, t never knew the mining cart minigame had a horn. I was like "WTF is that noise!?" then the explanation. Fun little tidbit to know.

A worthy sacrifice (technically it's like 4-5 seconds since the naming screen doesn't pop up until like 13 seconds)

With 35 to 45 seconds to use the bathroom you are NOT washing your hands.. Great run and commentary!

it's a timing based special...and each time after 13 it gets harder and harder to hit 100 jumps..you just keep hitting Y at the right timing until you miss or hit 100 jumps...

They explained during the video that during the super jumps. Once you get to 13 consecutive jumps. The timing window to hit the Y button to keep jumping, is 3 frames. Super Mario RPG runs at 60fps. So you have like 120 milliseconds to press the Y button at the right time.

not looking for an argument here, so i'm accepting your replies. it is interesting that people would put so much hate on an opinion or observation that they dont agree on. why is that? did i badmouth you favorite character by linking him to another that you have disdain? if so, i apologize. i like SMRPG as much as the next casual gamer that finished it (i even max leveled every character just to see if i can get 9999 on a normal attack), and i like One-Punch Man both anime and manga (not really the author's version, might be because of the artwork). so i found it interesting that the moves Geno uses are spelled the same as the character Genos. what's wrong with that?

Chris the smrpg speed run community does Japanese Real Time Attack (JRTA) which is time start on power on till end of credits. I think they mentioned it somewhere in the run. Typical RTA is start of player input but it's just what's standard for their speedrun community
